American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win $68 Worth of Goodies from Burt’s Bees Baby

Thursday, March 13th, 2014

Brand-new baby skin can take your breath away. It’s amazing how soft and unlined their little feet are, and how delicious they smell.

But because babies are thrown into our world, they get wacky skin conditions too. A final surge of postpartum hormones can trigger infant acne, for instance, or a long winter’s month in diapers might start a nasty diaper rash.

When looking for baby skincare products that work for your infant, try out the Burt’s Bees Baby line. I like that they’re so widely available and that plenty of products are $10 or less. But mostly it’s nice that they make such an effort to use natural ingredients, and offer some fragrance-free options for extra-sensitive kids.

Burt’s Bees Baby is offering THREE lucky winners each a pack of goodies for Baby’s skin, including Cream-to-Powder rash soother, Kissable Cheeks Balm for lips, Calming Nourishing Lotion, plus the line’s Original Shampoo & Wash, Bubble BathChlorine-Free Wipes, Multipurpose Ointment, and Nourishing Baby Oil. Each set retails for $68.

To enter, leave a comment below, up to one a day between today and the end of the day March 19. More Qs about our giveaway? Read the official rules. Be sure to check back on March 20 and scroll to the bottom of the post to see who won. American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win a $97 Swaddle Set from Woombie

Thursday, March 6th, 2014

Swaddling is a hot topic in babyhood these days. The traditional wrapping method is not especially quick or effective for parents like me who can’t seem to get a squirming baby wrapped tight enough. That’s why the inventors of the Woombie were kind of genius, figuring out how to create a zip-up one-step swaddle system. We’ve had editor-moms swear by it!

The Woombie swaddles are a safe way to keep your infant swaddled from birth and through the first few months or to no later than about 6 months. After that, a baby needs his arms free to push up and lift up his head should he roll over. They make a Woombie convertible that can turn into a traditional sleep sack for that purpose. Also the Air Sleepers give babies the use of their arms and helps keep their temperature regulated.

Why all this talk about swaddling and movement and temperature? If you haven’t checked out our recent report in American Baby‘s March issue, How Safe is Your Baby’s Sleep?, give it a read! Our executive editor will also be on Fox & Friends this Saturday morning; watch for her safe-sleep segment in the last half hour!

And this week, ONE lucky winner will get a safe-sleep swaddle set from Woombie, including the Woombie Air plus matching hat, Organic Air Sleeper, and Cozy Dry Towel; all of this retails for $97!

Parents Goody Giveaway: Win a $300 Bluetooth Speaker That Plays Karaoke from Singing Machine

Tuesday, March 4th, 2014

By high school I became a real choir nerd. I had always been in music class, but after competing in a singing competition my junior year, it became a serious outlet. I was a bit on the shy side growing up, so singing in front of a crowd helped me break out of my shell in ways I never thought possible.

Once my parents realized my interest, they got me my very own karaoke machine to practice on. I’m telling you, I used that thing religiously every day, not just for voice lessons but also for my own amusement. Despite the fact that writing will always be my first love, there are still days I miss practicing those tunes.

Not to get too carried away with the power of a karaoke machine for a kid, but mine really did help me find more confidence in myself. That’s why I got super excited when I learned about the Singing Machine Home, the first Bluetooth speaker to turn into a karaoke machine. All you have to do is plug this baby into your TV and connect using Wi-Fi to access a platform of 8,000 plus HD karaoke videos. It also lets you create playlists, choose avatars for singers and share clips on social media.

This week, ONE lucky winner will have the chance to nab the Singing Machine Home for their family; that’s a $300 value! To enter, leave a comment below, up to one a day between today and the end of the day March 10. More Qs about our giveaway? Read the official rules. Be sure to check back on March 11 and scroll to the bottom of the post to see who won. We reach out to winners via Facebook message (it goes into your “other” message folder on Facebook), so if you win, look for us there as well. Goody luck!

Before you know it, you’ll have your own little star on your hands! Now, you can get your kid’s vocal chops going by having them sing along to this beloved tune.

Congrats to our winner Nina Lisk!

American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win $100 of Kapital K’s Boy Clothes Plus an Infant Car Seat Canopy and Footmuff

Thursday, February 27th, 2014

It may still be snowing outside, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to start thinking about dressy Springtime clothes for Baby. Here at the magazine, we’ve already been scouring the best outfits, soon to appear in an upcoming slideshow on the site. Look out for it in March!

One company that caught our eye is Kapital K. For one, we love that it’s a clothing line that caters specifically to boys. From plaid polos to cargo shorts, the collection has an urban downtown vibe, so your little boy can be comfy and hip at the same time. Even better, the clothes are super affordable, with prices from $18 to $42. One of our absolute favorite pieces is the bow tie romper at right; it’s playful but still gets across that dressed-up feeling. Check out the retailers that offer Kapital K in your area and online!

With the crazy weather, making sure Baby stays protected and warm is another big priority. The Shell from Imagine Baby is a footmuff that fits most infant car seats, while The Shade is a canopy that helps block out wind. Both have UPF 50+ sun protection, are machine washable, and can be used year round, making these a must-have for travel come rain, shine, or snow.

