Natalie Portman, Benjamin Millepied Have Baby Boy

natalie-portman-pregnantNatalie Portman, the Oscar-winning actress, has given birth to a baby boy, according to news reports.  Portman, 30, and her fiance, the dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied, have not released the baby’s name.  According to the Telegraph newspaper:

The Israeli-born, New York-raised actress, who celebrated her birthday last Thursday, announced in December that she was pregnant and planned to marry Millepied, 33, a well-regarded ballet dancer.

In Oscar acceptance speech in February, she paid tribute to “my beautiful love, Benjamin Millepied, who has now given me my most important role of my life.”

She won in the best actress category for her performance as a delusional and a self-mutilating ballerina in Black Swan, Darren Aronofsky’s psychological thriller.

Although the pair are known for being protective of their privacy, they recently made public their joy at the prospect of becoming first-time parents.

“I have always kept my private life private but I will say that I am indescribably happy and feel very grateful to have this experience,” Portman said when announcing her pregnancy.

Dont worry-the baby cries at the bris when the diaper is opened-not because hes hurt! Its because hes cold! Enjoy the beautiful event and Mazel Tov! Kol Tov!

@ Abby. Uh, no. The penis is highly innervated and the foreskin is bonded to the penis head with a membrane not unlike the one holding your fingernail to the bed. That has to be forcefully torn off before the foreskin is amputated with a knife. This is painful. The idea that babies don’t feel pain has been discarded by the medical community long ago. Circumcision is excruciatingly painful and more important than that, deprives a man of his right to refuse amputation of his normal body. That’s a right most women of the world enjoy by enforcement of the law. Something tells me that Ms. Portman is one of the many new parents (even Jews) abandoning this practice.

Your son doesn’t need to be circumcised in order to be Jewish; the Torah defines a Jewish man as one who is born of a Jewish mother, regardless of whether he has undergone bris-pariah (which is predominant in recent centuries but vastly different from the original bris-milah) or was fathered by a gentile. The cutting of the foreskin marks the religious commitment of the man to abide by the Laws of Moses… It would stand to reason that such a thing should not be entered into lightly without deliberate consideration by the man himself; to do otherwise would seem to be an affront to its purpose; but that is only my opinion.

Leave your baby perfect and whole!!! His foreskin has many important protective and, in the future, sexual functions. There is zero reason to remove healthy tissue from a baby, regardless of gender! Best wishes!
