Weekly Spending Summary (12/9-12/15)

Here’s another Weekly Spending Summary for you all. Some of you may wonder just why I post them. Is it to “show off” how great of a deal shopper I am? No, not hardly. In fact, truth be told it would be much easier to not do these posts at all because they are time consuming and feel a little like I am throwing my life in front of the world.

I do these posts because in the past I had readers ask how I deal shop and also how I keep our monthly grocery/household spending at $200/mo. I hope by doing these posts that you will be inspired that a real-life, normal person can get great grocery and household deals without too much trouble. I also hope that these posts will debunk the huge myth that all couponers eat pretty much only junk food.  :)  Yes, I do occasionally by junk or processed foods. But the majority of my shopping is for real, whole foods.

Some of you have wondered recently where I get my printable coupons. Here are the main coupon sites that I use: Coupons.com, Coupon Network, Smart Source, Red Plum and Saving Star. Manufacturer websites and Facbook pages are another great source.

My favorite buys this week:

  • Moneymaking greeting cards at CVS (made almost $2!)

I had fun shopping at Giant this week…got some amazing deals! The coffee was $0.25 each after coupons/sales. I love using it to make my Homemade Iced Coffee. The soup was free after a coupon and the sour cream was only $0.83 after coupons and sales plus I got $5 off fresh meat too for purchasing 5 Breakstone sour cream. I chose some fresh tilapia. We don’t often eat fresh fish since it is pretty expensive so I thought I’d do this as a treat.

Thanks for taking the time to do these intensive posts. It shows many people how to do it, rather than just what to do. But I could see how it could lead to some misconceptions about eating habits. Hmm…they must eat sour cream straight from the container every day. ;)

Have a very merry Christmas, Lydia & family!

Monica, I love your humor. Your comment about sour cream made me laugh. Funny thing is, I probably could eat it straight from the container. :)

Hope you have a merry Christmas too!
