Where to Find an Anna or Elsa Dress

Thursday, July 3rd, 2014

When we heard that Frozen princess dresses have been selling out in Disney World each day, it got us wondering…are they really so hard to find? The most gorgeous, premium Anna and Elsa dresses are now on Chasing-Fireflies.com, the site behind the Wishcraft catalog. However, they’re not shipping yet and they won’t be cheap. The Elsa dress shown is $130; the Anna is $124 and when we looked, neither would be available until the end of August in smaller sizes. The size-10 Anna coronation dress looks to be backordered through the end of October!

Less-expensive BuyCostumes.com has pared-down Elsa and Anna frocks, backordered until just after Labor Day. Their Elsa is $38, and Anna is $40.

On to the Disney Store, and…they don’t have the dresses yet either, but nice ones are coming. We saw the two shown below, Anna’s with the cape and Elsa’s with cool ombre sleeves, at their fall preview. AND they are going to have an Olaf costume! No word on exactly when they’ll all hit shelves, but they’ll be about $50 each.

In the meantime, there are $30 dresses for both sister characters at Toys “R” Us and at other mass merchants. Fair warning, the user reviews are brutal. (As in, “The tulle sleeves are like sandpaper.”) But desperate times may call for desperate measures, scratchy sleeves and all. Or try and teach your little princess the virtue of patience!

Heading to the Magic Kingdom? Your kids may be more interested in meeting the celebrities characters than the rides! Watch our video.

American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win a Holiday Outfit for Baby

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

The very cutest things I get to see in my job as Senior Lifestyle Editor at American Baby are the tiny outfits. Babies are a joy to dress, or at least mine were. My brother joked that my daughter Grace was like Diana Ross, with several outfit switches in a day. And although boys’ clothes are somehow never as cute, I had a good time dressing up my son in plaid pants like a little old man. Dress your babies up before they have opinions of their own, is what I say!

I find myself with some teeny-tiny holiday outfits here in the office, and they need some babies to go with them! Maybe yours? The smallest outfit is for a baby girl from The Disney Store, in size 6 to 12 months. It’s actually a shirt attached to a bodysuit, with a tulle skirt that can be pulled over top. It sells for $29.50 here at The Disney Store.

This lavender number is from The Childrens Place, and is sized 12-18 months. It’s now on sale for $10.50, so seriously, if you don’t win it and still want it, find it here at The Children’s Place web site!

And then we have a bunch of holiday goodies from Tiny Tillia, sold through Avon, so I’ll divide that into one set of Polar Bear pajamas and a robe in size 2T, and a second set of baby accessories that includes socks, a bib, a hat, and red mittens. The robe is $20 and the pjs are $15, sold here at the Tiny Tillia site. The total worth of the baby accessories is $28 and they’re also sold on the site.

To be eligible, leave a comment below between now and the end of the day on Wednesday, December 5th. Tell me what your big baby photo opportunity is this season. (Visit with Santa? Christmas morning in pjs? Dressed up for dinner at grandma’s?) For the complete rules, click here. Goody luck!

Make Your Beauty Routine Bippity – Boppity – Boo-tiful!

Monday, October 15th, 2012

We know that when moms invest in beauty products, you’re expecting them to work a little bit of magic. New lines from EOS, Sephora, and Basq are promising to do just that, all with a touch of whimsy thanks to their Disney-inspired packaging.

Using Alice in Wonderland as its muse, skin care company EOS just launched a new line of lip balms in Blueberry Potion, Sweet Vanilla Nonsense, and Watermelon Wonderland flavors. As if that’s not fun enough, the egg-shaped applicator features Mickey Mouse shaped grooves.

For a bit more of the “royal” treatment, head on over to Sephora, which is unveiling individual cosmetic lines for every Disney Princess. The three piece Cinderella collection is available now. The stunning packaging references different scenes in the film, and each shade name is based on objects or characters in the film.

Last but not least, The Disney Store recently teamed up with maternity skin care company Basq to create a line for expecting moms. Our favorite product is Pure Bliss, a lotion that chills your skin to provide relief from daily aches and pains. Now if that’s not magic I’m not sure what is!

American Baby’s Baby Booty: The Disney Store Turns 25

Thursday, March 22nd, 2012

We’ve got several huge Disney fans here in our offices. I’m definitely one of them. Mostly, I love Disney World itself. But when I can’t go down to the parks, I get a lot of joy out of visiting a Disney Store. There’s a big one here in New York City, right in Times Square, where I like to bring my college roommate Tami. She collects Tigger stuff. I was also there a lot (more than I want to admit) when my daughter, Grace, was in full princess mode, and when my son, Joe, thought he had to have every Cars character. I’m serious, the Disney Store has WAY better princess dresses and a lot more Cars figures than any regular big-box store you’ll visit. Does that sound geeky? So be it. You can’t accuse me of having not done my research.

The kids and I in our happy place, Magic Kingdom

The Magic Kingdom in Orlando just turned 40 in October, and now The Disney Store is turning 25. To help them celebrate, you have until the end of the day on the store’s birthday, Wednesday March 28th, to leave a comment here and be registered to win $265.95 worth of Disney Store merch.

Get all this loot!

Be warned: There’s no baby stuff. (But check out the baby line here, I love the grows-with-baby bodysuits.) This giveaway does include plenty for Disneyphiles who appreciate anniversary-labeled gear. It includes T-shirts for Mom, Dad, Sister and Brother; two collectible statues (one worth $99.50 and one worth $44.50); Mickey plush and Sorcerer Mickey Vinylmation. (Never heard of Vinylmation? It’s…a Disney thing. See a bunch here.) And a lot more stuff.

Leave a comment! Tell me if your baby has a favorite Disney character yet, or if your nursery is Disneyfied. We hear that The Lion King has now taken over as a favorite nursery theme, even beating out longtime number-one Disney nursery theme Pooh. You can read the full giveaway rules here. Goody luck!
