Tristan is a top 100 name here in the U.S., a Celtic name that means noisy. (Probably very apropos for most young kiddos you know!) Tristan was one of the knights of Arthur’s legendary Round Table, and had a Wagner opera composed about his love affair with Queen Isolde. Tristan has also been used from time to time for girls, though it still falls heavily in the boy camp—for now.
Sasha, however, at least here in the U.S., is definitely in pink territory. It’s been a top 1000 baby name for girls for more than 40 years, while it’s never ranked in the top 1000 in popularity for boys. It’s a Russian nickname for Alexander, and means “defending men.”
What do you think about Elsa and Chris’s name choices? Do you think they’re too girly for boys, or something you’d consider for your sons?
