Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard Welcome Baby Girl

Friday, March 29th, 2013

The actress Kristen Bell and her actor fiance Dax Shepard have welcomed their first child together, a girl they have named Lincoln Bell Shepard.  More from USWeekly.com:

“Lincoln Bell Shepard is here,” Shepard tweeted. “She has mom’s beauty and dad’s obsession with breasts. Hooray!” Bell added, “My new roommate poops her pants and doesn’t pay rent . . . basically Dax Shepard pre-sobriety. Welcome baby Lincoln.”

On Wednesday, Bell tweeted an adorable photo of her dog, Lola, laying its head on her big bare baby bump. “Eavesdropping,” she captioned the shot.

The Veronica Mars star, 32, and Parenthood actor, 38, announced they were expecting last November. The couple, who have been engaged since 2009, said on Larry King Live last August that they were “not really worried” about having children out of wedlock. “The reason we’re not rushing to get married is because I don’t feel appropriate taking advantage of a right that’s denied to my [gay and lesbian] friends,” Bell previously explained to The Advocate.

Singer Lily Allen Welcomes Daughter Marnie Rose

Friday, January 11th, 2013

Lily Allen and her husband Sam Cooper have welcomed a daughter they have named Marnie Rose, PEOPLE.com is reporting:

The couple — who wed in Gloucestershire, England in June 2011 — are already parents to 13-month-old daughter Ethel Mary.

Her rep declined to confirm the pregnancy in July, but after stepping out several times with a burgeoning belly, no official confirmation was needed when 27-year-old Allen appeared radiant on the red carpet during the British Fashion Awards in November.

On New Year’s Eve, Allen was anxious the tot would emerge soon, Tweeting she was “only planning on spending a few days of [2013] pregnant. Unlike the last 3 years.” And she said she had been sampling curries to try to force labor.

Rosie O’Donnell Welcomes Daughter Dakota

Thursday, January 10th, 2013

Rosie O’Donnell and her wife Michelle Rounds welcomed a daughter they have named Dakota, US Weekly is reporting.  The baby, who O’Donnell and Rounds adopted after her January 5 birthday, is the first for the couple and the fifth for O’Donnell, whose older children are named Parker, Chelsea, Blake, and Vivienne.  The four older kids are under a shared custody agreement with O’Donnell’s ex-wife, Kelli Carpenter.

Parents.com’s In Name Only blog explores the meaning of the name “Dakota:”

The baby name Dakota is a Sioux name that means “friendly one,” a sweet choice for a little girl. It’s been in the top 500 baby names in the U.S. since the early 1990s, and is currently hovering around the 300 mark for both girls and boys. While in the past it’s been considered a unisex name, I’m feeling like this one is being taken over a bit by the girls. In addition to being the name of two U.S. states and tribes of Sioux Native Americans, it’s the name of actress Dakota Fanning (lately of the Twilight series), and infamously, the name of the building where John Lennon and Yoko Ono lived—and where he was shot to death in 1980.
