Celebrity Moms Share Back To School Tips

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

By Jenny Schafer

It’s time to start thinking about the back to school season.

While this time of year can cause stress and anxiety, Celebrity Baby Scoop reached out to some savvy celebrity moms – and rounded up top favorite brands – to help beat the back to school chaos.

Jennie Garth

Mystery Girls star Jennie Garth and her ex-husband, Twilight star Peter Facinelli, are parents to three daughters: Luca, 17, Lola, 12, and Fiona, 8. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum, 42, shares her favorite back to school quote, from none other than Dr. Seuss.

“You’re off to great places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting, so get on your way!”

The mom-of-three went on to share her favorite aspect of the back to school season. “[I love] all the excitement that brews over new classes, new teachers, new clothes and a new year of experiences,” Jennie tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Some of her favorite back to school products? “I love Mabel’s Labels because it makes everything so easy to keep track of — especially when you have 3 girls,” Jennie says. “I also love the Planet Box lunch boxes — they keep everything fresh without hurting the environment.”

Rosie Pope

Pregnant in Heels star Rosie Pope and her husband Daron are parents to four kids: sons J.R., nearly 6, Wells, 3, and daughters Vivienne, 2, and Bridget, 5 months. The mother-of-four, 34, advises moms to start their day earlier than everyone else.

“The more time you give yourself the less stressed you’ll be,” Rosie shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

“I found myself constantly nagging the kids to get dressed, eat breakfast, run to the car, run, run, run,” she admits. “[Then I asked myself] why make the morning so stressful when adding an element of time can make each morning so much more fun. Waking up earlier also means earlier to bed and that gives you a little personal time too.”

As for the back to school season excitement, Rosie says she’s a “total nerd.”

“I’m a total nerd at heart and so I love, love preparing for back to school with stationary buying adventures and picking out this years’ back packs,” she admits. “The more excitement around school, the more your child will want to go and that’s a beautiful thing.

Melissa Joan Hart

Sabrina, the Teenage Witch alum Melissa Joan Hart and her husband, musician Mark Wilkerson, are parents to three sons: Mason, 8, Brady, 6, and Tucker, nearly 2.

The mom-of-three, 38, talks about the “bittersweet” aspect of the back to school season.

“It’s always bittersweet when the fall arrives and it’s time to get the kiddies back to school,” MJH tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “It marks the end of summer and signifies that your little ones are growing up too quickly.”

That said, the Melissa & Joey actress is sure to count her blessings at the same time.

“But, usually for busy mommies, it can be a blessing to have your days to yourself again — at least for a little while,” she says. “But it also means busy mornings trying to get your picky eaters to hurry and finish their sausage and eggs so they don’t miss the bus or the bell. And it also means the crazy over-scheduled sports routines begin again — not to mention homework.”

The actress goes on to share some of her favorite back to school products that help her smooth-out the transition.

“Some things that help me get my kids back to school ready are Mabel’s Labels because I can make sure all those coats, backpacks, lunch boxes and hats don’t go missing,” says the busy mom-of-three. “It’s always nice for the kids when you send them off with a new first day of school outfit, and of course a new pair of sneakers by Stride Rite that will help them get the most out of walking those hallways and navigating recess times. And Net Nanny is a great tool to help parents feel like they are protecting their kids when they are online attempting to do their homework.”

Courtney Lopez

Extra host Mario Lopez and his wife, Broadway dancer Courtney Lopez, are parents to daughter Gia, nearly 4, and son Dominic, 11 months. The mom-of-two, 32, opens up about the back to school season.

“The back to school brings an excitement to our household,” Courtney tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “We love school!”

Courtney goes on to share some of her favorite back to school products.

“It’s always fun to order Gia’s new Mabel’s Labels to help keep her stuff out of the lost and found, her stylish, yet dependable Stride Rite shoes, and now we have discovered Net Nanny to keep her safe when she uses the internet for any cute little assignments,” she shares. “I just finished reading a book from Melea Johnson (“Create Your Own Money Saving Adventure” fromwww.freebies2Deals.com) on how to save for all of our back to school goodies, too.”

Natalie Morales

Today Show co-anchor Natalie Morales and husband Joseph Rhodes are parents to two sons: Josh, 10, and Luke, 6. The NBC News star talks about about her love of the back to school season.

