8 Perfect First Birthday Gifts for Prince George

Monday, July 14th, 2014

It seems like just yesterday that the whole world was waiting for the little kiddo dubbed the “Royal Baby” to be born. There were tons of questions: When would Kate go into labor? Would she welcome a boy or a girl? Would she and Prince William name their child something classic or surprise us all?

Even though a year has passed, people are just as in love with Baby George as ever. Parents only wish their little princes and princesses were among his playmates, and news outlets can’t stop snapping photos of the charismatic cutie.

While we’d eagerly drop everything to attend George’s actual birthday celebration, it doesn’t look like such an adventure is in the cards. Instead, we’ve rounded up a few items that would make suitable presents for the Royal One-Year-Old (or, if you’re feeling super spirited, for your own little prince or princess!). Wanted: A Nanny for Prince George

Monday, January 13th, 2014

Looking for a great babysitting gig? The perfect position has just opened up.

Like many other parents here and across the pond, Prince William and Kate Middleton are looking for child care for their son Prince George. They need a new nanny for Baby George because his current caretaker, 71-year-old Jessie Webb, is going back into retirement. (Fun fact: Webb took care of Prince William when he was a baby.) Because the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are getting ready to embark on a huge tour of two countries, they are going to need the extra help.

If you’re thinking about applying, be prepared to provide some spectacular references. Becoming a nanny is no easy feat, even if you want to care for commoners, so I can’t imagine what the qualifications are for becoming a royal nanny. Last year, NBC News ran a story on how competitive it’s become to be a nanny. Many couples now want nannies who have degrees in early childhood education in addition to experience. Some are even asking for Master’s degrees. Of course, the pay is greater for those with the best resumes; nannies might make $100,000 or more. There is no word on how much Prince William and Kate plan on paying their next nanny, but, no matter what, there are sure to be plenty of perks with the gig.

There have been rumors that Grandma Carole Middleton will help William and Kate out with George, but aides have claimed that these rumors are false. And, of course, Great-Grandma Elizabeth is probably too busy to take on a job like this. It’s probably for the better. Having granny as nanny is a tricky situation for any family, but it is probably even more complex for this royal family. My bet is that they will choose someone else to care for George.

Before they start interviewing, the royal family may want to do some research into which kind of childcare is a good fit for their needs, or they—and, of course, you!—can watch the video below to learn how to choose the right nanny.

The Royal Christening: A Tale of Two Dresses

Tuesday, October 22nd, 2013

It’s royal fever time again: Prince George’s christening is finally here, and it in William and Kate fashion, the event’s likely to  break from tradition, but only in the classiest of ways, from a fashion photographer to changing the location.

First, let’s talk baby fashion. This is really going to be a tale of two dresses: Kate’s, and George’s (and probably the last time we’ll ever be talking about the prince’s dress!). No doubt Kate will wear one of her favorites from Jenny Packham, Alexander McQueen or Amelia Wickstead, my money being on the latter for her formal fitted coats that seem appropriate for a church setting.

However, if Kate’s post-baby body is what I imagine it to be, she may opt for a figure hugging McQueen. There is also the small chance that Kate will do something particularly modern, and even wear a nursing dress under a tailored coat.

As for little George, we expect he’ll be wearing the Spitalfields silk gown replica re-created by the Queen’s royal dresser and designer Angela Kelly.  The original had been worn by 60 royals before George, including his father and grandfather, and is the epitome of traditional.

The surprise twist, however, is the photographer who will be capturing the occasion: Jason Bell.  He’s a cutting-edge fashion photographer known more for his works in Vanity Fair and Vogue than for royal palace photos.

There are a couple of more remarkable things about this pending christening. One is the break from tradition in location.  Kate and William have chosen to hold the christening at the Chapel Royal at St. James’s Palace.  This is significant: It’s not where William nor Royals before him were christened, but it is the place that Diana’s body was laid to rest before her funeral—a location filled with meaning for William and for Kate.  This will also be the first time that the relatives will be all together!  All grandparents will be in attendance, and the future Kings: Prince Charles, Prince William, and of course Prince George. The six godparents, however, still remain a mystery.

So congratulations, Prince George. I can’t wait to see you in your finest.

Numerology of Celebrity Babies & Their Parents

Wednesday, October 16th, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

We’ve called on numerologist Cassandra MacLeane to predict the future and nature of the top celebrity babies of the year. How do they match with their famous parents? What will their personalities be like?

Let’s take a look at some of the most high-profile couples – from Kate Middleton and Prince William, to Fergie & Josh Duhamel, to Kim Kardashian and Kanye West – and how their numerology (mis) matches their new babies. Continue reading Cassandra’s predictions below.

