Tasty Tuesday: Fruit Slush
I never ate fruit slush until I met my husband, whose family considers it a staple summer treat. I soon discovered that this frozen, slushy goodness is the perfect thing for hot weather…and otherwise too! And I love how versatile it is. If you don’t like bananas, leave them out. Change it up by subbing other fruit like mandarin oranges, strawberries or kiwis. And if you want more fruit, just add it. Don’t like it as sweet? Just cut back the sugar. You really can’t mess it up.
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 c. water
12 oz. frozen orange juice concentrate
1 can crushed pineapple
7 to 8 bananas (I like to mash these)
1 to 2 c. blueberries
3 c. peaches
2 c. grapes
Yield: Approx. 4 qt.
Stir sugar into water until dissolved, add frozen orange juice concentrate. Add desired amount of fruit. Mix together and freeze. Remove from freezer 30 minutes before serving.
(I often make a recipe and then put it in a bunch of small containers. [I like these Ball brand ones.] The small containers don’t take as long to thaw and so are perfect to pull out as you sit down to lunch or dinner or for when you want a quick snack.)Add a Comment
