A lot of women do, but if you want to try and have a vaginal birth, talk to your doctor. Under some circumstances you can have a vaginal birth following a c-section. (Often referred to as a V-BAC)

I had an emergency c-section with my first.  The doctor's where I live do not perform V-BAC's so I had to have a c-section with my 2nd as well.  However, the way I carry my children, we learned I could never have them vaginally.  They are so high, they never descend even though I go into labor.

Definitely talk to your doctor! My friend just found out that she can attempt a VBA2C. Some hospitals are definitely more open to it than others :smileyhappy:

As everyone else has said, not necessarily. If your current OB/GYN and hospital will not do VBACs, you can look around and probably find others who will. In most cases, VBAC has minimal risk, and is safer than having many repeat cesareans. ICAN (International Cesarean Awareness Network) has a lot of great information about VBAC, and about planning another cesarean if that is what you were to need. Their website is www.ican-online.org .

If you do end up needing another cesarean for some reason, you can talk with your doctor about Family-Centered Cesarean. This video shows how it differs from a typical c/sec: https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=cP4P758ZxZs

Good luck find the option that is right for you!

I had a vbac and my recovery was worse than by c-section!

Re: i had a C-section with my last baby, will I have another one?

I really think that this isn't the norm. I know plenty of moms who had VBACs and preferred the faster, easier recovery they experienced with that and I do know moms who felt c-sec was easier too. However, when analyzing risks, your risk of surgical complications related to a c-sec (1/4 have complications) are much higher than the risk of uterine rupture with a VBAC (1 in 100). C-sec is major abdominal surgery, and while some people do recover quickly and well, most people aren't just up and walking right away. I knew someone who chose to do c-sec and said she preferred it but still could hardly walk 4 weeks later.