Kate Middleton & Prince William

The most famous parents in the world – Kate Middleton and Prince William – produced a child who could not be more king. It’s like they had planned conception and birth with the idea of producing a perfect heir to the English throne.

Kate and Wills’ son Prince George, born July 22, 2013, is an 8 Life Path baby, under the influence of the master number 22. If you think in terms of energy, this is enormous.

8 is the vibration of the organizer, the entrepreneur, the executive quality, and the person who is better at giving orders than he is at taking them, and also the person perfectly designed to create innovation and stability in the world.

However, this is a big, big personality.

The parents are of gentler life path numbers, and they will need all the help they can get raising this child to live his full potential.

22, the modifying energy in George’s chart, is a strong influence, and gives him the vibration of the master builder. There could not be a more perfect combination for a future king. The description of this chart could go on and on but it would take pages and pages.

As a numerologist, I’m not over the moon about the choice of first name, but, having said that, if there’s one thing Georges know how to do its to keep their inner feelings private. That will probably be helpful in his future role.

As to George’s parents – Kate was born January 9, 1982 giving her a resilient and charming 3 life path. Definitely the vibration of the survivor.

Kate is in an 8 cycle year, next year, when she will fully resume her duties. She will definitely be up to it under the strong energy of the cycle 8 vibration. She is presently in a 7 cycle year – very sensitive.

It’s just as well she was allowed to retreat a little, before and after the birth.

William, born June 3, 1982 is a sensitive 11 Life Path number. 11 is a master number, and should be able to relate very well to his son George who also has the master number 22 as an influence. These two will be great friends.

Fergie & Josh Duhamel

It’s always interesting when a parent produces a child who is the same Life Path as they are.

In this case Fergie, born March 27, 1975, making her a 7 life path under the influence of 9, gave birth to Axl who was born on August 29, 2013, making him a 7 life path as well.

I always tell parents that if they have a child who is the same Life Path as they are, it is important for them to love themselves because they will see themselves reflected in their child every day.

The father of this child, Josh Duhamel, born November 14, 1972, is a 8 life path person under the influence of 5.

8 life path parents are capable of a great deal of love and nurturing, especially for people in their own family. So, although he may not understand the child quite as well as the mother Fergie, he will be able to add a very practical voice to the upbringing of this little boy.

Michael Bublé & Luisana Lopilato

Michael Bublé and wife Luisana Lopilato have produced a child who will keep these two restless and creative souls occupied through all of his growing up years — and probably beyond.

Little Noah, born August 27, 2013, is a 5 life path baby, full of energy, creativity, charm, curiosity and restlessness. 5 life path people are known for their adaptability and their need to be on the move. Noah’s most powerful modifier is 9 (2+7=9). These children are known to be extremely lively and talented.

Noah will be the perfect complement to his parents. Michael is a master number 22 life path, under the influence of 9. No need to explain that great things were expected of him as a child – and he has certainly lived up to his 22 vibration in his career so far. Both artistically and financially.

22 life path people, are meant to have larger than life lives.

Luisana, though dramatic and creative, is actually the quietest energy in this family group. She is a 3 life path person under the influence of 9. Not that 3′s are quiet — in fact, they tend to be quite communicative. But in this dynamic family, Luisana will play the role of peacemaker and stabilizer and provide the glue to keep them all on track.

All three members of this family have 9 as their modifying influence, and therefore, should have a great interest in humanitarian projects.

(Just a note: Michael appeared on my radio show when he was little more than a baby himself — in his teens. At that time I took a look at his numerology and pointed out the potential of his unusual, and powerful life path. Needless to say, has not disappointed.)

Jessica Simpson & Eric Johnson

Ace, born to Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson, is a 6 life path child under the influence of 3. This child will require lots of love and nurturing and a stable family life. Little life path 6′s need the love and security of a stable family more than any other life path.

Let’s hope that Jessica, who is an 8 life path under the influence of 1, will understand how important it is to take plenty of time to nurture this child. As an 8 life path person, she is a natural entrepreneur and organizer. It will be a challenge for her to organize her life so that little Ace will get all the quality time and love he needs.

Eric, Ace’s dad, is an 7 life path person under the influence of 9. This is a very intuitive vibration. However, 7 life path people need to remember to speak their love out loud. There is a tendency for 7 life path people to be rather reserved and sometimes even seem a little cool. This doesn’t mean there isn’t a lot of passion and love under the surface.

This is a particularly interesting family, comprised of a very lovey and demonstrative baby, who is a 6 Life Path under the influence of a communicative 3.

Eric, a dad with a big heart, but some limitations on communicating his true feelings, is a 7, under the influence of 9.

