Monthly Spending Summary (May)

I was very excited to be quite under budget this month.  I’ve been trying to be more careful with my spending- more deliberate about buying only what we need and not just buying something because it is a really good deal and could use it but don’t really need it.  It is helping too that I’ve been working at using up my rather large stockpile.  And the side benefit of that?  Getting my cupboards a bit more cleaned out in the process.  Not going to complain about that!

Monthly Grocery/Household Budget: $200
Total Spent: $145.11
Total Saved with Coupons/Sales: $319.40

Week 1: $15.87
Week 2: $60.68
Week 3: $50.58
Week 4: $17.98

Credits: $49.00
$9.00 of this was a check from Endorse.  If you haven’t signed up with Endorse, you really should.  If it is anything like it was before you’ll make a nice little bit just on what you normally purchase.

Ending Monthly Balance: $96.11
This is the amount that I have leftover for the month.

Ending Annual Balance: $312.46
In case you are confused, this is the amount I have left over for the year. So actually, I am under budget by $312.46 for the year.  I like to try to have quite a bit of cushion built up by June because I do a lot of canning and freezing of produce and fruit in the summer and it really kills by grocery budget!

How did you do for the month?  I had challenged you to try to shave just $10 off your grocery bill for the month.  Anyone want to share how it went?

I went from around $450 to $220! My goal was $200, but I did start a stockpile so I’m very pleased for a first month. Also, if I had internet at home I could’ve saved a bundle by printing coupons. Sounds like it may be worth the investment!! The only major changes I made was buying just what we needed and I stopped with the Gerber Grabbers. Now that she can use a spoon baby food fruit is just the same at way better prices. (Someday she will try the real deal). I also enjoyed freezing buns! I never knew it could be so simple! Yay to a good month and hopefully June will be even better, thanks for the inspiration.hey, at this pace maybe I should become a blogger myself! :)

Nice work! You are a nice amount under! Did Endorse start back up? I didn’t get any info from them saying they did but maybe I missed it.

Could you write more about “Endorse”? It sounds intriguing but I am not exactly sure yet by just glancing at the website what it does. Thanks for all the postings.

Casey- I am SO proud of you! You did an amazing job and I love how you saved that much just by being more intentional with what you bought. I’d love to hear more about how you did it. And hey, you are inspiring me so I’m sure if you blogged you could inspire other people too! :)

Coupon Cutting Mom- I don’t think Endorse has started back up yet but they said on their blog to sign up now so that when they do start up you get in on the program before everyone else.

Megan- Thanks for asking. I’ll try to do that soon. And you are welcome. :)
