‘Octomom’ Doctor Appeals License Revocation

Dr. Michael Kamrava, the Los Angeles fertility doctor whose 2009 in-vitro fertilization (IVF) procedure resulted in Nadya Suleman’s infamous octuplets, is asking for the California medical board to allow him to continue practicing medicine while he appeals the board’s decision to suspend his license.

Dr. Kamrava represented himself in court, according to The Associated Press, and claimed the state’s medical licensing agency “exceeded its jurisdiction and violated (his) due process right to earn a living” by revoking his license.

If the board upholds its decision, Dr. Kamrava can petition to have his license reinstated after three years.  At that time, he would have to demonstrate considerable changes to the medical judgment that led him to transfer high numbers of embryos–12 in an early cycle of Suleman’s–into IVF patients.

What do you think of the medical board’s decision in this case?  Should they uphold it?

His license needs to be revoked. What was going through his head when he implanted 12 embryos? He probably was expecting instant fame and a media circus. Well, it backfired. Because how can you be a doctor when you don’t have the patients’ best interest in mind? Having 8 children was NOT in the best interest of the mom or the poor kids.

Why in the world would ANY doctor allow IVF on a single woman (who already has children) in the first place. I do understand that single women have the right to have children but there needs to be some psycological testing in place that would apply to everyone. She clearly should have been in the mental ward instead of the maternity ward. My thought is instead of taking away his license, hit him where it will hurt the most, his wallet and make him take care of his creations. I am just saying.

Please do not, I repeat DO NOT give this doctor his license back. He has proven that his mind is not in the best interest of his patients. This woman should not have be injected at all. She has children already that she cannot do anything with, now this fool has added 8 more. I can see a disaster waiting to happen. This doctor should not be able to apply for his license ever again in the USA.

There has to be a balance… A doctor should consider all facts before incrimination of anyone. Had his mind , heart and application to his oath been aligned , she would not have found a doctor anywhere that would perform this practice. I’m all for the mothers right to have a baby when she can afford to have the children both financially ,emotionally and physically.
