Kym Whitley: “My Parenting Style Is Ever-Evolving”

Thursday, January 9th, 2014

Actress and comedienne Kym Whitley, known for her larger than life personality and hilarious roles in movies and film alike, is back with all-new episodes of her hit docu-series, Raising Whitley on OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network. The episodes premiered January 4, 2014 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.

Kym opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the upcoming episodes of Raising Whitley that she says “dive into my life as a mom.” She goes on to talk about her 3-year-old son Joshua and the “village” it takes to raise him. Continue reading about her upcoming projects and New Year’s resolution.

CBS: All-new episodes of Raising Whitley premiered on January 4th. What can fans expect to see in the upcoming episodes?

KW: They are going to see more fun, of course, as well as more motherhood. We’ve expanded the episodes from 30 minutes to an hour. Before the show played like a sitcom, because the 30 minutes were mostly all fun, and now we have the chance to really dive into my life as a mom. It’s an expansion of that.

CBS: Could you tell us about The Village in the series?

KW: The Village consists of a group of my friends that have been around for years, some of them not necessarily on a day-to-day basis. My ‘village’ and I work together, and baby Joshua is the glue that keeps us all together. I don’t think a lot of us would hang out as much as we do if there wasn’t Joshua.

All of the ‘villagers’ came in when Joshua became a part of my life. I had made a call crying out for help in raising the child and they all agreed. They all split up the responsibilities and everyone has their own certain specialty. Some of them are good at education and handle that and some are good at nutrition so they talk about that. What I like to say about The Village is that they are all the parent. Instead of just trying to do everything myself, they are the other parent that helps.

CBS: Why do you think viewers are so drawn to your hit docu-series?

KW: I believe that it is a good escape. It is a docu-series that is fun and funny, and you can learn something. If I can get you to laugh and you walk away learning something, then I’ve done my job. I believe that people just want to laugh and have a good time. I am a different kind of celebrity; I don’t have the big, giant house, the fancy cars, and all the designer stuff. I am just a girl from Cleveland. I believe in letting people see the real. For example, I have a microwave in my house that has a turn dial [laughs].

CBS: The upcoming episodes will also give viewers an inside look at your quest to raise awareness of childhood allergies. Could you tell us about your “Don’t Feed Me” allergy awareness T-Shirts and care packs?

KW: Absolutely. I didn’t know that my son had allergies until he spit up eggs one day and one day he had a little peanut butter and his face swelled up. I took him to get tested and found out that he is allergic to everything. I had to figure out a way to make sure my son was always safe while he was in the care of others like the ‘villagers.’

I made a T-shirt that features the child’s name and checks off all of the allergies he or she may have, and you can also write them in. That gave me peace of mind when I sent my son to baby daycare or when he went out with friends to a birthday party. I also made a medicine bag where you can check off the child’s name and check off what he is allergic to, so that the caretaker always knows what he is allergic to and has the necessary medicine.

CBS: How old is Joshua now? What is he like personality-wise?

KW: Joshua is such a joy! He will be 3 years old this month. Ever since he was born, he has been a very special soul. He is extremely smart and knows every little thing. He catches on to everything! He also loves music – he plays the drums and the piano and he’s only three. He loves music and is an amazing little boy.

CBS: What are the greatest rewards of being a mother? Are there any major challenges?

KW: One of the rewards is the discovery. My life is different now and I have a different path of discovery. I would have never had that if I hadn’t become a mother. It has made me look at life differently. The reward is that instead of a barometer, I now have a meter of what is important in life, because I put him first before I make a decision.

There are definitely challenges. For example, trying to work creates challenges and you wonder about a lot of things. Where does he go to school when you’ve never been a parent? I probably wouldn’t get him into kindergarten until he is nine if I didn’t have the help, because I have no idea [laughs].

I am actually working on a book right now, because I thought to myself, ‘If I am a mother and I don’t know what is going on, I am going to write a funny book to help moms. It makes no sense. Do you put them in daycare then preschool, then do they go to kindergarten?’ Those are some of the challenges I highlight in the book.

I am working on the book as we speak. It is a funny take on motherhood. I think I have a different perspective than a lot of mothers. I am open and honest, and sometimes things are ridiculous. I want the book to be where the readers can see themselves and not be so serious about it. I wanted to do a funny take on that and show mothers how to get that fifteen minute nap. For example, inviting your girlfriends over and telling them you have a new recipe you want to show them, then you lock the door of your bedroom and go to sleep [laughs].

CBS: What kind of mom are you? What is your parenting style?

KW: My parenting style is probably like that of my parents, because you do how you learn. My mother was very nurturing and loving, but very stern. She was a disciplinary. My dad was also very loving. I would say that I am funny and I give a lot of ‘time-outs,’ but they work.