“Back to school has always been my favorite time of year,” Natalie tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “Now that I have kids, even more so! It’s about new beginnings, new possibilities and of course back to school shopping.”

The mom-of-two, 42, shares her best tips for getting ready for the season.

“A few weeks before school starts, I always look through my kids clothes and make sure they have everything they need,” she shares. “I have them try on stuff that they may have outgrown and figure out what I need to replace. And I love getting new school supplies. I still remember every year I always loved getting my new Trapper Keeper. With two young boys who lose everything, I also make a point of labeling everything and I love Mabel’s Labels.”

Brooke Anderson

Entertainment Tonight correspondent Brooke Anderson and her husband Jim Walker are parents to daughters Kate, 5, and Lily George, 8 months. The mom-of-two, 36, talks about her love for school and getting her girls ready for class.

“School is the first step in making your dreams a reality,” Brooke shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

She adds: “My mom was a teacher so I saw firsthand how hard she worked to ensure her students learned as much as possible while also having fun. It’s important to not only nurture learning and reading in our children, but to thank the teachers who dedicate so much to helping kids grow and achieve.”

And it’s a bittersweet school season for her elder daughter who is entering “big girl school.”

“I love the fresh start and new beginning that comes with every back to school season,” Brooke says. “A new backpack, pencil set, and first day outfit add to the excitement too. I have to say, I’m a little emotional about it this year as my daughter graduated preschool and is starting kindergarten — real school! Where did my little baby go? Although I’m anxious, luckily she is thrilled and cannot wait to begin ‘big girl’ school. So no need to worry! Right?!”

Brooke goes on to share some of her best tips – and products – for the back to school season.

“When I say I label everything withMabel’s Labels, I label everything – backpack, lunch bag, clothes, shoes,” she admits. “It gives me peace of mind that her belongings will always make their way back to her even if she misplaces them (as 5-year olds tend to do). And bonus, the labels are super cute and fun. My daughter loves to pick out her own clothes and shoes and I’m sure the first day outfit will be a big deal [laughs]. She will probably choose her fave Hello Kitty Stride Rite kicks to give her a little luck as she navigates kindergarten.”

Nina Garcia

Project Runway host Nina Garcia and husband David Conrod are parents to two sons: Lucas, 7, and Alexander, nearly 4.

“I love to see my kids energized by the back to school excitement,” the mom-of-two, 49, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “They can’t wait to see their friends, meet their new teachers, and get back to their routine.”

As for getting her sons prepared for class, Nina enjoys every moment.

“We really enjoy planning for back to school and buying their uniforms for school and sports,” Nina shares. “We order most of our back to school clothes from Lands Ends, LL Bean, Patagonia and Brooks Bros. We use Mabel’s Labels to organize it all.”

She adds: “I remember the excitement that I felt when going back to school. I enjoy seeing the excitement now in my kids and I do my very best to make it a family planning event.”

Molly Mesnick

Bachelor couple Jason and Molly Mesnick are proud parents to 1-year-old daughter Riley.

“When I was a kid, buying all of my new school supplies was the best part of getting ready to go back to school,” Molly tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “I still love doing that with Ty today,” she says of her 9-year-old stepson.

Some of her favorite back to school products?  “I love Mabel’s Labels, the reality star, 29, says. “[They are] perfect for the kids’ lunch boxes, gym shoes, and school supplies. I also love to stock up on Stride Rite shoes. The kids wear through them so quickly, so we’ll get them a few pairs for every occasion and activity.”

Garcelle Beauvais

NYPD Blue star Garcelle Beauvais is proud mom to three sons: Oliver, 23, and twins Jax and Jaid, nearly 7.

With her second children’s book titled, I Am Living In Two Homes, coming out August 19 on Amazon, the actress-singer, 47, shares her favorite mommy motto.

“I always say, ‘Be the BEST you can be,’ to my boys,” Garcelle shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

As for her favorite aspects of getting back to school, the mom-of-three admits she gets wrapped up in the excitement of the season.

“I love the shopping, of course,” she laughs. “Target is our go-to store. I also love the excitement of getting to see which teacher we get and which friends are in the boys class.”

