Weekly Spending Summary (12/30-1/5)
I didn’t do as much shopping as usual this week. We’re getting ready to be gone for 6 weeks to an area that doesn’t have many stores(my husband is teaching at a small Bible school) and so I was trying to use up all my store coupons. I also will probably be doing very little shopping over the next 6 weeks either so these Weekly Spending Summaries will be rather sporadic too.
A couple of my favorite deals:
- Free Twix bar
- $0.50 for 2 Pentel pencils with lead and erasers
Total Spent: $12.55
Total Saved with Coupons: $25.75
Total Saved with Sales: $7.44
Total Saved: $33.19
CVS: $0
Saved with Coupons: $19.75
Saved with Sales: $6.44
I used a gift card that I earned through MyPoints to pay for this purchase, otherwise my out of pocket expense would have been $1.25. As I mentioned above, I was trying to use up Extra Buck coupons so most of these items I wouldn’t have bought otherwise.
Our 4 yr. old will have a lot of fun with the letters and beads. I know that they are hair beads but I’m planning to use them more as a craft item where he will be stringing them. Hey, they were cheaper than the ones at Michael’s, so I figured why not?
Although Neutrogena is our favorite hand lotion/cream, the Lubriderm is probably our second favorite. And since it was cheaper than the Neutrogena and in a handy, dandy pump bottle I figured I’d get it. Have you tried the Twix Peanut Butter? Yum…they are so good!
Bought:
- Twix $0.75
- Huggies $9.49
- Kid’s Hair Beads $2.99
- Lubriderm $4.99
- LA Looks Gel $1.67
- Alphabet Letters $1.00
Coupons Used:
- $3.00 Huggies printable coupon
- $16.75 in Extra Bucks (CVS coupons that print at register for purchasing specific items)
Got Back:
- $0.75 Extra Bucks coupon for purchasing the Twix (can use on next purchase of any item)
- $1.00 Extra Bucks coupon for purchasing the Huggies (can use on next purchase of any item)
Rite Aid: $0 (gift card)
Saved with Coupons: $6.00
Saved with Sales: $1.00
Several months ago I purchased a Rite Aid gift card for 6% discount online and I used it to pay for this purchase which was $3.13.
Again, as mentioned above I was trying to use up UPRewards so I didn’t buy a lot of the things I typically would have. We did need some new pencils though so I was excited to get these for just $0.50! And the Neutrogena Hand Cream isthebest thing there is for dry, cracked hands in our opinion. It’s maybe it a bit pricier but it works and you don’t need a lot to get the job done. And on top of that it is not very greasy nor does it wash off easily. And no, I don’t get paid to say all of that, we just love the product!
Bought:
- Neutrogena Hand Cream $4.49
- Pentel Pencils $4.49
Coupons Used:
- $6 in UPRewards (Rite Aid coupons that print at register for purchasing specific items)
Got Back:
- $4 UPReward coupon for purchasing the Pentel pencils (can be used on next purchase of any item)
Centerville Bulk Food: $12.55
Stopped at the local bulk food store to stock up on a few basics. We usually get milk from a local dairy but this week was just too hectic and we didn’t have time, so we paid $4.04 instead of $2.50 and got it at the bulk food store. Sometimes it’s just worth spending the extra money.

Mia, I don’t remember everything totally but here’s what I do remember. And in the future I’ll try to do better at posting more details for my bulk food store purchases, although I can’t promise that I’ll do full details every time.
I got rolled oats and regular oatmeal for about $0.56/lb. each. Brown sugar for around $0.69/lb. And yeast and raw wheat germ- and I can’t remember the prices for them.
Does that help?
