What It’s Like To Be A Kid With Tourette Syndrome: A New Video
Tourette syndrome is probably one of the more misunderstood neurologic disorders out there. I never knew that much about it, except that people with it have repetitive, involuntary movements and sounds, aka tics. Then I watched an eye-opening, moving mini documentary, Living With Tourette Syndrome. It was produced, written and directed by 15-year-old Olivia Matlin, who has Tourette syndrome, in conjunction with the Tourette Syndrome Association.
The video features kids and teens talking about what it’s like to have Tourette syndrome and the social struggles they face, including bullying. Their wishes to be accepted for who they are are ones many children with disabilities could relate to—not to mention parents like me.
