Pumpkin Decorating

This little pumpkin will cast a spell on everyone she meets.

Materials:

  • pencil
  • mini pumpkin
  • black permanent marker
  • feather boa
  • ruler
  • kid-friendly scissors
  • tacky glue
  • black paper

Directions:

  1. Use a pencil to outline a face on the pumpkin, then have your child fill in the features with a black permanent marker. Let dry to prevent smudging.
  2. Cut a 5-inch section from a feather boa, and glue it to the top of the pumpkin, surrounding the stem.
  3. Glue a black paper witch's hat to the top of the feather boa. Let dry.

The Witch Hat

To make our witch's hat, trace templates onto black paper and cut out. For the base, starting at the center of the circle, cut out 1 1/2 inch tabs, as shown. Fold tabs up. For the top, fold paperinto cone, as shown. Secure with double-sided tape. Slip the cone over the base and glue to tabs. Let dry.
