Winter storms are Mother Nature's way of saying, "Chill!" Use the bonus free time to try these purely- for-fun ideas.
1. Build a snow-hurdle course and time each other running through it.
2. Instead of making a traditional snowman, challenge kids to create a sculpture they can play on, like a snow car or a snow boat.
3. Head indoors for hot vanilla (stir 2 teaspoons sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract into a cup of warm milk) and curl up for a reading of Ezra Jack Keats's classic book The Snowy Day.