My parenting style is ever-evolving, and the first thing I learned is patience. The biggest lesson I have also learned is that a child needs a nap. When you think your child has lost his or her mind, and there is nothing that Superman or anyone can do, you just stop and think, ‘Oh! He needs a nap!’ Hands down, it works every time.

CBS: Do you think that women can really “have it all?” Why or why not?

KW: We work very hard and the biggest job is being a mother, then you put a career and being a wife on top of that. It’s almost impossible. You only have 24 hours in a day and you have to sleep, eat, and some of us have to work. I believe that women must know that they need to pace themselves and ask for help, then they can have it all.

CBS: With the New Year here, do you have any special resolutions?

KW: This year when I meet women on the street, I want to be forward with compliments and encouragement. Sometimes women ultimately judge and look down on one another and will say something, but we very seldom say something nice to a stranger. ‘Beautiful dress! Love your hair!’ That is what I want to do this year.

CBS: What else is up next for you?

KW: I have a show that just got picked up on ABC Family called Young & Hungry. It is a very funny show about a chef named Gabi who tries to find a job with a young, hot millionaire. I play his maid. I also have a movie with Marlon Wayans called A Haunted House 2 that is also coming out. My cartoon Black Dynamite is also coming back for a second season, and I also did a family movie on the Hallmark Channel called Anything Is Possible, which is about a boy who starts playing the piano at three years old and now he is eleven. It’s an incredible film!

11 Most Shocking Celebrity Headlines of 2013

Thursday, January 2nd, 2014

It’s been another year of shocking headlines on Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Some stories have surprised us more than others: from tragic deaths of some of Hollywood’s youngest stars like Cory Monteith and Paul Walker; to shocking splits such as Malin Akerman and Roberto Zincone, as well as Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom; to exciting pregnancy news from the over 40 club: Halle Berry and Gwen Stefani.

Let’s look through 11 of the most shocking headlines of 2013.

Dean McDermott Allegedly Cheats on Tori Spelling:

While Hollywood is known for its cheating scandals, we were recently shocked to hear the news from Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott.

The day after Christmas, US Weekly reported that Dean cheated on Tori with 28-year-old Emily Goodhand. ”He told me he and Tori had a sexless marriage,” says Goodhand, who stayed over at his hotel the following night too. “I believed him.”

According to Us, Goodhand claims she met McDermott while he was promoting Chopped Canada in Toronto on December 6. Goodhand goes on to tell the mag they had an affair in his room that same night at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.

Married since May 2006, Tori and Dean are parents to four kids: Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 1. In July 2005, Tori and Dean began filming the Lifetime TV movie Mind Over Murder in Ottawa. The two began an affair the night they first met, despite both being married.

Malin Akerman & Roberto Zincone Split Months After Welcoming Son:

Trophy Wife star Malin Akerman and her husband, Italian musician Roberto Zincone, are headed for divorce just months after welcoming their first-born son.

After six years of marriage, Zincone filed for divorce on December 2.

Just weeks prior to their divorce news, the CBGB actress opened up about the “huge shift” of motherhood.

“It’s amazing having my first child,” she shared. “I think any woman will say it’s the biggest joy of her life. It makes it OK to wake up at 5:30 in the morning when you see that little face smiling back at you! He’s becoming more and more of a little person with a personality. You’ve made a person. It’s a huge shift from living an active, spontaneous lifestyle.”

Miranda Kerr & Orlando Bloom Split After 3 Years of Marriage:

Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando Bloom and his wife, former Victoria’s Secret model Miranda Kerr, decided to call it quits after just three years of marriage.

The parents to nearly 3-year-old son Flynn announced in October:

“In a joint statement, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr have announced that they have been amicably separated for the past few months. After six years together, they have recently decided to formalize their separation. Despite this being the end of their marriage, they love, support and respect each other as both parents of their son and as family.”

Regarding the sudden split, Orlando said: “We love each other, we’re a family.”

“We’re going to be in each other’s lives for the rest of our lives,” he added. “There’s no question for the sake of our son and everything else, we’re going to support one another and love each other as parents to Flynn.”

The handsome couple were together for three years before tying the knot in 2010.

“And you know,” the actor added, “life doesn’t always works out exactly as we plan or hope for but fortunately we’re both… we’re adults. We love and care about each other and we, most of all, love our son.”

Denise Richards Accused of Abusing Bob & Max:

Until recently, Denise Richards was caring for her ex-husband Charlie Sheen‘s 4-year-old sons Max and Bob while their mother, Brooke Mueller, was in rehab. But Denise was forced to give up custody of the boys after struggling to cope with their behavior following visits with their troubled mother.

And now, Denise – mom to daughters Sam, 9, Lola, 8, and Eloise, 2 –  is facing allegations of child abuse. Brooke made the call to the authorities in recent weeks claiming that Denise abused Max and Bob.

