Weekly Spending Summary (5/27-6/2)

We just got back last night from a week long trip to Arkansas to visit family.  Now today I’m feeling achy and sick- not a fun way to celebrate being home again!

I did very little shopping this week because of being away.  My sister-in-law needed to go to Walmart the one day so I went with her and grabbed a few deals there.  We also hit a CVS on our way home to Pennsylvania but only because I had Extra Bucks expiring.

Total Spent: $5.98
Total Saved with Coupons: $10.76
Total Saved with Sales: $3.64
Total Saved: $14.40

CVS: $0
Saved with Coupons: $3.76
Saved with Sales: $3.64

  • 4 CVS Facial Tissue $0.77 each
  • M&M’s $0.75

Coupons Used:

  • $3.76 in Extra Bucks (CVS coupons that print at register)

Got Back:

  • $0.75 in Extra Bucks for purchasing the M&M’s (can use on next purchase of any item)

Hudson’s: $5.98

This was for two packages of smoked sausages.  I didn’t take a picture of them because I bought them while we in AR and we ate them for dinner that evening.

Walmart: $0 (gift card)
Saved with Coupons: $7.00

My husband’s employer had given us a Walmart gift card at Christmas.  I used it to pay for this purchase, otherwise my cost would have been $6.94.

The above picture doesn’t show everything I bought because we consumed some of the things on our trip home.  See below for more details.

One of the ways we try to cut costs on vacations is by packing at least some of our own food.  That is why I purchased the bananas, apples and granola bars and that is why you don’t see them in the picture- we ate them on the way home!

While I am not a Walmart fan, one thing that I do like about them is the fact that they give coupon overage.  For instance, the GE light bulbs that I bought were only $1.68 and the coupon that I had for them was for $2.00/1.  Most stores would just round down the amount of the coupon to the amount of the item but Walmart gives the full value meaning I made $0.32 on the light bulbs! The Citronella candles also got me a bit of overage too.

  • Bananas $0.54/lb.  $1.72
  • Apples $1.67/lb.  $2.22
  • 2 GE Light Bulbs $1.68 each
  • 2 White Cloud Tissues $0.86 each
  • Great Value Granola Bars 18 ct. $2.98
  • 2 Citronella Candles $0.97 each

  • Two $2.00 GE printable coupons
  • Two $0.50 White Cloud printable coupons
  • Two $1.00 Citronella printable coupons
