Baby Bikini Onesie Enrages Parents

Parents in Missouri are angry and disappointed because an area department store is selling a baby onesie designed with the silhouette of a buxom woman’s body wearing a bikini.  From The Huffington Post:

Wild Child, a brand manufactured by Bon Bebe, sized the outfit for 18-month-old girls. But mom Cathryn McKee told [Action News 5] news station, “I just think that is a little ridiculous that you would put that on your child.” One father who spoke on camera says he wouldn’t let his daughter wear the “bikini” because “it gives people the wrong idea too quickly.”

Commenters on the Action News 5 website were split. “It’s vulgar [sic],” one posted. To each his own, another argued. “If you do not like, then do not buy it,” John wrote.

The bikini onesie is only one of the Wild Child outfits on Bon Bebe’s website with a questionable message. Another reads “Lock Up Your Daughters” with a graphic of a padlock printed underneath.

I don’t understand why people are getting mad for. I have 2 daughters and when looking for swimsuits for them this summer I have seen way worse than this onesie. They make bikinis and scantily clad 2 piece swimsuits for babies and toddlers. I just feel like if you don’t like it then don’t buy it for your child. There is a market for what they made and it’s selling. All the is doing is giving the onesie and their company more publicity.

Right,,, that kind of clothing abomination could lead one to think we are marketing our infants as sexual objects.. or worse, as evidence that we have a sense of humor.

Come on, parents. Use your voice, your credibility, and your energy to advocate for a cause that might truly change a child’s life for the best. At least resist the urge to whine about a product just because you can.

I really don’t understand what the issue is with these! Most babies that would wear a onesie are usually chubby little things – that’s what makes this so funny, in my opinion.
I’m pregnant with a baby girl and ever since I first saw this whole ordeal on the news, I’ve been trying to find somewhere to buy one of these onesies.

It’s not like they are adding padding to the bikini top area or something – that could be a bit concerning if it was the case… but it’s not!
