When it comes to transitioning your little one into a new childcare situation, savvy planning — and a couple of key products — will minimize the stress and tears. So whether it’s his first day of day care or tenth visit to the babysitter’s, bring along these finds, which are currently discounted by up to 50 percent at our e-retail site, Shop Parents.
• Put your peanut at ease by sending along a soothing lovey like this Little Diva teething blanket.
• Pack a change of clothes — like this floral dress and striped-polo-and-shorts set — for inevitable accidents.
• Transport their gear in style with a colorful and roomy carryall like Amy Butler for Kalencom’s Tulip diaper bag.

I’m a big fan of clever and unique t-shirts, especially literary-themed ones from the company Out of Print, which puts familiar and unique covers of famous classic and modern classic books on super soft tees. (For the record, I own a gray Pride and Prejudice tee and a white The Great Gatsby tee with an art deco design.)
As the Toddlers/Preschoolers editor at Parents.com and a fan of childen’s books, I’m excited that Out of Print launched a collection of kids’ t-shirts showcasing covers of classic and popular children’s books such as The Wizard of Oz, Charlotte’s Web, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Harold and the Purple Crayon, In the Night Kitchen, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, and more.
The tees are unisex for ages 2 to 6 and cost between $22-24. As with all Out of Print t-shirts, for each one sold, one book is donated to a community in need through Books of Africa.
Now, I’m counting down the days until these children’s books make their way onto adult-sized tees…

Who says you can’t afford designer kids clothes? Dress your child in a colorful, detailed, and eco-friendly wardrobe from the Stella McCartney Kids collection. A year after McCartney created a successful capsule collection for Gap Kids, she launched her own collection today to dress babies through 12-year-olds. Like her own clothing designs for adults, the kids clothes are completely vegan and organic.
Prices for babies’s clothes range from $20-$78 while prices for older kids’ clothes range from $30-$145. Most of the clothes are also unisex, with older girls and boys sharing the same plaid shirts, sweaters, and jackets (including a fantastic military jacket, the most expensive piece at $145). Not only will your child become a snappy dresser, but your purchase of a “Leo Sweatshirt” also ensures a donation to an environmental charity.
