Check Out: ‘Dwarf: A Memoir’

I’m a fan of TLC’s Little People, Big World, so this new book called Dwarf: A Memoir intrigues me. I want to know more about LPs and how to make the world a better place for them. The author, Tiffanie DiDonato hopes for the same. In her memoir, she shares the excruciating details of her controversial limb-lengthening procedures that she had as a child and chose to continue having into her teens. She eventually gained 14 inches–enough so she could drive and reach the kitchen sink. She has faced prejudice from society and even from Little People themselves, many of whom don’t approve of the surgeries.

But she kept on going, and here, she shares what it’s really like to cope with dwarfism. Her optimism and determination are contagious. And Dwarf: A Memoir has a happy ending. It’s not a spoiler to tell you that Tiffanie eventually marries a Marine, and they have a baby boy. Both moving and funny, this is a book to check out.
