A New Twist on Birthday Party Treats

Less messy than an ice-cream cake, more fun than a cupcake, cake cones are as much fun to make as they are to eat.

  • Make vanilla or chocolate batter according to package directions or from scratch according to your favorite recipe.
  • Spoon the batter into 12 wafer ice-cream cones.
  • Bake on a baking tray or muffin tin at 350 for 8 to 10 minutes. (Use a cake tester to assure doneness.)
  • Let cool for 20 minutes.
  • Spread store-bought or homemade frosting evenly over the cakes.

Need a birthday activity? Have the children decorate their own cakes using a variety of sprinkles, candy decorations, or piped icing. (And of course, don't forget the cherry on top!)