And she shares her favorite back to school products. “[I love getting new] backpacks, Stride Rite sneakers, cool water bottles, all labeled with Mabel’s Labels.”

Chandie and Joey Lawrence

“Here we go again” is Chandie and Joey Lawrence‘s favorite back to school quote. The couple are parents to daughters Charleston, 8, and Liberty, 4.

As for their favorite aspect of the back to school season, Chandie says it’s “the excitement from our girls.” She adds: “Getting new lunch boxes, backpacks and clothes. And, them seeing their friends again! We get excited seeing all the new things they are learning and remembering.”

The couple went on to list their favorite back to school products.

“[We love] Mabel’s Labels – gotta label things, right?” they laugh. “[We also use] Thirty-One gifts lunch totes and utility totes for dance and sports; Funkins cloth napkins (perfect little place mats for the not so clean lunch room tables); Sistema food containers (they are totally amazing); Nalgene water bottles; and of course the LL Bean backpack (they are indestructible). As well, Lunch Box Love have these little love notes with fun trivia which a staple for the lunch bags — the perfect reminder that they are being thought of during the day.”

14 Celebrity Moms Breastfeeding in Public

Thursday, July 31st, 2014

Considering their lack of anonymity with paparazzi lurking at every street corner, we salute celebrity moms who breastfeed their babies while out and about!

Although it’s still considered taboo in some circles, there’s no shame in nursing your baby in public — or on the cover of a magazine for that matter! And we’re so glad that celebrity moms such as Gwen Stefani, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Kourtney Kardashian are on board.

Take a look through our pictures and read about 10 celebrity moms who have breastfed in public.

Kourtney Kardashian

Reality star Kourtney Kardashian was seen breastfeeding her daughter Penelope in Miami, Florida.

After taking a dip in the pool with her kids, Kourtney was later seen breastfeeding her then 12-month-old baby girl.

Kourtney has been outspoken about her love for breastfeeding. When her sister, Kim Kardashian, was pregnant, Kim recalled a conversation she had with Kourtney about the possibility of wet nursing.

“She said to me, ‘One sister should babysit all the kids, so I can go out or vice-versa, and whichever sister is babysitting should just breastfeed all the kids that are there,’” Kim shared.

While Kim was “disgusted” by the idea, she went on to ask Kourtney, “Does that not freak you out?”

Kourtney responded with, “No, it doesn’t,” adding, ”That’s what they did back in the day.”

Gwen Stefani

No doubt about it, Gwen Stefani loves being a mama.

The Just a Girl singer, 44, recently shared an image via Instagram, breastfeeding her 5-month-old son Apollo during their family vacation. “#Switzerland,” the mom-of-three captioned the precious pic.

The rockstar mama Gwen Stefani was also seen sharing a tender moment with her then 3-month-old son Zuma on a park bench in Los Angeles. A few months later, the mom-of-two talked about how Zuma self-weaned during No Doubt’s reunion tour.

“I didn’t want him to [quit],” Gwen said. “It felt like a total rejection. It was really hormonal, and trying to stop in the middle of tour was insane.”

Natalia Vodianova

Joining in on the trend, Russian model Natalia Vodianova shared the first photo of her son Maxim, who was born in early May, via Instagram. In the shot, the naked model mom is seen breastfeeding her newborn.

Pink:

Pink has been open about her attachment parenting philosophy. Tweeting her response to this year’s controversial TIME magazine cover on extended breastfeeding, she wrote:

“I felt that the article in TIME on attachment parenting was unfortunately a tad extreme. I support attachment parenting 100%… And have a very happy and healthy little girl to show for it. It’s time we support what’s healthy (breast feeding) instead of judge it.”

Alicia Silverstone

Eco-friendly mama Alicia Silverstone was seen nursing her son Bear Blu, then 10 months, in March 2012. While wearing her son in a baby carrier, the actress was also breastfeeding her boy.

Since welcoming her firstborn child with husband Christopher Jarecki, Alicia has written about nourishing her son on her blog The Kind Life. The Clueless star admitted breastfeeding can be painful at first, but the outcome can result in “insane feelings of ecstasy.”

