Crohn's and Autoimmune Mommas

I started a closed Facebook group for May 2014 Crohn's and Autoimmune Mommas. I have Crohn's and i have been looking for people to talk to about the specific complications regarding dealing with this issue. I welcome those with other IBD and autoimmune diseases to join. I know they are not all the same but a lot of us face the same challenges, and use the same treatments.

Here is a link to ask to join. If you can not get to it through there add your email in a comment and I will send you an invite.

Re: Crohn's and Autoimmune Mommas

I dont wnat to say I am glad to find another pregnant woman with auto immune because I hate to hear anyone has an auto immune disease, but it is nice to have someone to talk to taht may be having some of the same experiences and possibly fears.

I had a severe case of Ulcerative Colitis that never went in remission. I was diagnosed in 2001 and in 2009 I had my colon removed and now have a j-pouch. This is my first pregnancy and I am due 5/26/14. I see a regular OB right now but recently saw the Maternal Fetal specialist a week ago because I am considered high risk. Due to the fact that I have a j-pouch, a fistula and a large vertical scar on my abdomen from 2 planned and 1 emergency surgery I have to have a c-section. I guess I would rather know ahead of time than to be in labor for hours and then be told I need a c-section.

Have you had any surgeries with your Crohns?

I am 15w2d today and never had any nausea in the first trimester. Only symptom is being weak/tired and lots of pressure on my j-pouch. This may be because I had to stop taking Cipro which kept itunder control. I now take flagyl. I have lower back pain, but I had that before pregnancy also. I recently did teh first trimester screening and my U/S was perfect but my bloodwork came back positive because my HCG and PAPP-A were both low. So I am considered a higher risk for Trisomy 13 and 18. Yesterday I had NIPT blood test to check the babies DNA for trisomy 13, 18 ad 21 (downs syndroms). Praying all comes back fine. The perk of this test is that they can tell me the sex of the baby. I find out in about 2 weeks. I think my due dat e may be a little off so this may be what caused my bloodwork to come back low, but I also wonder if having an autoimmune disease and my body being different may have something to do with it also. The doctors really didnt know. Overall, its been great so far.

I even think I may be starting to feel the baby move. It is very faint and since I have never been pregnant before I am not sure if its the baby. If it keeps up I should know soon enough :smileyhappy:

I will check out your facebook site. I also go to a j-pouch page that I joined back when I had teh surgery to remove my colon. Ther is a lot of information there. It has a section for pregnancy and some women do not have a j-pouch, but they suffer form UC or Crohns.

Baby #1 due May 26,2014
