Take Your Kid to A Broadway Show—For Free

Friday, January 4th, 2013

Since my daughter is obsessed with theatre, I’m always looking for good deals on tickets—and Kids’ Night on Broadway in New York City is a bargain. This annual event (which runs from February 25 to March 3) allows you to get a free kids’ ticket with the purchase of an adult seat. It essentially amounts to half-price tickets, which are hard to come by for popular, rarely discounted shows like Wicked and The Lion King. Other good choices for 6- to 10-year-olds include Newsies, Mary Poppins, and Annie. Tickets go on pre-sale today for members of the Broadway Fan Club (it’s free to join) and, on Monday, the tickets will be open to the public. (If you don’t snag seats today, additional tickets will be available next week.) Another plus: During Kids’ Night shows, mini theatre-goers get to meet some of the actors and take part in activities. If you don’t live in the New York area, still check out the website for Kids’ Night events nationwide throughout 2013.

American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win a Diaper Dude Boba Baby Carrier!

Friday, June 1st, 2012

June brings us Father’s Day, which leads us to…gear that guys love! That’s the specialty of Diaper Dude, a company founded by a dad, Chris Pegula, in LA (that’s him below!). He’s got three kids, and didn’t want to carry a diaper bag with, say, flowers or bears on it. When he began selling his cool, more manly diaper bags, he got a lot of gratitude from fathers everywhere. Celebrity dads, including Brad Pitt, have been photographed with his designs.

This month brings an exciting partnership between Diaper Dude and Boba, the baby-carrier company. They’ve created a Special Edition Diaper Dude Boba Carrier that will have Dad still looking like a dude when he carries around his little one. It’s a limited edition, so to get the word out, and to help get someone a cool Father’s Day gift, they’ll give away one $125 camo carrier to someone who posts a comment here. You have until the end of the day on Wednesday, June 6th to tell us what makes the dad in your life so cool! For the full rules, check here. And if you’re looking to buy the camo carrier, it goes on sale June 11th at Bobafamily.com and at some select retailers. Goody luck!

PS after you leave a comment for this giveaway, check out our other huge contest: Poshtots is giving away a $10,000 shopping spree here

American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win a Prodigy Car Seat!

Friday, November 4th, 2011

Even if you haven’t had your baby yet, you’ve probably heard that a car seat is tough to install correctly. (Most people can’t do it!) Summer Infant spent years perfecting this new Prodigy infant car seat, which has a panel that guides you through installation—and rewards you with a light-up smiley face when you’ve got things right. Our other fave feature: The straps never need to be rethreaded, a simple tug adjusts them to your baby’s size each and every time. (Important if your baby is a bit bigger when he’s bundled for the cold, for instance!) The Prodigy is $180 at Babies “R” Us, but the team at Summer Infant is letting us give two out to our lucky readers. To enter, just post a comment below between now and Friday, November 11, 2011, and we’ll randomly choose two winners. We’d love for you to tell us your biggest concern when it comes to car seats. And hey…if it’s getting one installed correctly, we also encourage everybody to go to SeatCheck.org, put in your zip code, and find your nearest safety-check station. An expert set of eyes and arms is awesome for getting a car seat in the right way! For full rules, click here. Goody luck!