It can be [painful], but just at first,” Alicia wrote. “What I’ve been told is it’s important to have the bonding latch right away. Everyone I know who had pain in the beginning says how amazing it was after the first two weeks – that the insane feelings of ecstasy while baby nurses are the best ever, and that it’s so worth the baracuda jaws for two weeks. Also, I have seen and heard so much about how the baby, when first put on the chest immediately after birth, will crawl up to your nipple after a while and open its mouth like a little bird looking for the nipple. How cute and precious is that?”

Jaime King

After struggling with infertility and numerous miscarriages, actress Jaime King proudly shared a photo breastfeeding her son James.

“Breastfeeding should not be taboo- and bottle feeding should not be judged- it’s ALL fun for the whole family,”she captioned the Instagram shot.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

When her daughter Ramona was 7-months-old, Maggie Gyllenhaal was caught by the paparazzi breastfeeding in a New York City park. At the time, the internet was abuzz with controversy over the intimate shots. Some said the paparazzi were too intrusive, while others felt that Maggie didn’t seem fazed at all – regardless of who saw her – as she breastfed her baby in public.

The Academy Award-nominated actress has commented about the pressures of breastfeeding and raising a newborn.

“I’m not a leave-them-in-their-crib-to-cry kind of girl. Fundamentally, I didn’t find that worked. Everyone’s got their own thing, you know? You can’t tell another person when it’s right to stop breastfeeding, or how to put your kid to sleep. Every child is different.”

Julie Bowen

Modern Family star Julie Bowen made an appearance on Lopez Tonight in 2010, where she shared a picture and talked to George Lopez about nursing her then 1-year-old twin boys, John and Gus.

“It’s like two little liposuction machines on you,” she said. “They suck the fat out of you. They call it the ‘double football hold.’ You hold one here, and here [gesturing to her breasts], like two footballs… They’re doing God’s work right there, helping me return to my birth weight.”

Julie later commented on her feelings about the pressures of breastfeeding.

“I’m a big live and let live-r,” Julie said. “Seriously [do it], if it works for you, if it’s easy. If it wasn’t easy, I wouldn’t have done it. Some people can’t do it physically…so don’t do it.”

Miranda Kerr

Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr and her estranged husband Orlando Bloom welcomed their first child in January 2011. The model mom tweeted a gorgeous photo of her and baby Flynn, then 3 months. “Another day in the office,” the new mom wrote, sharing a photo of herself in full hair and make-up at a photo shoot breastfeeding her adorable babe.

Having returned to work just a couple of months after giving birth, Miranda said her quick post-baby weight loss is thanks in part to breastfeeding.

“I think if you really eating the right foods, putting the nutrition into your body and doing yoga and breastfeeding; those things have helped me get back into shape. I remember I was on the elliptical machine when I was pregnant with Flynn.”

The Australian beauty added,

“I intend to breastfeed for as long as I can,” she said. “My breast milk will give our little Flynn the nutrition he needs for his continued healthy development and to all mums out there I am sure you will make the right choice for you and your baby.”

Just hours after giving birth to Flynn, Miranda shared a precious picture breastfeeding her newborn. In response to the photo, she said,

“The photo was one of the first photos Orlando took. We both loved it and we wanted to share it. The pleasant surprise was that it also had the added benefit of promoting breastfeeding which to me is the most natural thing in the world and I love it.”

Angelina Jolie

W magazine’s November 2008 issue celebrated art — namely Brad Pitt’s photographs of his gorgeous family. His black-and-white shot of Angelina Jolie feeding one of their then 3-month-old twins [Knox or Vivienne] with the baby’s tiny fingers graced the cover of W. The serene, natural and relaxed shot only reaffirmed Angelina’s breathtaking beauty.

Angie opened up about breastfeeding during a very emotional time of her life.

“I had lost my mum, I’d had a baby and I’d been breastfeeding and I was in a very emotional place as a woman. I knew instinctually and talked to Brad about it, that if I could find something that would get me physical again it would be like therapy, because everything was making me cry.”

Salma Hayek

On a goodwill trip to Sierra Leone in 2009, Salma Hayek famously breastfed a week-old infant whose mother was too malnourished to produce milk herself. The actress recalled the wet nurse experience.

