Giuliana and Bill Rancic Welcome Baby Edward Duke

Thursday, August 30th, 2012

It’s a happy, happy day for Giuliana and Bill Rancic! The couple, who first experienced infertility and miscarriage, and then endured Giuliana’s treatment for breast cancer, have announced that their son was born last night in Denver via gestational surrogate.

Edward Duke Rancic was born at 10:12 p.m. Wednesday and weighed 7 pounds and 4 ounces, E! Online reports.

Here’s more details from E! Online:

“Bill and I are blessed beyond words to welcome Edward into our lives,” Giuliana tells E! News exclusively. “Thank you so much to everyone who supported us along the way. We are so in love with the little guy already!”

The couple exclusively tells E! News that labor was just over four hours and went smoothly and relatively quickly. Both Bill and Giuliana were in the delivery room for the entire birth of their baby. They couldn’t hold back tears of joy the moment their son was born. The Rancics told us they were beyond elated and couldn’t believe their journey to become parents is finally complete.

Bill cut the umbilical cord minutes after the baby was born, and Giuliana was the first to hold her son for a long while, then gave him to Bill to embrace. The new parents both fed their baby, who they say had a big appetite, and share with us that he is doing incredibly well and has had his first bath.

Giuliana, the host of E! News, and Bill, a businessman who won the first season of the reality show “The Apprentice,” have documented their journey as a married couple on the Style Network reality series “Giuliana and Bill.”

Beyoncé and Jay-Z Welcome Daughter Blue Ivy

Monday, January 9th, 2012

Saturday brought a highly-anticipated arrival to the celebrity baby world–the superstar couple Beyoncé Knowles and Jay-Z welcomed their daughter at Lenox Hill Hospital on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.  The arrival was more than a month before the couple’s previously revealed due date, reported. The baby and mother are both reportedly doing well.

After some confusion over the order of her name, sources confirmed Sunday that the baby’s name is Blue Ivy Carter.  The unusual name’s meaning is explained by’s In Name Only blogger, Pamela Redmond Satran:

Inspired by nature, Ivy is an old-fashioned name that’s starting to make a comeback after a century-long nap. US Weekly reports that the couple chose “Ivy” because of the significance of the number “4″ or “IV,” in their lives.  Beyoncé and Jay-Z were born on Sept. 4 and Dec. 4, respectively, were married on April 4, 2008, and Beyoncé’s latest album is entitled 4.

Both the names Blue and Ivy may have musical antecedents.  A film about jazz singer Billie Holiday’s life was called Lady Sings the Blues and another early jazz singer was Ivy Anderson.