This week, Kapital K and Imagine Baby are joining together to offer ONE lucky winner a $100 Kapital K clothing credit as well as The Shade and Shell, with a combined retail value of $170 for everything.

To enter, leave a comment below, up to one a day between today and the end of the day March 5. More Qs about our giveaway? Read the official rules. Be sure to check back on March 6 and scroll to the bottom of the post to see who won. We reach out to winners via Facebook message (it goes into your “other” message folder on Facebook), so if you win, look for us there as well. Goody luck!

While you wait, learn when it’s time to switch from your infant car seat to a convertible one!

Congrats to our winner Jes Stefanson!

Parents Goody Giveaway: Win $100 Shopping Spree at The Children’s Place

Tuesday, February 25th, 2014

Back in December, The Children’s Place gave us a sneak peek of their Spring stuff, and I kept a photo of two outfits on my phone through the long and dreary January and February as a promise that warm weather will come. (It’s between pictures of my Christmas tree and holiday lights!) Now all this cuteness is rolling into stores, and I am so ready!

Here are the major trends I’ve noticed not just from The Children’s Place, but all the kids stores: Lots of brights, pants with all kinds of patterns (flowers, dots, skulls, stripes, you name it), lace for girls, and camo for boys. There’s also a Mexicana theme in some girl clothes, with embroidered-looking flowers and designs. So pretty! And (maybe because I have an 8-year-old boy who still doesn’t want to deal with pants that button) I’m kind of obsessed with all the pull-on plaid shorts for little dudes. Preppy and practical!

Stock up on spring fashion for your own kiddo by entering our latest giveaway. The Children’s Place is offering ONE lucky winner a $100 gift card!

To enter, leave a comment below, up to one a day between today and the end of the day March 3. More Qs about our giveaway? Read the official rules. American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win a $95 Bunting from 7 A.M. Enfant

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

We are total suckers for the bright neon colors of the 7 A.M. Enfant line. It’s so fun to see a baby bundled in one of these sacks, or a mom using one of the collection’s bright diaper bags, or a parent making use of these genius stay-on-the-stroller mittens, called Warmmuffs.

It’s why we were inspired to photograph a baby in this bunting for our February issue! Specifically we photographed a baby in the Doudoune, which has holes that accommodate stroller straps. You can also change the zipper feature at the bottom so that it’s more like a snowsuit, with separate legs, than a sack, if that’s what your baby prefers.

This week 7 A.M. Enfant is offering ONE lucky winner the Doudoune bunting, a $95 value! The winner can choose what color they prefer.

To enter, leave a comment below, up to one a day between today and the end of the day February 26. More Qs about our giveaway? Read the official rules. Be sure to check back on February 27 and scroll to the bottom of the post to see who won. We reach out to winners via Facebook message (it goes into your “other” message folder on Facebook), so if you win, look for us there as well. Goody luck!

P.S. we don’t recommend using bunting in the car seat because the inside of your car warms up pretty fast and you don’t want your baby to overheat. Here’s some other safe-driving rules for parents that are worth reviewing!

Congrats to our winner Aura Haft!

Parents Goody Giveaway: Win $100 for Cute Kids Clothes at Naartjie

Tuesday, February 18th, 2014

Getting dressed in the winter always proves to be a bit of a hassle. And bundling layer upon layer to brave the cold is especially hard on kids who can’t stop longing for the easy days of summer. Fortunately, despite the dreary weather outside, many clothing brands are now debuting spring lines to lift young spirits.

One line to check out for cute summer clothes is Naartjie Kids. Founded in 1989 in Cape Town, South Africa, the collection made its debut in the U.S. in 2001. Since that time, it’s been adding a whole lot of color and personality to kids’ wardrobes stateside. The bright dots and flower patch on this hoodie dress definitely remind us of carefree sunny days, and this robot tee makes a fun character shirt for boys.

Help your little one gear up for summer by entering our latest giveaway with Naartjie Kids. They’re offering ONE lucky winner a $100 gift card to spend on the site. To enter, leave a comment below, up to one a day between today and the end of the day February 24. More Qs about our giveaway? Read the official rules. Be sure to check back on February 25 and scroll to the bottom of the post to see who won. American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win Svan’s $179 Baby-to-Booster High Chair

Thursday, February 13th, 2014

The highchair aisle has changed in the past few years. The number of just-highchairs has gotten smaller, and the range of seats that morph from infant highchairs to boosters has grown. Seems fair; if you’re going to park a new chair in the kitchen, it should be one that can stay for a few years!

We recently got to preview Svan’s new Baby-to-Booster, and it’s a beauty. Here at the magazine we kind of lust after the old-fashioned wooden chairs, and this chair is birch save for the tray and seat pad. But like a modern chair it folds up, and the footrest adjusts as your kid grows. It’s safety tested for ages 6 months to 5 years, so your baby may just be doing kindergarten homework in it some day!

This week, Svan is offering ONE lucky winner the chance to scoop up a Baby-to-Booster Bentwood High Chair, a $179 value!

To enter, leave a comment below, up to one a day between today and the end of the day February 19. More Qs about our giveaway? Read the official rules. Be sure to check back on February 20 and scroll to the bottom of the post to see who won.
