Haunted Table Topper

You need: orange buffalo-checked fabric; thumbtack; white and black sheer fabric; sewing supplies; halloween-themed patio lights (we used skeletons).

Cutting: Measure across tabletop plus two times distance from top to floor. Cut a square from checked fabric to the obtained measurement adding 2" for hem and piecing together as necessary. Fold square in half, then in half again to quarters. Thumbtack one end of tape measure to folded corner of square opposite loose edges. Stretch tape measure to equal one half total obtained above. With dressmaker's pencil, draw an arc from fold to fold, rotating tape and pencil and using tacked end as pivot point. Cut through all the layers along marked curve. Open up. Measure across table and partially down sides for toppers. Cut a square from white sheer fabrics and a smaller one from black sheer fabric.

Sewing: Sew 1/2" double-hem along lower edge of checked fabric circle for underskirt. Sew 1/2" double-hem along all edges of sheer squares for toppers. Position checked skirt on table with white and black toppers skewed on top. Drape patio lights around tablecloths and tack in place.