“It has been alleged that Denise not only physically abused the children, but neglected them as well,” a source close to the situation said. “This is being taken very seriously by Denise. To say she is upset and disgusted by Brooke’s actions are an understatement.”

The source added: “Social workers might want to interview Denise’s daughters and Denise will fight that. Her daughters don’t need to be dragged into this drama. They are children who are very well cared for and loved.”

“Denise now knows definitively that she made the best decision for her family by giving up being the temporary guardian for Bob and Max,” the insider continued. “The chaos and never-ending drama that follows their lives — because of their mother — just made it impossible for Denise’s own family to exist like a normal one.”

Michelle Duggar Says She’s “Trying” For a 20th Child:

19 Kids and Counting star Michelle Duggar created quite a stir when she opened up to Celebrity Baby Scoop in October, admitting that she and husband Jim Bob are “trying” to conceive a twentieth child.

“I would hope, but we are not expecting right now,” Michelle, 47, said when asked if she was currently expecting.

“I would be so grateful if the Lord blessed us with another one,” she added. “We’re trying at this point and we shall see if that is a possibility. If not, we are so thankful and grateful for the ones that God has given us so far. We are also definitely enjoying our grandbabies! They are so precious!”

Gwen Stefani, 44, Pregnant with Third Child:

At age 44, No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani and husband, fellow rocker Gavin Rossdale, expect their third child next year. They are also parents to sons Kingston, 7, and Zuma, 5.

Although she remains mum on her pregnancy news, A-list pals Rachel Zoe and Eve have confirmed Gwen’s happy news.

In 2010, the pop superstar opened up about the possibility of having a daughter.

“Having children is the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” Gwen said. “No one could have prepared me for how awesome it is and how hard. And having two boys – there’s a lot of energy. I mean, it does seem weird that I don’t have a girl, but I feel like I’m running out of time. I also don’t want to spread myself so thin that I can’t even be good for them… Poor Zuma, he’d be the middle guy. I’m not focusing on it right now, but it’s not up to me anyway, you know? These things are miracles, so we’ll see. Otherwise, the clothes are probably going to go to some girlfriend of Kingston’s!”

Halle Berry, 47, Pregnant with Second Child:

At age 47, Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry and her husband Olivier Martinez, 47, welcomed a son named Maceo-Robert on October 5.

In April, Halle announced the pregnancy saying it was “the biggest surprise of [her] life.”

“Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me,” she said at the time. “So it’s been a big surprise and the most wonderful.” She went on to say the pregnancy was a “miracle.”

“I feel really happy. It’s one of the best things that happened in my life, for sure,” she added.

The pair were wed in an intimate ceremony in France this past summer, on July 13.

Halle also has a 5-year-old daughter Nahla with ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

Jack Osbourne’s Wife Lisa Suffers Second Trimester Miscarriage:

Dancing with the Stars contestant Jack Osbourne and wife Lisa tragically lost their baby earlier this year.

The blogger, 26, who was in her second trimester, shared the sad news on her blog. “I have been dreading this announcement,” she wrote. “I needed some time before being able to say it. Jack and I lost our baby boy last week.”

“Having a late term miscarriage is by far the hardest thing either of us have ever had to go through,” she continued. “We appreciate all of your prayers and ask for privacy and respect during this time. It’s important to stay hopeful and optimistic through life’s toughest moments. We never know why things like this happen. All we can do is trust in God and know he has a plan for our lives.”

In early August, Lisa announced their pregnancy news. “Jack and I are super excited to share with you all that we are expecting our second baby!” she shared. “I am in my second trimester, feeling great & trying not to eat everything in sight.”

The couple were wed last October and are parents to daughter Pearl, now 20 months.

Cory Monteith Dies at 31:

The world was shocked by the death of Cory Monteith, the 31-year-old star of Glee who was found dead in his Vancouver hotel room on July 13. Reports found that he died from a fatal mix of heroin and alcohol.

In a 2011 interview with Parade, Cory discussed his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, revealing that by age 13, he was skipping school to get drunk and smoke marijuana. By the time he was 16, his drug use was “out of control.”

“Anything and everything, as much as possible,” he admitted. “I had a serious problem.”

James Gandolfini Dies at 51:

Known for his famous role on The SopranosJames Gandolfini died in Italy on June 19 after suffering from a heart attack.

The actor left behind his wife Deborah, son Michael – who reportedly found the actor still alive in his Rome hotel room – and infant daughter Liliana, then 9 months.

Paul Walker Dies at 40:

Actor Paul Walker died in a fatal car crash on November 30. The Fast and Furious star, 40, left behind a 15-year-old daughter Meadow Rose.

“I just shut up, sit back and stay quiet,” he said in 2011, about driving his daughter to school. “She opens up and reveals a whole lot. The trick is to not ask questions, just listen. I’m figuring it out.”

