The actress Drew Barrymore has given birth to a baby girl, her first child. Barrymore and her husband, art-consultant Will Kopelman, have named their daughter Olive, which according to Parents.com’s In Name Only blog, is an increasingly popular baby name:
Olive has become a hot baby name of late—fueled in part by those looking for an alternative for top-five favorite Olivia. Its origins are obvious—and though the tree gives us its amazing fruits, it also has symbolized peace for centuries (think “extending the olive branch”). It’s currently in the top 500 baby names in the U.S., and definitely one that’s on the rise. It’s not super common yet in the celebrity realm—actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher chose it for their first daughter, making Drew and Will the second ones to choose the name.
According to Us Weekly, Barrymore said on The Tonight Show in February that she hopes to have multiple children with Kopelman. “We’ll start with one,” she said. “See how it goes and if we could be so blessed . . . that would be wonderful.”
