My brother, due to become a first-time father this month, got one baby item that is his and his alone: A Steelers diaper bag. He’s pretty psyched to carry it. And I’m a little jealous!
We’re a football family but, this being baseball season, I want to give an shout-out to one of my favorite dad-inspired companies, Diaper Dude, which just debuted a Major League Baseball line. Getting Dad a diaper bag that he likes not only makes him a part of the whole “nesting” phenomenon, it helps ensure that he’ll actually take the baby on outings without you. In other words, it’s pretty key!
And you know, you can totally take one of these bags to a ballgame long after your baby is out of diapers.
I’m just going to have to ask the Diaper Dude owner, Chris Pegula, shown here with two of his kids, why I’m not seeing the Pirates as one of the team choices. Hey! We’re not all from LA or NY!
What’s your favorite baseball team? Leave a comment below, up to one a day between now and the end of the day on Thursday, June 20th, and you can win a Diaper Dude MLB bag, worth $78. If you win, you can pick your team! (Though you may be limited to the ones they show on their site.) Because our comments below use Facebook technology, you’re going to want to check your “other” Facebook message folder on June 21st to see if you’ve won. I’ve included a picture of what it looks like; it’s the gray word “other” next to your message inbox. We’ll also try and post the winner’s name as a comment to help you all out. Here’s where you can read all the official rules. Goody luck!
Congratulations to our winners Tiffany Sugranes and Holly Marie Nace!

If you ask me, diaper bags are more durable and therefore more fabulous than a regular purse. Or weekend bag. I have a Ju-Ju-Be bag that goes with us on car trip, beach trips, and most frequently, camping trips. I love its huge size, the fact that it’s wipeable inside and out (they treat it with Teflon!), and that it’s stuffed with a zillion pockets, so I can try to make sense of all of my kids’ stuff (and my own).
When I read the online description of Ju-Ju-Be’s Be Prepared bag and saw that the opening line is “Are you an overpacker?”, I had to laugh. When I go away and pack my Ju-Ju-Be, it’s got snacks, clothes, toys, electronics, raincoats, my wallet, sunscreen and a whole lot else. No one would ever do a “show us what’s in your bag!” magazine article on me, because the contents of my bag wouldn’t even fit on a page.
I am happy to announce that Ju-Ju-Be is letting us give away a brand-new Be Prepared bag, a $180 value. There it is below, getting its photo snapped in our office! Want to know more about the bag? There’s a cute Ju-Ju-Be video that explains all the features, from the memory-foam shoulder strap to the special pocket for your sunglasses. All you have to do to be entered to win is leave a comment at this post. Maybe tell me if you’re using a diaper bag, or just turned a regular purse into your diaper bag…I’m always curious what other moms are doing. You have between now and the end of the day on Wednesday, February 13th to comment, up to one comment a day. Then we’ll randomly chose a winner. Here are the complete rules.
And while I have you…please also vote for your favorite stroller and car seat! There are great prizes there as well. Goody luck!

Diapering your newborn can be a daunting, stressful task. New parents may be completely clueless on how to change a diaper, what to expect inside of the diaper after a few hours of wear, and how to pack a diaper bag for on-the-go use.
Luckily, Weston, Conn. mom Jennifer Roh recently launched Diaper Bag Dailies to help make diapering duty as seamless as possible for all parents.
Roh drew from her own experience with children–she has two young boys ages 3 and 15 months–to design pre-packaged themed diaper kits filled with daily diaper bag essentials like diapers (of course), hand sanitizer wipes, and diaper cream. All kits are also accompanied with reusable inserts such as baby bodysuits, pacifiers, and nail files.
The eight themes on sale include: crib sheets, sick kid, airplane, sun & swim, green & organic, potty training, and snack. The kits retail between $26 and $32 and include special items appropriate to each theme. The sick kid kit includes extra diapers, the airplane kit throws in a ready-made formula in a 2 oz. bottle (TSA-approved!), while the sun & swim kit includes swim diapers and sunscreen. An additional twins kit retails for $40 and includes double the basic items.
Parents can select their preferred diaper brand (Huggies or Pampers), formula brand if it applies to the kit (Enfamil Premium or Similac Advance), and diaper size. Diaper Bag Dailies provides alleviation to the stress associated with diaper duty that can be well worth the price. And if you really love it, a subscription to Diaper Bag Dailies ensures automatic refills–so that you’ll never have to worry about last-minute diaper purchases again.