Walker and friend Roger Rodas both died in a Porsche Carrera GT after attending a charitable event. Sources say that Meadow was on hand to support her dad at his Reach Out Worldwide charity car show in Santa Clarita, Calif. just minutes prior to the deadly crash.

Walker dated Meadow’s mother, Rebecca McBrain, when he was in his mid-20s.

“It was tough,” he recently said of not being ready for marriage at the time. “I was one of those ones who believed when you get married it’s forever. But I was thinking down the road. I knew where I was at with chicks and having fun … I was an animal.”

Meadow spent her early years living in Hawaii with her mom, but Walker and his ex shared custody and Meadow. When she was 7, the proud papa taught his girl how to surf. “Every day I pick her up from school and we go out on a longboard,” he said in 2006. “She really loves it.”

Celebrities Share Their Holiday Traditions

Thursday, December 19th, 2013

Happy Holidays from Celebrity Baby Scoop!

In the spirit of the season, we’re taking a look at some of our favorite celebrity families and their festive traditions.

From Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen‘s peaceful co-parenting over the holidays, to Tori Spelling‘s activities with her big brood, to Kim Kardashian‘s annual Christmas card, let’s read how the celebs plan to get jolly with their families.

Josh Duhamel & Fergie:

New parents Josh Duhamel and Fergie are set to celebrate their son Axl‘s first Christmas this holiday season.

“Our Christmas plans are pretty simple this year. I like it that way. We’re home, just family around here,” Josh said. “My mother’s out here right now. My sister’s coming out next week. Other than that we’re just going to stick around here.”

The Safe Haven star can barely wait to start some festive traditions with his son. “I can’t wait for him to tear through gifts. It won’t be this year.”

Matt Damon:

Academy Award-winning actor Matt Damon and wife Luciana are parents to daughters Alexia, 15, Isabella, 7, and Gia, 5, and Stella, 3.

The Bourne Identity star opened up about enjoying the Christmas season with his family-of-six.

“We do the Latin American Christmas Eve gift opening and we do the American Christmas morning gift opening,” the actor said about his blended family traditions.

He added: “We have this weird fusion for Christmas, but I think it just means more gifts for the kids, so they’re into it.”

Jennifer Lopez:

Mom-of-two Jennifer Lopez says her 5-year-old twins Max and Emme are “so excited” about the upcoming holiday season.

And it sounds like the singer-actress enjoys the festive season with a Christmas tree, lots of decorations and writing wish-lists with her kids.

“We’re putting up our tree later today,” Jennifer told E! News in early December. “They see all the stuff going up around the house, all the little decorations, and they’re like, ‘Oh my god! I need to make my list!’ They get all excited. We’re looking forward to a nice relaxing holiday.”

Denise Richards & Charlie Sheen:

Actress Denise Richards and ex-husband Charlie Sheen keep it friendly year-round, not just over the holidays, with their two daughters Sam, 9, and Lola, 8.

“I spend my holidays with family and friends,” Denise said. “The more the merrier… I do see Charlie over the holidays — he’s my family.” She added: “I think it’s best to stay friendly whether it’s the holidays or not. Keep it about the kids and keep the peace.”

The Twisted actress went on to share some of their favorite family traditions.

“[We spend] Christmas morning opening presents with the kids,” Denise said. “[We decorate] the home, the tree, we do an annual holiday party for the kids. At the party every guest brings an unwrapped toy that we donate to children. We bring the snow to us. At our holiday party, we have snow made.”

Denise said the homemade gifts from her girls are “the best” and “the kids make the holidays.” She added, “Every year has wonderful memories.”

“The kids and I track Santa online to see where he is and when he will be at our house,” Denise said, and added that her girls still believe in St. Nick. “They’ve heard otherwise, but I’ve reassured them he exists. We set out cookies and milk and carrots for the reindeer.” She added, “I make the chocolate no-bake cookies my mom always made.”

Kim Kardashian & family:

Reality star Kim Kardashian and her famous family pose for a posh Christmas card every year. This year, the Kardashian-Jenner crew got glam in a carnival-like room of sorts filled with dollar bills, a sparkling gold money sign, mannequins and photos of the family members.

Last year, the high-profile crew dressed in white for the 2012 Christmas card, they went metallic chic for the 2011 Christmas card, and they posed closely together for the 2010 Christmas card.

“Every Christmas, we’re always together. Step-brothers, sisters, everything. All 10 kids, and then everyone’s girlfriend, boyfriend, this, that,” Kim’s sister Khloe Kardashian said of the family tradition. “The older we get, the more we stick together. . . [And now] the babies are getting older and loving the holidays more and more. It’s really fun.”

Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott:

Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood stars Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott are sure to have a very Merry Christmas with their four children – Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and Finn, 1 – at their home in Los Angeles.

