Call the ‘sitter, it’s Hollywood’s biggest night out!
Some of our favorite celebrity parents attended the 2013 Academy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday (February 24). From mom-of-three Reese Witherspoon, to power couple Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner, to parents-to-be Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, let’s look at the best – and worst – dressed of the evening.
Parents-to-be Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum rocked the red carpet on Hollywood’s biggest night. Jenna dressed her baby bump in a body-hugging black lace Rachel Roy gown with cap sleeves and a deep V-neck.
The mom-to-be accessorized with one-of-a-kind Irene Neuwirth earrings and Christian Louboutin’s Aida clutch in nude satin.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck – parents to daughters Violet, 7, and Seraphina, 4, and son Samuel, 1 on Wednesday – looked every bit the glam Hollywood couple.
Walking the red carpet in style, Jennifer looked stunning in a custom Gucci gown paired with Neil Lane jewels and a Roger Vivier clutch. And Ben didn’t look too shabby in his dapper tuxedo, accessorized with his shiny trophy!
Helen Hunt went eco-chic in an H&M couture midnight blue gown in silk satin. The actress – who is mom to 8-year-old daughter Makena – debuted H&M’s eco-friendly initiative with the environmental group Global Green.
Going equal parts glam and down-to-earth, Helen paired the strapless gown with $700,000 worth of jewels by Martin Katz which were sewn right into the dress.

CelebrityBabyScoop is taking a look at 10 celebrities who have used a surrogate mother to expand their families. From Elton John, to Nicole Kidman, to Giuliana Rancic, to Sarah Jessica Parker, hear how gestational carriers have helped change the lives of some high-profile families.
Elton John
Sir Elton John and David Furnish welcomed their second son Elijah on January 11, 2013. The doting daddies used the same surrogate mother for their 2-year-old son Zachary.
“She is a wonderful, kind and loving woman,” Elton said of their surrogate, who thinks of her as “part of our family.”
The couple used the same egg donor for both boys and have chosen not to find out either of their son’s paternity.
Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed daughter Sunday on July 8, 2008. But after a “roller-coaster ride with fertility,” the couple used a gestational carrier for their second child, now 2-year-old daughter Faith.
“Having given birth and then being there to see my child born in that way, I felt so much love for our surrogate, gestational carrier,” Nicole said.
The Academy Award-winner went on to discuss why she uses the term “gestational carrier” as opposed to “surrogate” – something she was criticized for in the days following the announcement of Faith’s birth.
“We were trying to be accurate,” she shared. “The term ‘gestational carrier’ is used if it’s your biological child and if it isn’t, then you use ‘surrogate.’ I mean, who knows what it is. But she’s the most wonderful woman to do this for us.”
Elizabeth Banks
What to Expect When You’re Expecting actress Elizabeth Banks and husband Max Handelman have welcomed both sons – Felix, nearly 2, and Magnus, 3 months – via surrogate mother.
“Like Felix, Magnus was born via gestational surrogate,” she shared. “This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude, and established a relationship that will last a lifetime. I am also so very thankful to our family and friends for their support throughout this process, as well as the Center for Surrogate Parenting for helping make all this possible.”
“It was a womb issue for me. Embryos wouldn’t implant,” she said of her fertility issues. “It’s a big leap, inviting this person into your life to do this amazing, important thing for you. And it’s hard losing that kind of control. But our surrogate is so extraordinary, and she’s still in our lives. She’s like an auntie.”
Neil Patrick Harris
How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris and partner David Burtka are dads to 2-year-old twins Harper and Gideon. The Doogie Houser alum opened up about welcoming the twins via surrogate mother.
“We really, really wanted kids,” NPH said. “We really had thought it through financially, emotionally, relationship-wise. We didn’t just accidentally get pregnant and decide that now we need to make this work. These kids come into our world with nothing but love.”
The handsome couple talked the science behind the birth of the fraternal twins, revealing each father fertilized one egg and the twins were carried and born via one surrogate.
Burtka explained that the twins were conceived by “two eggs, two embryos, one of mine, one of his.”
The couple knew the surrogate, whom Burtka described as “more like the oven.” And they found an anonymous egg donor through a donation bank where they were able to research her personal and medical history.

Love is in the air!
