Tasty Tuesday: Fruit Slush

I don’t think I ever had fruit slush until I met my husband where it is a family treat.  I soon discovered that this frozen, slushy goodness is the perfect thing for hot weather…and otherwise too!  I love that  it is so versatile.  You can sub other fruit like mandarin oranges, strawberries or kiwis.  If you don’t like bananas, leave them out.  If you want more fruit, just add it.  Don’t like it as sweet, cut back the sugar.  You really can’t mess it up.   It’s just that good.

Fruit Slush

1 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. water
12 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
1 can crushed pineapple
7 to 8 bananas (I like to mash these)
1 to 2 c. blueberries
3 c. peaches
2 c. grapes

Yield: Approx. 4 qt.

Stir sugar into water until dissolved, add frozen orange juice concentrate.  Add desired amount of fruit.  Mix together and freeze.  Remove from freezer 30 minutes before serving.

(I often make a recipe and then put it in a bunch of small containers.  The small containers don’t take as long to thaw and so are perfect to pull out as you sit down to lunch or dinner or for when you want a quick snack.)
