ThredUp: Use $10 Credit or Free Shipping Code to Get Inexpensive Kid’s Clothing

Please note that the $10 credit is for new ThredUp customers only, however the free shipping promotion will work for anyone!

UPDATE: Apparently ThredUp is not allowing both promotions to be used together, so you can use either one or the other.  I’m terribly sorry….I had understood that you could combine them.  I try my best to post only legitimate offers and hate when this kind of thing happens!

ThredUp is an online consignment store for children’s clothing.   Right now if you combine the $10 account credit that you get when you sign up for an account with the free shipping code they are currently offering, you can get some free or really inexpensive children’s clothing.  The free shipping code is supposed to work until Oct. 31, 2012.

Here’s how to do your deal:

  • Put $10 or less worth of items in your cart and after your $10 sign up promotion they will be free.  Anything over that, you’ll simply pay the difference.
  • Once your item/items are in your cart, go to checkout.
  • At checkout you’ll see a link on the left hand side of the screen where you can enter promo code SHIPOCT12 to get free shipping on your order.
  • If you’re total was more than $10 before shipping you’ll need to pay the difference.  If not, your item(s) should show up as free!
  • Try to wait patiently for your items to arrive.  :)

I gave ThredUp a whirl a couple of weeks ago so that I could give you all an idea of whether it was worth it or not.  While I found their prices to be a bit more than what I would pay at yard sales and maybe even some kid’s consignment stores, I still found quite a few great deals.  And I loved the fact that I didn’t have to leave my home which means I saved time and gas too.  I was really impressed with the shirts and pants that I got from ThredUp for my 4 yr. old son and the 2 tops I got for my 9 mo. old daughter.  The items were in great shape and they came in a cute little box and were wrapped up like a gift inside…. which made them seem even more special! :)

Maybe I’m just blind, but I can’t find anywhere on the checkout screen to put in the code for free shipping. There’s a spot for promo codes, but it already has the one for the $10 in it and nowhere to add another.

Hannah, sorry about that! I’ll check into it…I understood that you could use the two promotions together. I’ll report back as soon as I find out!

I couldn’t figure out how to use both offers at once, either. Still a great deal though!

Ladies, I sent an email to ThredUp asking them about the issue. I’ll let you know what I find out.

Not a lady, but I am anxiously waiting on the answer for this because I have 5 kids and I have found LOTS for my kids here. And as we all know, kids grow like weeds so they always need clothes.

Cecil you are welcome here too! :)

Okay, ThredUp emailed back and said that you can only use one promotion or the other. So I guess it’s either your free $10 credit or the free shipping. I’m so sorry…I had understood that you would be able to use both of them together!

I’m glad that I’m allowed because I have been following your blog for a while and my family has benefited from your recommendations.

Sucks that we can’t use both codes, but if we can get $10 in clothes for $6.95 shipping I’ll take it. That’s 30% off already “discounted” clothes.

Cecil, thanks for the feedback! It totally makes my day to know that I am helping someone save.

Yeah, I had already done a previous promotion with ThredUp and so I couldn’t try this one out. But before they allowed two codes to be used. I was disappointed too…but I love your attitude. And yes, you are right, you can still get some good buys.

I would be careful about this company. They have a ton of complaints on the BBB website.
I found their clothes overpriced and worn looking and if you send them clothes they keep some of the nicest ones and tell you they had stains or rips so they don’t have to pay you for them.
    Just a tip.

Amber, thanks for the info. I always appreciate knowing things like that. I checked out the BBB website and I see that it looks like they resolved almost all of the complaints that people had. Did you actually purchase clothes from them or do business with them? I’ve ordered from them several times and have had nothing but great experiences and I’ve gotten probably about 15-20 pieces of clothing. I’ve never sent clothes too them so I can’t say anything about that. I’d love to hear from others of you that tried them.
