When you think of New York City, you might not automatically think of a cranberry bog. Yesterday, however, the good folks at Ocean Spray decided it was about time New York got a bog of its own and created a 1,500-foot Cranberry Bog at Rockefeller Center, with special guest Martha Stewart taping her show live. The company created a Thanksgiving table full of children from New York City Public schools who spent the day eating delicious foods and participating in fall-themed crafts.
The event was sponsored by Share Our Strength’s “Families Feeding Families” campaign, aimed at ending childhood hunger by 2015.
The “pseudo” Thanksgiving table was complete with Martha Stewart cranberry-inspired garnishes and foods such as a “Cranberry Trifle.” The table itself was surrounded by more than 2,000 floating cranberries, so all of the children and staff had to wear boots and waders to enter.