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Celebrity Baby Scoop asked some of our favorite celebrity moms how they keep the romance alive in their relationships. From Brooke Burke-Charvet’s scheduled date nights, to Soleil Moon Frye’s gadget-free time, to Eden Riegel’s Valentine’s Day plans, read about how the stars keep the flame burning.
Sheila Kelley
Author and actress Sheila Kelley is bringing sexy back with a new campaign entitled, Redefining Sexy: Believe In Your Beauty, which aims to redefine the terms “sexy” and “beauty” through a provocative video featuring true stories of real women.
Mom to Ruby, 12, and Gus, 18, with husband, actor Richard Schiff, Sheila opened up about keeping things sexy in her marriage as well.
“My hub-man Richard Schiff and I are madly in love because he lets me be a woman, and I let him be a man,” she said.
“We balance each other and we have this love affair that’s like a dance of masculine and feminine energy,” Sheila added. “It’s divine. We both travel a lot for work and are sometimes apart for months at a time. He’s in New York right now for a role in Glengarry Glen Ross with Al Pacino. So I fly in to see him and we have these very intense romantic weekends at our favorite spots in Manhattan.”
Kearran Giovanni
Actress and mom Kearran Giovanni stars in the new hit TNT drama Major Crimes, the spin-off of the critically acclaimed series The Closer.
The actress — mom to daughters, Jordan, 4, and Peyton, 2, with husband Philip Ambrosino — chatted about keeping the flame burning in their relationship.
“We switch off roles constantly,” she shared. “And we have a set Thursday night date night.”
Rosie Pope
Pregnant in Heels star Rosie Pope and husband Daron Pope are parents to three kids: sons J.R., 4, Wells, 2, and 9-month-old daughter Vivienne.
The maternity concierge dished about keeping the romance alive in their busy household.
“This is going to sound corny but we are still so in love and we love being a family more than anything so even if we are at home, once the kids are in bed, we always make time to sit down together over a glass of wine,” Rosie said. “I think whether it’s a date night or a glass of wine on the couch it’s just about finding that time together.”
Melissa Joan Hart
Sabrina The Teenage Witch alum Melissa Joan Hart and her husband, musician Mark Wilkerson, are parents to three sons: Mason, 7, Brady, 4, and Tucker, 5 months.
The Melissa & Joey star shared how her and her hubby are keeping the romance alive in their busy household.
“We are so in love with our children and family,” MJH said. “It helps our bond grow even stronger!”

Brooke opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about partnering with Kleenex brand to fight the flu season in a “sweet and thoughtful” way. In the land of fame and fortune, the limelight can be a bit too blaring for some high-profile families.
From Oscar winners Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas to Julia Roberts, CelebrityBabyScoop takes a look at five celebrities who opted for a peaceful and low-key locale outside of Tinseltown.
Vera Farmiga
The Departed star Vera Farmiga and her musician husband Renn Hawkey are raising their two children – son Fynn, 4, and 2-year-old daughter Gytta – in Upstate New York, about two hours outside of New York City.
The family-of-four reside on a farm with four goats and no nanny. They rely on the help of family members when they require a babysitter.
“In another life, I was a shepherdess,” the mom-of-two said.
“I like being off the grid,” the Up in the Air actress added. “I want to be self-sufficient and live off the land. I’ve become a farmer in my spare time. It’s really sort of a great place where I can be centered and have a great perspective on what it is I want and need.”
Julia Roberts
Pretty Woman star Julia Roberts and husband Danny Moder raise their three children – 8-year-old twins Hazel and Phinnaeus and Henry, 5 – on a ranch in Taos, New Mexico.
“It’s peaceful, and it’s a relief,” Julia said of raising her family away from the spotlight. “I always say you can’t be in a bad mood here. I don’t know if it’s New Mexico or just the mountains, but you can’t be silly in a negative way. You can be silly in a fun, whimsical way, but the petty, trite things that make you go, ‘Oh, God, it’s not the right size’ or ‘Why is this happening like this?’ —that kind of stuff doesn’t exist so much here. Everything is kind of clear.”
Michael J. Fox
Actor and Parkinson’s research advocate Michael J. Fox and his longtime love Tracy Pollan have raised their four kids – Sam, 23, twins Aquinnah and Schuyler, nearly 18, and Esmé, 11 – outside of the limelight.
“We made a decision really early on, before the Parkinson’s diagnosis, that we’d move back East,” the Back to the Future star said.
