Kerri Walsh Jennings, the three-time Olympic gold medalist in volleyball, has given birth to a girl she and her husband have named Scout Margery Jennings. Scout is the couple’s third child, joining older brothers Joey, 3 1/2, and Sundance, 2 1/2. PEOPLE.com reports:
Walsh Jennings, 34, and her husband, pro-volleyball player Casey Jennings, feel “so blessed to have this beautiful new addition to our family,” they tell PEOPLE. “We cherish our lil Scout already and can’t wait to watch her as she grows in this world alongside her sweet big brothers.”
The athletic duo thanks everyone for “your thoughts and prayers. We appreciate them all so very much.”
The latest addition to the family — who weighed in at 7 lbs., 3 oz and is 20¼ inches long — joins brothers Joey, 3½, and Sundance, 2½.
In September, Walsh Jennings revealed not only was her collection of gold medals growing — she and partner Misty May-Treanor won big during the London games — but her family was too.
After delivering both of her boys naturally, the athlete was hopeful she would follow suit with her baby girl’s birth. “Having a natural childbirth just feels right to me, it doesn’t feel like I’m forcing anything,” she said.

Amanda Beard, the swimmer who won 7 medals during a career that spanned 4 Olympic Games, announced that she and her husband, the photographer Sacha Brown, are expecting their second child. The couple’s first child, a son named Blaise Ray, is 3 years old. More from PEOPLE.com:
“We are so excited to add to our family! During my first pregnancy, I was sick the whole time and felt awful,” the swimmer, 31, tells PEOPLE.
“So far this pregnancy has been a lot easier. I’ve only been sick a couple of times and I have way more energy.”
Also delighted by the news is soon-to-be big brotherBlaise Ray, 3.
“He’s so excited. He keeps telling me how he is going to hug and kiss the baby and help me take care of [him or her],” says Beard.
She jokingly adds, “We will see if that actually happens!”

Kerri Walsh Jennings, part of the U.S. Olympic beach volleyball team, won her third consecutive Olympic gold medal at this summer’s London games…while 5 weeks pregnant. The athlete went on the Today show to announce the news this morning:
“When I was throwing my body around fearlessly, and going for gold for our country, I was pregnant, and today I’m 11 weeks pregnant,” Walsh Jennings told Matt Lauer.
Their baby, due April 9, will join the couple’s sons, Joey, 3, and Sundance, 2.
Walsh Jennings, 34, told TODAY.com she and Casey started trying for a third before the Olympics. But she didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. She said she felt “moody and touchy” in London — more than could just be explained by competition stress — and her period was four days late.
“You’re probably pregnant,” her beach volleyball partner, Misty May-Treanor, said. And sure enough, her teammate was right.
“It’s just so exciting,” Walsh Jennings told TODAY.com.