“The baby was perfectly healthy, but the mother didn’t have milk. He was very hungry. I was weaning Valentina [then 2-years-old], but I still had a lot of milk that I was pumping, so I breast-fed the baby,” she says, her voice dropping. “You should have seen his eyes. When he felt the nourishment, he immediately stopped crying.”

Salma says she was hoping to raise awareness that Sierra Leone has the highest infant mortality rate in the world. She went on to say, “I actually think my baby would be very proud to share her milk. And when she grows up I’m going to make sure she continues to be a generous, caring person.”

Years later, Salma continues to answer questions about acting as a wet nurse.

If you have milk, you have milk, and if they’re hungry, they’re hungry,” she said. “I think it’s a beautiful thing, because motherhood is a very strong place for women to connect and understand each other.”

Keely Shaye Smith

James Bond star Pierce Brosnan and his wife, former journalist Keely Shaye Smith, famously graced the December 1997 issue of REDBOOK with their then 11-month-old son Dylan. Then a fairy revolutionary cover, editor in chief Kate White explained that the magazine produced two covers – one being “more traditional” – for the first time in its history because they didn’t want “to force the image on anyone.”

Meanwhile, some convenience-store-chain owners said that if customers complained, they reserved the right to move the cover behind the counter along with risqué men’s magazines like Playboy and Penthouse.

Lucy Lawless

Xena: Warrior Princess star Lucy Lawless shared an intimate shot with her then 3-month-old son Judah to promote World Breastfeeding Week in 2002, which featured her quote, “Breastfeeding — My best role ever.”

Mayim Bialik

Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik, who also holds a PhD in neuroscience, shared an image breastfeeding her 3-year-old son Fred on a New York City subway last year. The attachment parenting advocate wrote a thoughtful piece to accompany the intimate shot.

I have written about my now 3-year-old son Fred, and his nursing rhythms before,” Mayim wrote. “To recap: Fred nursed for a solid 12 months with no supplements, no solid foods, and not even a sip of water. He got the hang of eating solids around 18 months, but continued to nurse all day (with bottles of pumped breastmilk when I was at work), and on demand all night. A typical night involved no less than four wake-ups and sometimes six (every 2 hours on the clock for 12 hours of bed time was not unusual). This went on for almost 3 years.”

Girl Talk with Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore Adam Sandler Blended

Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler star in Blended in theaters now.

By Patty Adams Martinez

Drew Barrymore is pretty much every girl’s fantasy BFF. She’s smart, talented, and ambitious, while still being all about girl power and wanting to lift other women up rather than tearing them down. If all of that wasn’t enough, she’s also super down-to-earth and relatable, and just about the coolest mom on the planet.

The actress—whose latest movie Blended is in theaters now—and mom of two dishes to Parents about sharing screen-time with her “cinematic soul mate” Adam Sandler, surprising pregnancy side effects, and dressing her kids—Olive 19 months, and Frankie, born April 22—in hand-me-downs (just like the rest of us!). After reading this, you’re going to love her even more!

In Blended, you and Adam Sandler go on a really bad blind date, and end up together with your kids at a secluded family resort in Africa, where you can’t exactly escape running into each other. Then, of course, funniness ensues.

Yes, I love this movie. It had been about three years since I made a movie because I needed time off to create my family, but my cinematic soul mate, Adam, got me to go back to work, and I couldn’t be more proud and excited about this film. It’s fun because it’s where Adam and I are at in life now that we’re parents. It’s also really, really funny, but still pulls at your heartstrings—which I love.

Is it different being cast in mom roles, like this one, now that you’re actually a mom?

I think it means more to me now; it’s more emotional, because I know what it feels like to have daughters and to know that kind of unconditional love, which is such a powerful, powerful thing. And I like that this character isn’t perfect, because I don’t believe in perfection. But I do believe in growing and that’s why my favorite thing about being a mom is what a better person it makes you on a daily basis.

How so?

You’re putting others first. It’s not about yourself anymore—it’s about these amazing little people you want so badly to take care of, and you really learn to be patient. Even if you already thought you were, this is a whole new level of patience. You also find out how to live in the moment, and to breathe, and to never take your life or the people in it for granted.

After three movies with Adam, what have you learned about being a good parent by watching him with his daughters?

