You Won’t Believe Who Gave Kim Kardashian Baby Naming Advice…

Monday, September 8th, 2014

So who exactly gave Kim Kardashian and Kanye West the thumbs up on North West as a baby name? You won’t believe it—but it was vaunted Vogue editor Anna Wintour!

According to a recent article in Us Magazine, Kim and Kanye were having lunch at New York’s Mercer Hotel when two luminaries stopped over separately to give them the thumbs up on North West, which had been rumored to be their name of choice. First came Pharrell Williams, who said it was the “best name.” Then later, Anna Wintour stopped at their table to tell them that “North is a genius name.” And apparently, when Anna Wintour gives the thumbs up on your baby name, you’re going with it.

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Pharrell named his son Rocket—and Anna’s daughter, while given the classic name Katherine, goes by the nickname Bee.

That still doesn’t quite change my opinion of their baby name choice, but it helps me understand why something that started out as a joke ended up becoming their daughter’s actual name.

Tell me: Did anyone else’s opinion sway your choice of baby name? And would you let Anna Wintour name your baby?

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Name Their Baby…

Friday, June 21st, 2013

Oh, boy. So a while back there was a rumor that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West were going to name their baby North—a name I think is kind of cool, in a middle-name capacity at least. But paired with the last name West, it felt like a bit of a joke.

But for the little baby of Kim and Kanye, it’s no longer a joke. Because that is indeed what her parents opted to name her. No middle name to temper it (or for her to use if she decides she doesn’t want that ridiculousness as her name). And the nickname they’re using with it is Nori. As in the seaweed used for sushi.

I once knew of a man named Hap—his last name was Hazard. No joke. I guess that people who name their kids things like Hap Hazard, North West and other goofy choices have a more lighthearted view of naming their kids, and don’t expect that their kids need a name that has a bit more gravitas. You probably can figure that Hap Hazard and North (or even Nori!) West may not be President someday—along with Moxie Crimefighter Jillette. Though then again, who knows?

What do you think of their baby name choice? Goofy or cool? And would you have given North West a middle name? Perhaps Easton?

The Weird Kanye and Kim Baby Name Rumor

Saturday, March 23rd, 2013

Everyone’s abuzz about a potential baby name that’s being leaked for the baby-to-be of reality vixen Kim Kardashian and rapper Kanye West. It’s a name I actually kinda like—North. Except when you pair it with the daddy’s last name—West—you get North West. Which kinda seems like a joke someone’s playing on us (or on the baby).

And in fact, some sources close to them are saying the joke’s on us, and they’re actually picking a “K” name to match the Kardashian clan and Kim and Kanye themselves. Personally, I’d go with a name that naturally gets the K—like Katherine, Kaia, Kendra or Kennedy.

My guess is that these two are going to pick something more offbeat, though. One blog suggested Kit as a name, which sounds great with Kardashian, but a little too short with West.

What do you think? Is North a fake out? Give us your best guess what Kim and Kanye will be naming their baby. And don’t forget to like In Name Only on Facebook to keep up with the latest baby names.