“Definitely a lot of baking,” Tori said of their holiday traditions. “My mom’s a great baker. We always baked a lot growing up. So that’s something I love doing with my kids. And decorating the tree is a big thing.”

Holly Robinson Peete & Rodney Peete:

Actress Holly Robinson Peete and husband, former NFL star Rodney Peete, enjoy the season with their  four children: 16-year-old twins RJ and Ryan, and sons Robinson, 11, and Roman, 8.

“My kids are so excited about Christmas,” Holly shared. “My youngest still believes in Santa though his older sibs tease him. He believes firmly that the belief in the man at the North Pole is directly correlated to the amount of gifts he gets so he is not jumping ship yet!”

The mom-of-four went on to say they also celebrate Kwanzaa during the holiday season.

“We celebrate Kwanzaa and in those 7 days the kids learn more about their culture and ancestral history than they do all year at school,” Holly said.

Jodie Sweetin:

Although she recently split from her second husband Morty Coyle, Full House alum Jodie Sweetin is set to carry on family traditions this holiday season with daughters Zoie, 5, and Beatrix, 3.

“We do Christmas, Hanukkah, New Years — all sorts of celebrations,” Jodie said.

Melissa Joan Hart:

Actress Melissa Joan Hart and her husband of 10 years, Mark Wilkerson, enjoy winter traditions with their three sons - Mason, 7½, Brady, 5½, and Tucker, 1 – over the holiday season.

“We love to be in the mountains sledding, skating and sipping hot cocoa by the fire,” MJH shared.

Tiffani Thiessen:

Saved by the Bell alum Tiffani Thiessen and husband Brady Smith love the holiday season with their 3-year-old daughter Harper.

“It’s like reliving it when I was a kid,” said Tiffani of enjoying the Christmas spirit with her daughter.

“We started the Elf on the Shelf this year and Santa’s a big deal,” she added. “It’s neat. It reminds me of what I remember what Christmas was like when I was a kid.”

Leeza Gibbons:

Hollywood Confidential host, Leeza Gibbons, has a fun family tradition that she celebrates with her three kids: JordanTroy and Nathan.

“For Christmas, we always do a family pajama photo that is our holiday card,” Leeza said. “Through the years (19 so far) we have worn ducky PJs, cowboys, kissy lips, plaids, paisleys and more! It’s always fun, and kind of embarrassing.”

Celebrity Parents Share Holiday Plans

Thursday, December 12th, 2013

This post was written by our friends at CelebrityBabyScoop.

Happy Holidays from Celebrity Baby Scoop!

In celebration of the festive season, we asked some of our favorite high-profile parents to share their holiday plans.

From Alyson Hannigan‘s Christmas at home, to Tori Spelling who loves to cook and bake with her brood, to Candace Cameron Bure‘s charitable traditions, let’s hear how some celebrity families will celebrate the holidays.

Alyson Hannigan & Alexis Denisof:

How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan and her husband, fellow actor Alexis Denisof, are set to celebrate the season at their Brentwood, Calif. home with daughters Satyana, 4, and Keeva, 19 months.

“We will be at home for Christmas this year,” the Buffy alum, 39, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “I think the girls are worried that if we went somewhere else Santa might not be able to find us.”

“The holidays are a very magical time of year and I look forward to starting traditions we will keep up every year,” Alyson adds. “This year I am thankful for being a mom to the best two girls on the planet, and for having a great husband. We just celebrated our 10th anniversary.”

Melissa Reeves:

Days of our Lives star Melissa Reeves and husband, fellow soap star Scott Reeves, enjoy family time with their two children - Emily, 21, and Larry, 16 – during the holiday season.

“My daughter and I look for any excuse to decorate like crazy,” the longtime soap star, 46, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

She adds: “We are too crafty! But family time is always my favorite part and celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.”

Wally Kurth:

Days of our Lives star Wally Kurth plans to spend Christmas in Montana with his three kids – Meghann, 27, Rosie, 17 and Brogan, 8.

“This holiday we are all going to be in Montana to celebrate with my family,” the longtime soap star, 55, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

He adds: “Other years, we go to Pittsburgh and celebrate with my wife’s family. We will be up in the mountains at a ski resort, so I’m really looking forward to that.”

Galen Gering:

Days of our Lives star Galen Gering and wife Jenna will get festive with their two sons – Dillon, 7, and Jensen, 5 – with some special holiday traditions.

“As far as traditions go, my boys and I always build a train around our Christmas tree and through a Christmas village that we set up every year,” the soap star, 42, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

He adds: “We also do Elf on the Shelf, who visits every year starting 12 days before Christmas. Elf gets into a lot of mischief, but he only comes out at night. The kids wake up to find what sort of trouble Elf has gotten into.”

Kristian Alfonso:

Days of our Lives star Kristian Alfonso and husband Danny Daggenhurst plan to celebrate the holidays with their three boys – GinoJack, and Spartan.