He is just such a sweet and patient dad. He’s the opposite of the macho male. He really cares about their happiness and how their school is going and how they’re getting along with other kids. He loves hanging out with them and they are his priority in life.

Ok, dish! You revealed you grew a lovely “red goatee” when you were pregnant with Olive. Did you have any surprising pregnancy side effects while you were knocked up with Frankie?

I didn’t grow leg hair for like six months! It was the oddest, raddest thing I had ever experienced in my life. I was so happy, but sadly it didn’t last.

Are there things of Olive’s you’re excited to pass down to daughter Frankie?

Yes! When I found out I was having another girl I thought, Well that’s convenient, because I already have everything I need—including Olive’s duck onesie, which I loved and so sad when she grew out of it at four months. I would say about 70 percent of Olive’s clothes I got from my sister-in-law because she has two girls. So Olive wears her cousins’ clothes, and Frankie will too!

5 Celebrity Moms With All Daughters

Thursday, March 27th, 2014

Last week we took a look at 5 celebrity moms with a brood of boys. Now we’re talking about high-profile families with all girls in the mix.

Jessica Alba:

Sin City star Jessica Alba and husband Cash Warren are parents to two daughters: Honor, 5, and Haven, 2.

“Every day with my girls is a dream and just hanging out with them is the best thing ever,” Jessica gushed to Celebrity Baby Scoop.

The eco-friendly mama added: “We do a lot of DIY crafts like using cardboard boxes to make airplanes and dollhouses—our creative playtime together similarly shows the girls about repurposing old items.”

Denise Richards:

Twisted star Denise Richards and ex-husband Charlie Sheen are parents to two girls: Sam, 10, and Lola, 8.

The actress adopted a third daughter, Eloise, as a single parent in June 2011.

“I’m definitely a hands-on mom,” Denise has said. “For me it’s about priorities, and my girls always come first. I look at it as having a harmonious house more than balancing – it’s never quite balanced!”

Demi Moore:

Ghost actress Demi Moore and ex-husband Bruce Willis are parents to three daughters: Rumer, 25, Scout, 22, and Tallulah, 20.

The Charlie’s Angels star actress admits that she constantly asks herself if she’s a good mother.

There is no job in our life that you want less to make a mistake with,” she told E! News of motherhood. “And it is inevitable. The pain of that is deeper and more enormous than anything you could grasp because you spend most of your life as a mother wanting to save them from any pain at all. So to have to look at yourself as being the cause of their pain is excruciating.”

Alyson Hannigan:

How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan and husband, actor Alexis Denisof, are parents to two daughters: Satyana, 5, and Keeva, nearly 2.

The actress recently gushed to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the joys of motherhood.

“Being a mom is simply the best thing I have ever done,” she shared. “My kids make me laugh and smile every day.”

“Satyana is very into dressing herself and everything has to be bright pink or purple,” Alyson added of her girly-girl. “If it glows or is shiny that is even better. If you need sunglasses to look at her outfit, you know that’s a good outfit. Her choices are not always the fashion choices I would make, but they always make me smile!”

As for Keeva, it sounds like she’s Sati’s biggest fan.

“Keeva really wants to be like her big sister and follows Sati around — she’s always watching her,” Alyson shared. “At this point, they really get along and love being together which is great.”

Melanie Brown:

Girl power, indeed! Spice Girls star Mel B, a.k.a. Scary Spice, is mom to four daughters: Phoenix, 15, Angel, 6, Madison, 2, and stepdaughter Giselle, 8.

“I do want a boy,” she revealed shortly after welcoming Madison. “But I’m enjoying my girls and my baby. She’s about to start crawling in Sydney and I’m like, ‘Don’t let her move until I get back!’ It would be nice to have a son, but it wouldn’t be straightaway.”

“The gap between Madison and Angel works brilliantly,” she continued. “I’ve just had them all on Skype and Phoenix is holding Madison and Angel’s playing with Phoenix’s hair. It’s beautiful.”

10 Star Moms-To-Be: Pregnant In Heels

Thursday, August 1st, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

With swollen feet, extra weight and achy body parts, it’s rare to see pregnant women wearing heels. Snooki pregnant in heels

But some of our favorite high profile moms-to-be could not give up this wardrobe staple throughout their pregnancies. From Kim Kardashian to Kate Middleton to Jessica Alba, let’s take a look at 10 pregnant celebrity moms and their fancy footwear.

