Low Sperm Count

Dr. Elizabeth Pryor answers the question, How can a couple overcome low sperm count and have a baby?

My husband has a low sperm count. Is there anything we can be doing to improve our chances of conception?

I would recommend you see a fertility specialist. Fortunately, there is a procedure that can improve your chances dramatically.

Without knowing the exact sperm count, it is hard to say exactly what your chances are, but the procedure that is used for men with low sperm count is called ICSI, or intracytoplasmic sperm injection. The doctor will take an individual sperm and place it directly into the egg. Then the fertilized egg is then placed into your womb. I would check around in your city to see if there is a local doctor that specializes in this procedure.