“Any time spent with my family is special because we’re all so busy,” the longtime soap star, 50, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

She adds: “So to have all my boys come together and my whole family in once place is so special. It’s what we all work so hard for.”

Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott:

Reality stars Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott love celebrating the Christmas season with their four kids – Liam, 6, Stella, 5, Hattie, 2, and 1-year-old Finn.

“We celebrate the holidays and every holiday. To us, it’s not about the actual holiday, it’s about a celebration with the family,” Tori tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “That’s what is important to us.”

“We love winter, Christmas, and Hanukkah, and we celebrate it all,” Tori adds. “We cook big meals and we bake a lot. We also make our own ornaments for Christmas each year. So every year we have our ornaments from the year before, and then we add on new ones. My goal is that when my kids are adults, they will each have their own box of all the ornaments they made throughout their childhood.”

Thea Andrews:

Omg! Insider’s Thea Andrews is a “fanatic” when it comes to celebrating the festive season with her two sons, Jack, 5, and Tuck, 2.

“I am a Christmas fanatic,” Thea tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

She adds: “I go crazy. Decor, big meals, Christmas crackers, presents, Santa, caroling – anything you associate with Christmas, I’m all about it. It was my favorite holiday growing up because my parents – especially my mom – always made it so special for us. Now I want to do the same for my kids.”

Bill & Giuliana Rancic:

Reality stars Bill and Giuliana Rancic are big believers in Santa Claus — and they plan to celebrate the spirit of Saint Nick with their 1-year-old son Duke.

“Of course [Duke] is going to meet Santa,” Bill tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “That’s big in our house. He got a glimpse of him last year when he was very young, and he will definitely be ready for Santa this year.”

Megyn Price:

A Country Christmas Story actress Megyn Price and her husband are celebrating the festive season “super old-school” with their 6-year-old daughter Grace.

“We are all so excited, it’s crazy,” she tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

The actress adds: “My husband is an ER doctor and we’ve had to celebrate Christmas on different days every year except for this year, because he usually had to work on Christmas or Thanksgiving. This is the first year that we actually get to have both Thanksgiving and Christmas together as a family.”

“We are doing everything super old-school this year, such as the popcorn and cranberries on the Christmas tree, reading The Night Before Christmas, and leaving cookies out for Santa,” the Rules of Engagement star, 42, continues. “Last year, my daughter also read about blintzes in a book and said, ‘That sounds almost exactly like the reindeer Blitzen, so he must love blintzes!’ We all made homemade ricotta cheese blintzes for Blitzen last year. That was one of my favorite things that my daughter did, and we will continue that crazy tradition this year [laughs].”

Sherri Shepherd:

The View co-host Sherri Shepherd, her husband, and 6-year-old son Jeffrey are opening up their home for the holidays.

“We are going to get together and have my mother-in-law over — oh joy!” she jokes to Celebrity Baby Scoop. “My husband came up to me and said, ‘My mother wants to visit us for the month of December. Isn’t that great?!’ I was like, ‘Yeah, why don’t I go slash my wrist?’ [laughs].”

“We like to take crazy pictures with our dogs,” she adds. “We have a rescue Labrador and a purebred County Cane. We all like to get dressed up in our favorite sports jerseys and take a family picture, including the dogs. Our Cane Corso is a Boston Celtics fan and our Labrador is straight Kobe. For Christmas, we also have Santa hats and beards for the dogs.”

Candace Cameron Bure:

Full House alum Candace Cameron Bure and husband, former hockey star Valeri Bure, are staying home with their three kids – Natasha, 15, Lev, 13, and Maks, 11 – this Christmas.

“We are staying in town for Christmas since my whole family lives in California,” Candace tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

“Our Christmas tradition includes waking up early Christmas morning and going to a small homeless shelter, bringing and cooking breakfast for the 40 people staying there, and sitting down to eat with them,” the actress adds. “It’s more than just cooking and serving food, it’s about relationship, listening to their journey, encouraging them and giving them hope. Starting our Christmas day off by giving back to others just feels right for our family.”

She adds: “After that, we head home and open our family gifts, then head to my brother Kirk [Cameron]‘s house. He hosts the entire family for Christmas dinner – about 50 of us! We exchange goofy gifts and sing Christmas carols all night long.”

Kathie Lee Gifford:

Talk show queen Kathie Lee Gifford and husband, former football star Frank Gifford, love spending the Christmas season with their two children: Cody, 23, and Cassidy, 20.

“Since the kids were little we’ve spent Christmas at our home in the Florida Keys, one of the most relaxing places in the world,” Kathie Lee tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “We do as little as possible and wear as little as possible for as long as we possibly can.”