Kim Kardashian

Just a month before welcoming her daughter North West, reality star Kim Kardashian stepped out for lunch with her momager Kris Jenner at Stanley’s in Sherman Oaks, Calif. on May 16. Wowing in a white dress, Kim looked lovely, yet swollen, in her heels.

Heels became quite the hot topic while Kim was expecting her first child. After tweeting, “I never thought I would ever say this… But I’m wearing flats today,” Kim was asked to elaborate.

“You know what, they actually hurt my back,” the expectant mom said. “I love high heels … Whatever makes me feel good, I want to wear. And I love wearing heels. I’m trying the flats, but we’ll see.”

Kate Middleton

One month before welcoming son GeorgeKate Middleton made an appearance in Southampton, England, on June 13 to name Princess Cruises’ latest ship, the Royal Princess.

10 Star Moms Seen Breastfeeding in Public

Thursday, July 25th, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop10 star moms who breastfed in public

Considering their lack of anonymity with paparazzi lurking at every street corner, we salute celebrity moms who breastfeed their babies while out and about!

Although it’s still considered taboo in some circles, there’s no shame in nursing your baby in public… or on the cover of a magazine for that matter! And we’re so glad that celebrity moms such as Gwen Stefani, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kourtney Kardashian and Miranda Kerr are on board. And not to mention Salma Hayek‘s experience with wet nursing a starving infant in Africa!

Take a look through our pictures and read about 10 celebrity moms who have breastfed in public.

Kourtney Kardashian

Reality star Kourtney Kardashian was seen breastfeeding her 1-year-old daughter Penelope last weekend in Miami, Florida.

After making taking a dip in the pool with her kids, Kourtney was later seen breastfeeding her 12-month-old baby girl.

Rockstar mama Gwen Stefani shared a tender moment with her youngest son, then 3-month-old Zuma, on a park bench in Los Angeles, Calif. A few months later, the mom-of-two talked about how Zuma self-weaned during No Doubt’s reunion tour.

“I didn’t want him to [quit],” Gwen said. “It felt like a total rejection. It was really hormonal, and trying to stop in the middle of tour was insane.”

Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr and her handsome hubby Orlando Bloom welcomed their first child in January 2011.

Can Women Really Have It All?

Thursday, July 18th, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoopcan women have it all?

New mom Drew Barrymore was recently asked how she does it all, and replied, “I can’t and I don’t.”

Celebrity Baby Scoop asked some of our favorite celebrity moms on the concept of having it all. Is it attainable or an illusion?

When speaking with Katie Couric at BlogHer in New York City last summer, the proud mom said, “My daughters are my best accomplishment.”

At the conference, the successful broadcast journalist went on to say that women can have it all…with the help of many people, including nannies, and so on.

Actress Lauren Holly is mom to three children – Azer, 12, George, 11, and Henry, nearly 10 – and opened up about the “constant juggling act” of motherhood and her career.

When asked if ‘having it all’ is unrealistic or attainable, the Dumb & Dumber star said, “It is both.”

She added: “For me it fluctuates between the two, honestly. Some weeks I’m doing it, some weeks I’m flailing.

Journalist and television personality Lisa Ling voiced her opinion on the dilemma, saying:

“I don’t think it is realistic at all. I think women make so many sacrifices, much more than men do. It’s okay to not have it all, it’s okay to ask for help, and it’s okay to say, ‘I need to talk to someone and I need to confide in other people about things.’ I think the idea of women having it all is nice to imagine, but I don’t think it is really possible. I think we can have a whole lot of things and we can be good at a lot of things, but we also should feel like it’s okay to ask for help when we need it. ‘

Actress Elisabeth Rohm relies on the ‘village’ approach to juggle career and motherhood.

“I think that having a strong village makes it all attainable.  A woman’s life is a juggling act, especially when you’re a mom and have a career.  So having a good circle of friends is extremely helpful, whether it’s just for emotional support or the need for a last-minute babysitter.  In addition, I don’t think you should pressure yourself all at once.  Everything has its moment.”

Actress Gena Lee Nolin is mom to four children: Spencer, 16, Caia, 11, Hudson, 6, and Stella, 4.