And, of course, Jessica is a strong and organizing 8, under the influence of 1.

Kim Kardashian & Kanye West

Kim Kardashian, born October 21, 1980 is a 4 Life Path, and her influence or modifier is the communicating and outgoing 3 (her birthday reduced to one number). 4 and 3 are both vibrations with great communication skills and artistic talent.

Baby North is a 9 life path child, born June 15, 2013, under the influence of 6. We believe that 9 Life Path people are old souls, and that they come to earth with natural wisdom and intuition. This child will be extremely loveable throughout her life, have tons of charisma, and will have a strong need to be of service to others.

Kanye West, born on June 8, 1977, is a 2 life path person, under the influence of 8. Kanye will desire peace in his home, above all else. Peace may be a bit difficult to achieve living with such creative and naturally dramatic family members.

Shakira & Gerard Piqué

Shakira, born February 2, 1977, a 1 life path under the influence of 2.

Gerard Piqué, born February 2, 1987, is an interesting and complex 11 life path under the influence of 2. This is, of course, a master number life path.

Their son Milan was born January 22, 2013, is a 2 life path child under the influence of 22 — another master number.

This is an extremely interesting, powerful, and complex family. Gerard with his 11 Life Path is very compatible with Milan, since they both have master numbers in their charts.

Shakira, the 1 life path mother under the influence of 2, will love her baby unconditionally. She also has an important 2 influence in her chart, which will help her relate to the sensitive side of this child.

How to find your life path number?

First, reduce each unit of your birth date (month/day/year) to a single digit number or a master number (master numbers are 11, and 22). Next, add each of the resulting digits (or master numbers) together and reduce the total again to a single digit, or a master number.

For example, if you were born on October 12, 1981 you would calculate your life path number as follows:

◦ Month: October is the 10th month of the year. 10 reduces to 1 (1+0 = 1)

◦ Day: the date of birth is 12. 12 reduces to 3(1+2 = 3)

◦ The year of birth is 1981 (1+9+8+1 = 19, then 1+9 equals 10 and finally 1+0 =1

◦ Now add the resulting single digit numbers 1+3+ 1 = 5. This is a 5 life path person.

The master numbers, 11 and 22 are left intact, and they’re a little trickier to calculate.

Examples of master number people are Michael Bublé born September 9, 1975:

◦ Month: 9

◦ Day: 9

◦ The year of birth is 1975 (1+9+7+5=22) then 2+2 = 4.

◦ Now add the single digit numbers together

◦ 9+9+4 = 22

Michael Bublé is interesting in that his life path number is a master number 22, and when he reaches age 54 he will actually be even more powerful — a master number 22, under the influence of master number 22.

Now in his life he is a 22 life path person, under the influence of 9. This is a formidable energy.

It seems to be true that more 11 master number people are born than the master number 22.

This is an example of an 11 life path child. February 21, 2004:

◦ Month, February (2nd month of the year so it is expressed as a 2). Day of birth is the 21st, which reduces to 3 (1+2=3)

◦ The year of birth is 2004 (2+0+0+4 = 6)

◦ Now add the digits together and stop when you reach 11

◦ So that is: 2+3+6=11.

Master numbers are harder to calculate, but it is important not to treat an 11 as a 2, or a 2 as a 11. It is equally important to distinguish the difference between 4 and 22.

Numerology is not for sissies!

Buy the Royal Baby’s Car Seat

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

When we saw Prince William carrying his son out of the hospital in a car seat, we had to know what brand the new parents chose for their  baby. (We were also quite impressed with William’s car seat-installing capabilities.) It wasn’t long before we pinned down the product: Britax B-Safe Infant Car Seat in an all-black style.

Lucky for your little princes and princesses, this car seat is available at Shop Parents for just $134.99. If this royal baby has any impact on baby gear like his mother does on fashion, this car seat will be flying off the shelves in no time.

Baby Cambridge’s Debut With Kate and William: Royal Baby News

Tuesday, July 23rd, 2013

Baby Cambridge debuts with Kate Middleton and Prince WilliamKate Middleton and Prince William emerged from the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital today to debut their new baby prince. “It’s very emotional,” said new mom Kate, “It’s such a special time. I think any parent would know what this feeling feels like.”

According to William, they’re still debating names for their new son, but the proud new dad said that we’ll know when they know.

Beyond Kate looking amazing (I’d heard rumors that her beloved hair dresser had arrived at the hospital earlier today, and her locks were of course in perfect form), both parents seemed so super happy—and actually eager to share their little one with the world. In fact, Prince William took a front-and-center role in the brief interview they granted the throngs of long-waiting press.