Ali Landry:

Actress Ali Landry and her husband Alejandro Monteverde are traveling to Louisiana with their three kids – Estela, 6, Marcelo, 2, and Valentin, 5 months – to celebrate the festive season.

“My family is from Louisiana and my husband’s family is from Mexico, so we take turns each year,” Ali tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

She adds: “This year, we will travel to Louisiana for a few weeks and we plan on doing a few road trips while we’re there. We’ll also fly to New Orleans to take in all the culture so my children could start learning about their French heritage.”

Bethenny Frankel:

The Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel loves to get festive with her 3-year-old daughter Bryn.

“I plan on just spending time with my family,” the talk show host tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

She adds: “We might go on vacation somewhere. Because there won’t be school, we will have more free time to do anything we want, from going to the zoo to going ice skating.”

“In regard to traditions, we do the regular traditions like baking holiday cookies, picking out the Christmas tree, and going to see Santa,” Bethenny shares.

Holly Madison:

New mom Holly Madison and her husband Pasquale Rotella are excited to celebrate their daughter Rainbow‘s first Christmas.

“I usually am a Christmas decor fanatic, but we are doing a messy remodel on out house right now so I think I’m going to skip that this year and just focus on doing something fun with Rainbow Christmas morning,” the former Playboy model tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Nick Lachey:

Singer Nick Lachey and wife Vanessa Lachey ”love spending the holidays with family,” which includes their 1-year-old son Camden.

“We love spending the holidays with family, so I think we will be back in Ohio with my brother, my sister-in-law, and his kids,” Nick tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

He adds: “Both of my parents are there, so there will also be grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Spending those moments and the holidays with your family is most important thing.”

As for taking Camden to visit Santa Clause, Nick replies, “That is a good question! I feel like I have to bring him to visit Santa. Even if he is screaming and crying, you have to get that picture. He might be a little too young and I don’t think he grasps what Santa is, but we might have to get him there anyway just to expose him to it.”

Bruce Boxleitner:

Cedar Cove star Bruce Boxleitner – dad to three grown sons SamLee and Michael – is set to celebrate the holiday season in Illinois with his parents.

“I am going back home to Illinois to visit my mother and father because I haven’t seen them for the last couple of Christmases,” the actor shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

He adds: “Some of my kids are all out here, so we will get together before that. I am going to fly back though, because my mother’s health has been an issue and I want to be there. I wish we could all get together, but we all kind of spread it out a little bit. Everyone is off doing their own lives, but we get together to exchange presents. We are thankful that we have each other.”

Drew Lachey:

Boy bander Drew Lachey and wife Lea are getting ready to celebrate Christmas with “lots of traditions” with their two kids – Isabella, 7, and Hudson, 3 – and his brother Nick Lachey and his family.

“We have lots of traditions,” the 98 Degrees star shares with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

“Luckily for us, now that we’re back in Cincinnati, most of our family is here,” Drew adds. “As opposed to having to fly across country to spend the holidays with our family, we can literally just drive down the road now, which makes it a little bit easier.”

He continues: “We’re foodies, so we definitely stuff our faces for three days straight during the holidays. We have Thanksgiving, and then we have leftovers, and then we have leftovers of the leftovers. It’s a big deal for us, and the Christmas holiday is huge too. Ultimately, it just comes down to spending time with family. My wife has a huge family, so it’s always a fun time.”

When asked if there be any visits to Santa this year, Drew replies: ”Yes. We went to the Cincinnati Zoo and Santa was there. We saw him and my kids were in shock that Santa showed up at the zoo and that mommy and daddy knew him. We go way back, Santa and us. We have good kids and Santa usually spoils them pretty good come Christmastime. “

Nick Lachey: Camden Has Given Me Great Perspective And Patience

Wednesday, December 4th, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Multi-platinum recording artist and TV personality Nick Lachey is gearing up for the fourth season of NBC’s The Sing-Off, which premieres December 9th at 9:00pm ET/PT. The crooner and father-of-one, to son Camden, 1, is also currently enjoying a “great response” to his latest album, A Father’s Lullaby.

Nick opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about what it is like to host The Sing-Off, why A Father’s Lullaby “was a really appropriate project” for his fan-base, and how it is a “very sweet, tender, and personal moment” when he puts Camden down to sleep. He also reveals that he is working on another album!

CBS: Are you excited about the new season of The Sing-Off?  How has the show changed or evolved in your opinion?

NL: “I am very excited about it! I am ecstatic that it’s coming back. We’ve already taped all of the episodes, so I can say 100% honestly that it is a great season with a great line-up and fantastic groups. It’s such a fun show, especially around the holidays. It is an awesome show to be a part of, because I am such big fan of a cappella music myself and I know there are so many others out there who love a cappella music. It’s a really energizing show. It’s a great atmosphere, as you’re around so many people who love what they do and love singing.