The former Baywatch star shared her thoughts on the illusion of ‘having it all.’

“I’ve learned how to become a balanced mom, wife and friend,” she shared. “Also, I am learning my own definition of ‘having it all.’ I can tell you this, it’s certainly not about being on the number one show in the world or being on the next magazine cover. It’s about being present in every thing I do. No matter what adversity life throws at me, my children know how important they are and that I can always be depended on.”

Tia & Tamera star Tia Mowry-Hardrict is mom to 2-year-old son Cree.

When asked if she thinks women can have it all, Tia replied, “Yes I do.”

She added: “I think that it’s all about trying to prioritize, and that’s the hardest part about finding the balance. You have to ask yourself, ‘What is my priority?’ There are certain women that have different priorities. It’s all about figuring out what your priorities are, what’s working in the household, and what’s not working in the household. It’s important to have a partner who’s very supportive of women having it all and wanting to have it all. It gets a little difficult if you don’t have people around you that support you. Thank god I have a very supportive husband who encourages me to live out my dreams, achieve my goals, and be a mother. I personally believe we can have it all, it’s about trying to find the balance and prioritizing.”

Tia’s twin sister and costar, Tamera Mowry-Housley, also shared her thoughts on ‘having it all.’

“I think women can have it all, but we have to make sacrifices along the way,” said Tamera, whom welcomed her first child, son Aden, in November 2012.

She added: “I don’t think you can have it all without making sacrifices. If you want to be a mom, wife, and businesswoman, you have to accept that you’re not going to be able to be there all the time with your son. What you can do is really make time on the weekend. There is always going to be that push for balance. Yes, you can have it all, but you’re always going to feel like you have to work on things. You’re never going to have it all in the sense that it is never going to be perfect.”

Actress and author Garcelle Beauvais shared her thoughts on the topic:

“I used to think it was attainable but now I believe we put too much pressure on ourselves. We can have different things at different times.”

Singer Amy Grant talks about understanding the need to choose vs. trying to do and have it all.

“I don’t know if I do balance it all. In my line of work, everything happens in waves. Promotion is the hardest, because it is so crazy and hectic. There is a certain rhythm to touring, songwriting, and everything else. It’s all about simplifying your schedule so you have enough time to sit around and think. When I am stressed out, I enjoy cooking and gardening. Each day this spring, I am trying to have a short amount of time I call my “retreat.” I love riding bikes and I also swim every day that I can. When you’re in water, you move around differently and you feel like a kid again. I try not to speed through life. Instead, I try to take time for myself every day. The only way that is possible is by giving some things up. Over the last five years, I’ve made a concerted effort to simplify everything.

I don’t think anyone can have it all in life, but we do have the freedom to choose. You might not be able to choose your exact life circumstances, but you have the freedom to choose your response to them. I am the most stressed out when I have too many commitments on my plate or when I feel like I don’t get to exercise any of my own choices. That is the most important time to say to yourself, ‘Just breathe. You have the freedom to choose how you react to what’s in front of you.’ This could apply to how you respond to the relationship you’re in or something you’re looking forward to. Even in the worst situation, the freedom to respond however you want is a choice for everybody.”

Champion volleyball player Gabrielle Reece is mom to three girls – step-daughter Izabella, 17, and daughters Reece, 9, Brody, 5.

When asked if women can really ‘have it all,’ the model-athlete replied, “I think you can have it all at different times, but not all at the same time.”

She added: “I always use the analogy where I’m at a party and my kid comes up to me and says, ‘They have cookies, ice cream, and cake!’ To this, I say, ‘You can either have half of two options, or one regular option. You can’t have it all.’”

“In your twenties, you might have a perfect body, a fantastic social life, a killer career, and a clean apartment, and then you go down a different path with a different partner,” Gabby continued. “Something always gives and takes and slides around. It’s about asking yourself, ‘What is the most important thing I want?’ and accepting that the other things might temporarily fall by the wayside. I tell my single friends, ‘Having a husband and kids or just a killer career won’t make a person happy. It’s whatever happiness is to you.’ Some friends just want to have a partner and a great job and that’s awesome! I also had a friend who had kids by herself. You have to define what happiness is to you.”