“We’d just bought a house in Bel Air [Los Angeles], but we never moved into it,” Michael added. “We had an awakening one day that we don’t want to raise our kids in an environment that’s largely show business and built on whose father had a bigger opening weekend. It seemed fraught with peril. New York seemed like a better bet. There’s much more variety in the people that they meet and the relationships they have [in New York]. It’s much more real. They don’t live in a bubble. And I know where my kids are all the time.” He adds, “We have a responsibility to make sure that they’re good people, not destructive; that they’re contributors who don’t feel entitled. They’re good kids. I can’t imagine reading about them [in the tabloids].”
Jamie Lynn Spears
Jamie Lynn Spears was just 16 when she had one of the most high-profile teen pregnancies in Hollywood history. The lil’ sister of popstar Britney Spears escaped the public eye and moved home to Mississippi to raise her now 4-year-old daughter Maddie Briann.
“Was it hurtful for my parents to read stuff about their daughters? Yes. Obviously seeing [sister Britney Spears' negative tabloid coverage], I knew how far it could go,” Jamie Lynn, now 21, said.
“I’ve never wanted to be put under that kind of scrutiny,” the young mom added. “I just wanted to get away from it as much as I could, to just go away and be a mom and figure out what I wanted, and to earn a sense of respect back for myself. Move to a town in the middle of nowhere and just raise my child. All I could be was a good mother. If anybody had anything to say after that, there was nothing I could do.”
Michael Douglas & Catherine Zeta Jones
Academy Award-winners Catherine Zeta-Jones and husband Michael Douglas recently relocated their family from Bermuda to New York City. The America’s Sweethearts actress revealed their reasons for the big move.
“It was to etiquette the kids and just to come back and enjoy this fantastic city we’re able to live in,” she said.
However, the loss of anonymity took some getting used to for their two children, son Dylan, 12, and daughter Carys, 9.
“Well, for them, they were naked opening the back door — so was I — and just running out naked into the garden and it’s really hard to do that in Central Park,” the mom-of-two said.

Honestly, she’s one of our favorite celebrity moms. From her chic sense of style, to her hands-on playdates at the park, to her eco-friendly business, we can’t get enough of Jessica Alba. After creating The Honest Company last year, the mom-of-two is now joining forces with zulily to share her safe and sustainable products with a new audience.
Jessica opens up to CelebrityBabyScoop about her daughters Honor, 4, and Haven, 1, who “like to play, explore, get messy, and are creative.” She goes on to talk about modeling eco-friendly habits for the girls, her book that will hit shelves in March, and her upcoming film that she can’t wait to take Honor and her friends to see.
CBS: We hear The Honest Company has joined forces with zulily. Tell us all about the new partnership.
JA: The Honest Company and zulily both believe in simplifying families’ busy lives by bringing them affordable, stylish, and trusted products every day. Our companies also support using business for social good and are committed to giving back to families in need. So, I knew working together would be a great extension of our Honest mission.
Because zulily is about helping moms discover new brands and products, we’re excited to reach this new audience, share our safe and effective eco-friendly products with them, and grow our communities together.
CBS: How are your daughters doing? What are they into these days? What do they do to make you laugh?
JA: Every day with my girls is a dream and just hanging out with them is the best thing ever. They’re happy and healthy 1- and 4-year-olds who like to play, explore, get messy, and are creative. And since they’re typical kiddos, they’re bound to make me laugh.
CBS: What are some of the ways you get your girls to be eco-friendly? What are some tips in teaching our kids to love our environment?
JA: First and foremost, we try to model and practice eco-friendly habits for the girls. Otherwise, we talk to them about being mindful and explain that things can be turned into something else one day. This can be as simple as teaching them about recyclables and showing how to sort bottles and cans from trash.
We also do a lot of DIY crafts like using cardboard boxes to make airplanes and dollhouses—our creative playtime together similarly shows the girls about repurposing old items.
Involving children in gardening and cooking is another great way to inspire eco-friendly living. Caring for the plants in our herb wall garden helps Honor understand the steps to growing food (including patience!), how it ultimately lands on her plate, and about being a good steward of the planet.
Honor is also a great sous chef when we’re in the kitchen, so being a part of the dinner process encourages her to eat the foods she grows and develops her taste for fresh ingredients. Hopefully, this lays the foundation for children to prioritize their health and that of the planet.
