1 repin, 2 repins, 3 repins….100! With Christmas quickly approaching, the ONLY thing on my mind has been “how do I beat last’s year Christmas card?”! Before children, I never had this problem. We sent out our “normal” cards with hand written messages. But now, now things are different. Having children (and a photographer husband) puts things at a different level for us. We are held to higher standards. With our first son Alessio, we attempted a cute backdrop theme with a sled and of course our dogs as reindeers. Although it was a cute idea, it almost seemed like a flop to me….an easy way out. I was determined that for the next year I would do something much better. Something different that hasn’t been seen.
So a year came and went and I found myself shopping with my mom at Home Goods in October. While wandering down an aisle, I found the cutest mini luggage. This was when my great next Christmas photo idea came into play! Put the kids in front of a train station entrance and set them up to go to the North Pole (vintage style of course)!! The card was a HUGE hit. HUGE.
But now I wonder… have I set the level too high too fast?! It’s now November and I have been pondering for months about my next best idea for this year’s card. Its driving me crazy to be quite honest. So now, my question is, what other moms are facing this same problem??? The Holiday card dilemma? Anyone?
Patiently waiting mom for the next best idea to come to me ....HELP!

Meeee! I always try to come up with a cute idea for our card but the last couple years I've got nothing but the same "boring" poses! It's hard coordinating 3 kids and finding the time when they are all 3 in a good mood for picture taking ha! Your pic is too cute! Good luck! Pinterest is a great source of inspiration for me!

That picture really is too adorable! To warn you, I love pictures, and my personal belief is that a candid photo can be just as visually compelling as a posed portrait. I won't be offended if I'm the only person who feels that way Also, I tend to ramble, I apologize in advance.
Anyways, I'm just wondering, what if (to make it easier on you) you went a different route this year. Why not take pictures of you and your family in your home doing something Christmas-y like baking cookies or decorating the tree or having a tinsel fight, or wrapping presents (can you imagine the placement of the bows?!?). Kids are most comfortable at home...and if you get a project done, well two birds, one stone! And a little face smeared with chocolate and joy (or covered in gift tags and ribbon) will be a hit in a different way, but just as big. In fact, you just inspired me! My son just realized he can reach the big table and get what he wants...how cute will his little hand be sneaking cookies off a tray behind me while my husband licks the bowl and I'm decorating cookies?! Okay, I'm into the humor of everyday life, but you get the gist. And since your husband is a photographer, I'm sure he can photoshop to make the pictures pop...or even have a collage. The possibilities are endless.

SO funny Gabber1127!! So we thought of two ideas and one of them is almost exactly like what you said! I was thinking about baking cookiees with the boys and then in the next scene have them put out the cookies for santa.... and then next sleeping my the Christmas tree waiting for him!! We were also playing with the idea of taking pictures of them writing their VERYY LONGGG Christmas lists lol. Your ideas are great. Did you decide on what you will do this year yet??

ModChristine, I am also like you obsessed with Pinterest! SO many great and unique ideas! My hands are definately full with two boys....I can't imagine having a third. Give you lots of credit! You could have some funny set-ups of the boys ruining something your adorable daughter was trying to make for Christmas. It would be funny and cute at the same time!!

Fortunately for myself, I forgot to send the Christmas cards out last year, lol. Printed them and everything but forgot to mail them (I blame it on the then newborn baby ) so the standard for this year is pretty low. I find out if our next baby is a boy or a girl and we'll probably do a family picture with dh dressed nice, and the girls and I in shirts that say big sister, little sister, and then baby brother or baby sister on my tummy for them since a large part of the extended family doesn't even know we're having another one.
Although since I didn't send out a card last year, a lot of them don't even know we have a second one because it was supposed to be a birth announcement/ merry Christmas card...

Oh I'm glad you liked the ideas! I think I'm going to go with the gift wrapping theme. I think my son will enjoy playing with all the shiny paper and such. He'll be turning 2 in 3 weeks, and I don't want to overwhelm him with holiday madness lol. I'm excited to see your pictures though, I hope you share a few!
