In the May issue of American Baby magazine, we asked you which of the following celebrities gave birth at home: Lisa Bonet, Cindy Crawford, Meryl Streep, or Demi Moore. Surprise! All four celebrity moms gave birth in the privacy and comfort of their own homes.
Future Rock Star?
Actress Lisa Bonet, born Lisa Boney, best known for her role as Denise Huxtable on The Cosby Show, gave birth in 1989 to daughter Zoe Isabella Kravitz at home. At the time of Zoe's arrival, Bonet was married to musician Lenny Kravitz. (They divorced in 1993.) In the mid-90s she began dating Bryan Kest, changed her name to Lilakoi Moon, and had another child. She lives in Los Angeles with her two children.
Model Cindy Crawford, who has been featured on the cover of more than 600 magazine covers, gave birth to both of her children, with second husband Rande Gerber, at home. Crawford was formerly married to actor Richard Gere, with whom she had no children. Crawford gave birth to son Presley on July 2,1999, and daughter Kaia on September 3, 2001. Crawford now owns her own production company, Crawdaddy Inc.
"Brat Pack" -- Second Generation
Actress Demi Moore, born Demetria Gene Guynes, gave birth to all three of her daughters, with former husband Bruce Willis, at home: Rumer Glenn, born August 16, 1988; Scout LaRue, born July 20, 1991; and Tallulah Belle, born February 3, 1994. Moore, a member of the "Brat Pack," a group of young actors in the '80s that included Rob Lowe, is known for her roles in such films as Ghost and Indecent Proposal. Moore married actor Ashton Kutcher in September 2005 and lives in both Idaho and Los Angeles.
Actress and two-time Academy Award winner Meryl Streep, born Mary Louise Streep, also experienced a home birth. In September 1978, Meryl married sculptor Don Gummer and they are parents to four children: Henry, Mamie (Mary), Grace, and Louisa. Streep, known for her roles in The Deer Hunter and The Hours, has been nominated for an Academy Award a total of 13 times -- 10 for Best Actress and 3 for Best Supporting Actress, which makes her the most-nominated actor of all time. She can be seen next in both A Prairie Home Companion as well as The Devil Wears Prada.