CBS: What’s up next for you?
JA: I’m very excited to publish my first book The Honest Life this March! It’s a colorful how-to guidebook for people who want to make a healthy and non-toxic home without giving up the fun fashionable things. I hope people will be inspired to make the ideas their own and find what works for them.
Also, I’m looking forward to taking Honor and her friends to see my upcoming animated film Escape from Planet Earth because it’s really a sweet story. I had a lot of fun working on this film—it was great to play the nemesis since I don’t often get to play that role.

Call the ‘sitter — it’s date night for mom and dad!
And there were some stunning mamas on the red carpet! From new moms Adele and Claire Danes, to an expectant Kristen Bell, to preschooler moms Jennifer Lopez and Halle Berry, it was a star-studded night to remember. Take a look through CelebrityBabyScoop’s list of celebrity parents at the 2013 Golden Globe Awards. Who was the best – and worst – dressed?
Mom-of-one Halle Berry pulled an “Angelina Jolie” and showed some serious leg at Sunday night’s event. And Jennifer Lopez stunned in a Zuhair Murad long-sleeve silk gown featuring an ivory embroidered lace overlay with beading detail, Christian Louboutin heels, a Jimmy Choo bag, and Le Vian jewels.
Expectant mama Kristen Bell looked lovely in a Jenny Packham dress alongside her dapper fiancé Dax Shepard.
One of the night’s big winners, new mom Claire Danes, was accompanied by her husband Hugh Dancy and wore a custom-made Atelier Versace gown paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.
New mom Adele radiated on the red carpet in a Burberry dress, Miu Miu heels, and jewelry by Cartier and Van Cleef and Arpels. And not to mention her glowing trophy for “Best Song.”
And Jessica Alba hit the red carpet in a melon silk Oscar de la Renta gown paired with Harry Winston jewelry and a Roger Vivier clutch. The mom-of-two presented the award for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Television Film to Kevin Costner for his role in Hatfields & McCoys.
So many lovely gowns and pretty parents! Do you have a favorite?

From the Beckhams to the Gerbers, there’s no denying good genes!
So it’s no surprise that Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia has taken up modeling at the age of 10. And we weren’t shocked to see the 10-year-old son of David and Victoria Beckham posing for the newest Burberry campaign.
Take a look at six celebrity kids who have made their modeling debut.
1. Kaia Gerber
At the age of 10, Kaia Gerber, the stunning daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford and husband Rande Gerber, made her modeling debut for Young Versace. But according to her model mom, the now-11-year-old won’t be making a career of it any time soon.
“At this point, she’s too young to pursue a career,” Cindy said. “There aren’t even a handful of jobs for a 10-year-old girl. But if she’s 17 and wants to try it…of course, what can I say? She’s really into singing and acting. She kind of jokingly said—I’m not even sure if it was jokingly—‘I might model first because you don’t have to know how to do anything, but then I want to be a baby nurse.’”
2. Max and Emme Muñiz
At the tender age of two, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony‘s twins (now 4 1/2) made their modeling debut as the faces of Gucci’s children’s line in October 2010.
Alongside their famous mama, the twins looked too cute for words in their designer duds. “It’s the first time I have worked with my kids in that way,” J.Lo said, adding that the twins “had fun” posing.
In honor of the collection, Gucci donated $1 million to UNICEF’s Schools for Africa initiative and $50,000 to Jennifer’s charity, the Maribel Initiative.
“It’s exactly why I’m excited to be a part of this,” said the mom-of-two. “Now there are two Gucci spokesbabies for a beautiful cause!”
3. Ava Sambora
Bon Jovi rocker Richie Sambora and actress Heather Locklear are proud parents to 15-year-old daughter Ava. In March 2010, when Ava was just 12, she made her modeling debut at LA Fashion Week.
The blonde beauty premiered her famous father’s women’s fashion line White Trash Beautiful. Looking beyond her years, Ava was cheered on by her beaming parents as she strutted her way down the catwalk.
“My daughter’s beautiful, she’s gregarious, she’s funny, she’s smart,” Richie gushed. “I’m beyond proud. The only modeling she has really done has been at my shows. That is where we are right now – her priorities are schoolwork and also I believe in maintaining the innocence of children. Before that when she is 18 or 19 she is going to do what she wants to do and I’m going to support her and help her through it.”
