Weekly Spending Summary (3/29-4/5)

Since I went over budget last month I’m finding myself really watching what I buy more closely and that is a good thing!  So keeping this weeks spending to less than $20 made me pretty happy.  Maybe that should be my challenge for the month- spend no more than $20/wk.  Hmmm…going to have to think about that one!

Total Spent: $19.65
Total Saved with Coupons: $35.18
Total Saved with Sales: $28.45
Total Saved: $63.63

CVS: $0 (gift card)
Saved with Coupons: $16.00
Saved with Sales: $3.98

I used a gift card I bought from Living Social to pay for this purchase otherwise my out of pocket would have been $1.14.  All of this stuff was either free or better than free after coupons/sales.  Love that!  And since toasted tuna and cheese sandwiches are kind of our Sunday evening standby I was especially happy about the free tuna.

Bought:

  • 4 Bumble Bee Tuna 5 oz.  $0.50 each
  • 4 Snickers Eggs $0.50 each
  • Complete $8.99
  • Depends 3 ct. $3.99

Coupons Used:

  • Two $1/2 Bumble Bee coupons from Recyclebank
  • Two $1/2 Snickers coupons from Sunday newspaper coupon inserts
  • $2.00 Depends printable coupon
  • $12 in Extra Bucks (CVS coupons that print at register)

Got Back:

  • $2.00 Extra Bucks for purchasing the Depends (can use on next purchase of any item)
  • $8.99 Extra Bucks for purchasing the Complete (can use on next purchase of any item)

Giant: $4.01
Saved with Coupons: $6.00
Saved with Sales: $5.17

I had a Discover gift card that I earned through a cereal promotion and I used that to pay for $4.91 of my bill.

I was excited to get wipes for an awesome price- less than $0.02/wipe.  Haven’t seen them that low in store for a long time.  The Sorrento ricotta cheese was a bit cheaper than what I pay for cottage cheese at Aldi and since we love ricotta cheese I decided to go ahead and get it.  It makes the best tasting lasagna and I have a spinach quiche recipe that I’d like to try that takes it too.  And those onions you see?  Well, I paid FULL PRICE for them.  And they were $1.00/lb.  Don’t think I’ve ever paid so much for onions before in my life!  I could hardly stand it but I suddenly realized last minute that I was out of onions and was in the middle of making something that onion powder just wouldn’t work for so I ran to Giant and bought these.  So thankful that we only live a couple of minutes away.  Still, I think I’d better do better at implementing the grocery list rule, don’t you think?

Bought:

  • 2 Huggies wipes $2.00 each
  • Pampers Wipes $2.39
  • Sorrento Ricotta Cheese 32 oz $2.50
  • 2 Glad Plug-in Warmers $1.49 each
  • 3lb. Onions $2.99
  • Giant Reusable Bag $0.99

Weis: $15.64
Saved with Coupons: $13.18
Saved with Sales: $19.30

Had fun getting some great buys at Weis this week.  The 4lb. fryer was on markdown (practiced what I told you about!) making it about $0.82/lb.  My mother-in-law has made delicious homemade Rotisserie Style Chicken with these and I plan to try that.

And just in case you follow my coupon usage closely you’ll probably be puzzled about my two B1G1 Free coupon amounts below.  You’ll see that I actually paid less than the coupons were deducted.  I mentioned this to the supervisor who was ringing me up and she said that it was fine because that was the amount that the system told her to put in.  They will get reimbursed the full amount from the manufacturer so I didn’t worry about it and just enjoyed the extra savings!  It made the Ocean Spray Juice just $0.20 each and the Yoplait yogurt a $0.29 moneymaker.

Bought:

  • 2 Turkey Hill Icecream $2.50 each
  • 3 Heluva Good cheese $1.66 each
  • 2 Pompein Olive Oil 16 oz. $2.99 each
  • 3 Yoplait Yogurt $0.60 each
  • Dannon Yogurt $2.79
  • 2 Ocean Spray Juice $2.00 each
  • 4lb fryer at $1.09/lb. ($4.31)

Coupons Used:

  • Two $0.50 Turkey Hill coupons received from manufacturer (doubled to $1.00 each)
:: you can contact Turkey Hill once a month and request coupons- they are more than happy to send them
  • Two $0.50 Heluva Good printable coupons (doubled to $1.00 each)
  • $0.50 Heluva Good printable coupon (should have doubled but it wouldn’t scan so the cashier typed it in and therefore it didn’t double)
  • Two $1.00 Pompein Olive Oil printable coupons
  • Two $0.30 Yoplait Yogurt printable coupons (doubled to $0.60 each)
  • One Buy One Yoplait Yogurt Get One Free coupon from the Sunday newspaper inserts ($0.89)
