Weekly Spending Summary (11/24-11/30)

Some of you have wondered where I get my printable coupons. Here are the main coupon sites that I use: Coupons.com, Coupon Network, Smart Source, Red Plum, Ibotta, Hopster and Saving Star.  Manufacturer websites and Facebook pages are another great source.

Favorite Buys of the week:

* Free Sparkle and Brawny Paper Towels
* Free Hershey’s Chocolate
* Free Ghiradelli Chocolate
* Free Band-aids
* Kleenex for $0.39/box
* Turkey Hill Ice Cream for $0.79

Total Spent: $15.09
Total Saved with Coupons: $89.54
Total Saved with Sales: $80.00
Total Saved: $169.59

CVS: $0 (used $1.05 of grocery cash)
Saved with Coupons: $37.58
Saved with Sales: $21.25

My total out of pocket was $1.05 and since it was such a small amount I just used money out of my grocery cash to pay for it.

CVS was running their Black Friday sales this week and there were a lot of things that were free or moneymakers after coupons/sales/Extra Bucks.  Everything you see in the picture was free and the Children’s Advil, Listerine, Glade and Visine were actually a moneymaker of $4.00 total.

The great thing about CVS is that you can roll your Extra Bucks on multiple purchases in the same day.  For instance, I started out with $15 Extra Bucks to use.  So my first transaction I bought just over $15 worth of items.  Then I used the Extra Bucks earned on that transaction to pay for the items in the next transaction.  This is awesome as it helps you keep your out of pocket expense low.

Rite Aid: $0 (gift card)
Saved with Coupons: $42.96
Saved with Sales: $43.21

I used a gift card that I bought discounted through Gift Card Rescue to pay for this purchase which was $4.63 total.

Rite Aid was also having some incredible sales this week due to Black Friday…although some of their sales ran all week.  Everything but the one pack of Bandaids was free or better than free after coupons/sales/UPRewards.  The one pack of Bandaids cost me $0.50.  There were actually a bunch of other items that I could get for free as well but I had to get rain checks for them since they were out of stock.

Rite Aid is different than CVS in that you can’t roll your UPRewards on the same day.  In other words, if you purchase something and receive and UPReward coupon for purchasing it, you have to wait until the next day to use that UPReward.  It makes it much more of a pain to shop there.  Thankfully we live within a couple of blocks of Rite Aid so it’s not too hard to stop more than once if I really want to.  This week I stopped several times because the sales were for things that I wanted or needed.  Not something I would do every week for sure!

Giant: $2.71
Saved with Coupons: $3.00
Saved with Sales: $9.23

Giant had an instant savings deal running this week on several items.  If you bough 7 of the included items you saved $4 instantly.  The Kleenex and soup were both part of that deal and so I took advantage of it.  After coupons and sales, I paid $0.39 each for these items.  We go through Kleenex like crazy in the winter it seems so I’m trying to stock up when I can get them for a good price.  And while I don’t typically buy prepared soup (I prefer making my own and knowing exactly what is in it!), I decided to go ahead and get this.  With another baby coming in about 2 months I know that I’m going to be much busier and I know that soup like this will help me keep my sanity over lunch time some day!

Bought:

  • 3 Kleenex $1.50 each
  • Campbell’s Soup $1.25 each

Coupons Used:

  • $0.75/3 Kleenex printable coupons (doubled to $1.00)
  • Two $0.75/2 Campbell’s printable coupons (doubled to $1.00 each)
  • $4.00 instant savings for purchasing 7 participating products

Weis: $1.58
Saved with Coupons: $6.00
Saved with Sales: $6.36

I was rather frustrated because I went to Weis primarily to get some things that I had rain checks for and also to get more Swanson broth (that I could get for free!).  But they were still out of stock on the one rain check item and they were totally wiped out of the Swanson broth so I had to get a rain check on it.  Now I have to go back again sometime.  Not really what I was wanting to do.

The Brawny was free and the ice cream was $0.79 each after sales/coupons.

Bought:

  • 2 Turkey Hill Ice Cream $1.79 each
  • 4 Brawny Paper Towels $1.00 each (bought with rain check)

Coupons Used:

  • Two $0.50 Turkey Hill coupons received via manufacturer (doubled to $1.00 each)
  • Four $0.55 Brawny printable coupons (doubled to $1.00 each)

Misc.: $10.80

 I got the lettuce at our local farmer’s market.  I got the lunch meat there too.  I don’t typically buy lunch meat there but I took advantage of American Express’ Small Business Saturday offer.  If I spent $10 at qualified merchants and paid with my American Express card, they’ll give me a $10 statement credit.  So I found some lunch meat at S. Clyde Weaver for $5.40/lb. and got two pounds of it.  After the $10 credit I’ll only be paying $0.40/lb. for some really, good lunch meat!  Plus I helped out a local small business!

I also got some fresh ground whole wheat flour from my mother-in-law.  I usually pay her $6 for it but she owed me that so it came out even.  I love using it to make Homemade Whole Wheat Bread and other things too.
