Jennifer Garner Talks Baby Names

Jennifer Garner (who epitomizes the rosy-cheeked pregnant woman) showed up on Jay Leno a few nights ago talking about her third baby, due this spring. Obviously her baby is very important for a number of reasons, namely… its name.

Jennifer and husband Ben Affleck (AKA the first couple of Hollywood) started a trend six years ago with daughter Violet. Since she was born, the name’s risen 249 places, up to number 123 in 2010. Second daughter Seraphina‘s name hasn’t made quite the same splash — it’s still never been in the top 1,000 US names — but I’m predicting it breaks through in the next few years. (I think it’s been slower to catch on because it’s not as trendy as Violet, which has the current old-is-new-again vibe, but my guess is that Hollywood will prevail and Seraphina will have her day.)

Anyways! On to baby number three. As Jennifer told Jay, her two girls are having fun predicting the name. (The parents know the gender, but aren’t revealing.) First it was Disney — “Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse Affleck” — then they moved on to “Peter Pan, Captain Hook, Smee.” Ultimately Jen and Ben will pick the name, but it’s fun (for us, too!) to make guesses. My picks are Mabel for a girl, and Leo for a boy — both fit in with the familiar-yet-uncommon feel of the girls’ names, and flow well with Affleck.

What do you think? What should Violet and Seraphina’s little brother or sister be named?

I agree that we will see more of Serafina.

While Serafina is pretty, I would have loved to see them name their second daughter Sylvia or Silvia. I feel that name goes so well with Violet. I don’t feel Sylvia would work as well now, because I don’t feel repeating the s is ideal.

For a girl, I like Ione although that means Violet in Greek. But since the general public wouldn’t know that, I think they could get away with it. I also love Georgia, but IMO, Georgia goes well with Violet, but not Serafina. Or maybe they could go so old it is bound to come back, like Dorothy or maybe Minerva or Geraldine.

For a boy, I like Adrian for a couple of reasons: Adrian Affleck=swoon and I think Ben Affleck’s brother looks like an Adrian. I also like the idea of Roscoe or Rufus.

Overall, this is one celebrity couple who has great tastes and I’m sure they will pick something nice.