When a reporter asked if they’d already changed the royal baby’s first “nappy” (that’s “diaper” in American speak!), Kate revealed that not only had her husband, Prince William, been present for Baby Cambridge’s birth (sadly, a historic event for the royals!), but that he also changed his son’s first diaper. Perhaps the royals are finally catching up to the rest of the world when it comes to hands-on fatherhood!

Although we didn’t get a good look at the (possibly) future King’s little face, William joked that “he’s got her looks, thankfully,” and that in the hair department, Baby Cambridge has “way more than me, thank God!”

To top off the new-dad offensive, Prince William showed the world that he knows how to handle a car seat (sexy, right ladies?!) and then, perhaps setting the stage for a far more modern royal family, he drove his new family home himself. No chauffeur in site. Love. It.

Take a look back at the Royal pregnancy, Kate and Will’s romance, and more with our Royal Baby slideshow.

Rosie to the Rescue: The Royal Baby Fever

Friday, June 28th, 2013

Rosie PopeAs the “royal baby fever” heats up, many of us have burning questions about how His or Her Royal Highness (HRH) will be raised, named, fed, clothed, schooled, and introduced to the Windsor and Middleton families—and of course us, the adoring public! So what do we know?

For starters the baby will be born in the Lindo Wing, the private wing of St. Mary’s hospital, which costs roughly 10,000 pounds. There, the royal couple will have access to postpartum and breastfeeding support, among other services. This is the same hospital wing that Prince William and Prince Harry were born in back in the 80′s. Prince Charles managed to sneak his way into the delivery room with Princess Diana, and William will be with Kate during her delivery, too. (The royals have modernized at least in some ways!) What is perhaps the most refreshing aspect of the delivery plans is that Kate is rumored to want both her mother, Carole, and her sister, Pippa, present with her in the delivery room—at least for the first part of labor. Add two esteemed doctors to the mix, and you have quite a crowd. In fact, critics have jested that it reminds them of the old, public, royal births when almost anyone could come by and view!

Proceedings after the birth will follow tradition with a 41 gun salute, a speech given by the Prime Minister in Parliament, and a poetic note displayed at the gates of Buckingham Palace announcing the royal birth. And amidst all the excitement outside, the royal couple will be presented with a comprehensive wine (and Champagne) list in the exclusive hospital wing should they wish to enjoy a toast to celebrate their new arrival!

Perhaps most interesting—and extremely significant in my opinion—is just how much Kate’s relationship with her mother differs from previous mother-daughter relationships in the royal family: The Queen’s parenting style has been notoriously distant, and she’s famous for “trying” to spend an hour a day with her kids; Diana and Fergie’s mothers both bolted from their fathers and took up refuge in far-off lands (the isolated Scottish Isles and Argentina, respectively); and Princess Diana’s tragic death came early in the princes’ lives. Kate, on the other hand, has a seemingly great relationship with her mother and plans to be a present and engaged mother herself. This baby is going to benefit enormously from the—dare I say it—more normal, affectionate, and hands-on parenting style of the Middletons. While this baby will be royal, HRH will be more Middleton in upbringing than Windsor!

In keeping with this close-knit family, a few short days after the birth of baby Albert, George, Charlotte, or Alexandra (all strong name contenders) will be whisked off not to the royal residences, but to the Middletons’ new manor house in the Berkshires (a very affluent country address). For the first six weeks of wee HRH’s life, he or she will be with grandma Carole and grandpa Michael. William and Kate’s snazzy residence at Kensington Palace is 300 years old and still undergoing massive renovations to remove asbestos and get it ready for the new royal family. But despite the renovations, I believe it was a deliberate decision of Kate and William’s to reside with the Middletons’ during the first weeks of the baby’s life, wanting the support that Kate’s family can provide.

Kate’s nursery decorating style will mirror that of her taste in fashion: elegant and classic with a modern twist. We certainly won’t be seeing any blinged-out, diamond-encrusted cribs in the royal nursery! Instead, Kate has invested in a Moses-style basket that will reside beside her bed for the first weeks, as Kate and William plan to have the baby sleep in their room at first. (Perhaps this is a nod to attachment parenting from Kate and William?) While Kate will of course have family help and the support of a staff, I have no doubt that she will be a hands-on mother as much as her position allows.

One of the most speculated aspects of the royal baby is HRH’s hair color. Many are wondering if HRH will have red hair, or be a “ginger” as we call it in England, just like his or her famous uncle! Geneticists have explained that the gene for red hair color is recessive, so the baby would have to receive the recessive gene from both Kate and William in order to be born a ginger—which apparently is a 50:50 chance!

So get your mini Union Jack ready, pour yourself some tea (or, if you prefer, some Pimm’s), and be prepared to be glued to the TV, because D-day is almost here!
