Whether you’re a Baltimore Ravens or a San Francisco 49ers fan (or just sticking around for the commercials!) the Super Bowl is a great time for the whole family to visit, spend some time together and munch on yummy snacks—usually something fatty and dripping with cheese! Don’t let Sunday be the last hope for your New Year’s resolutions; try some of these great, healthier alternatives to traditional Super Bowl snacks that are sure to be a hit with the whole gang.
It’s hard not to snack all day on chips and dip when they’re conveniently in front of you. Serve sliced veggies instead of chips and crackers with those creamy, cheesy game day dips. Your kids will love this smooth Avocado Dip, which packs a punch of vitamin E, potassium and healthy fats. Let the kids chip in to make these healthy homemade Sesame Herb Crackers to scoop up every last bit!
Here’s some great alternatives for the ultimate fan favorite: nachos. Try these quick and easy Microwave Shrimp Nachos with beans for an added protein kick; or mix it up with a Nacho Casserole, complete with lean ground beef and heaps of all the fixin’s!
For the chili lovers, replace fatty ground beef with a lower calorie Pork Chili or Chicken Chili recipe that is filling- and doesn’t skimp on taste. Leave off the sour cream and cheese garnishes, or sub in lean ground turkey for an even healthier meal.
What’s a Super Bowl party without fried chicken? Substitute these healthier Baked Chicken Strips for fatty buffalo wings and fried chicken legs. Serve with honey mustard dip!
