I am almost 12 weeks pregnant and now I just found out last week at my first ultrasound I am having Identicial Twins. Excited, Blessed and so scared. I am now a high risk pregnancy and those words are scary enough. Anyone else have twins that can give me reassurring words?

Hi! I’m currently 28 weeks pregnant with fraternal twins but from the time we found out until 22 weeks we were told they were identical sharing one placenta which makes it high risk for twin to twin transfusion. Best it to listen to your body and take it easy. You will be monitored more closely most likely by a MFM specialist (which is actually good so you get to see the little ones more often and keep a close record of their growth). Try to enjoy it but also read up on all you can about twin to twin so you know the right questions to ask. There is also a good website http://www.tttsfoundation.org/ where you can get a lot of information.
Good Luck and Congratulations!

I do not have twins, however, my last pregnancy was considered high risk because I was over 40 and the umbilical cord was two vessel instead of three. When there is a two vessel cord there is an increased chance that other serious problems can develop with the heart and liver.
Baby was fine but they sure made a fuss over us. Here is what I experienced being high risk: 3D ultrasounds, lots of them, extra blood work, more doctor appointments than usual with a Perinatologist and the last three weeks I had to have a stress test every other day.
Try to relax and enjoy your pregnancy
I wish you a healthy and happy pregnancy!