In regard to how the show has evolved, I think the talent of the groups has gotten better each and every season. I think that it is, in part, attributed to the success of the show; other a cappella groups out there are seeing the show and the success of groups like Pentatonix, who are touring Europe right now and have gone on to do big things. When the show is done well, I think it becomes easier for producers to find great talent out there. I think the evolution of the talent is the biggest thing. Also, we have our first-ever country group in the show this next season, so I think the style of a cappella has evolved a little as well, which is exciting. It’s gotten bigger and better every season, and season four is no exception.”

CBS: Are you good at predicting who will be successful and who will not? What are some of the indicators?

NL: “I am pretty hit or miss. [laughs] In the second season, I picked a group that was eliminated in the first episode. I was not good in that season, but I did pick Pentatonix in season three and I also successfully picked the season four winners as well. I can’t say who they are right now, but I guess I am two for three. [laughs]

The indicators are groups that have a great sound and chemistry right out of the gate. Really, the point of the show is to help these groups evolve. It is hard to tell sometimes, because a group that you think doesn’t have great chemistry could really discover that chemistry as they go through the process of the show. It’s kind of tough to tell, but you can get a feel of the groups that have an unmistakable chemistry and blend. When you find that and hone into it, it’s tough to beat. I always look to the groups who seem like they have multiple voices singing as one voice. If you can hear that and find that, then that is really what a cappella is all about.”

CBS: How has your lullaby album, A Father’s Lullaby, been received?  What has the feedback been?

NL: “A Father’s Lullaby has been really well received, most importantly by Camden himself. I made the CD as a tribute to him and it’s been a special project that him and I share together. He liked it, which is the most important thing. It’s also been really well received by my fans who grew up with me and are now at the age where they’re starting to have families of their own. It seemed like a really appropriate project for my fan base and I’ve gotten great feedback. For example, people are tweeting pictures of their babies sleeping to the album, which is always fun to see. There has been a great response from the fans.”

CBS: It’s a great holiday gift for new dads!  Please share with all the dads (and moms shopping for dad) out there how this will help them bond with their little bundle of joy.

NL: “I found out last year that for any new parent, one of the most important parts of the day is when your baby is sleeping. [laughs] Aside from being able to get stuff done and get some peace of mind, sleep is such an important part of the baby’s development early on. So the album is my contribution to helping babies fall asleep. Lullabies have been around for forever and have always been a special part of bonding with your baby as they fall asleep. On my album, there are classic lullabies that people will recognize, which have been sung for generations and generations. There are also new, original lullabies that I wrote for Camden. The CD features a mixture of both, but all in the lullaby-arena.  The songs are designed to help babies go to sleep, so that parents can have a little break.”

CBS: When we last spoke, you mentioned that you sing to Camden.  Do you still sing to him?  Does he sing with you now?

NL: “Every day! I literally just put him down for a nap about an hour ago. I sing ‘Sleepy Eyes’ to him every day before he naps and before he sleeps at night. That is one of the songs I wrote for him on the album, and it has become our ‘go-to-bed’ song. When he hears me start singing that one, he knows it’s time to shut it down. That is our special little moment together.

In regard to how he responds to my singing, he likes to kiss me in the middle of it. It is as sweet as can be, but I can’t help but to laugh. [laughs] He will reach out and give me a kiss. He used to just grab my face when I’d sing to him. He doesn’t sing with me yet, but one day we will do a little duet. It’s a very sweet, tender, and personal moment when you’re with your baby and putting him down. I get a kick out of it every time, and it is a very special moment that I look forward to for sure.”

CBS: Has fatherhood changed you?  Have you learned anything about yourself?

NL: Fatherhood has changed me in every way; for every decision and situation I encounter in my life, I now have to consider and I want to consider my child. Your child really becomes the most important thing in your world and in your life. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. Every time I am away I am dying to get home. It’s the one thing that motivates and drives everything else in your life. It’s amazing to watch your child learn, as something new happens every day and your child evolves and changes. It’s hard to put into words how much fatherhood really affects everything.

I’ve learned a great amount of patience. I think you do have a lot of patience. For example, my kid can be trying something and he has his own process. As adults, we sometimes expect our children to go with our flow, but it doesn’t always work that way. You have to have patience with everything. You also find yourself having a lot of fun doing stuff that would normally drive you nuts. When it’s your child, you have fun with it and it’s an experience. You cherish every second of it. Camden has given me great perspective and patience, and he certainly taught me another dimension of love that I’ve never experienced before. I’ve learned quite a bit.”

CBS: Any plans for baby number 2?

NL: “We definitely want another baby, at least one more child. There is no immediate plan for it, as it’s kind of one of those things that can pop up at any time. All I can say is that we definitely do want more kids. We love being parents and want a family of more than one child. We will see where that goes, but right now we are just enjoying Camden and everything that comes along with him. I don’t want to rob him of any of our attention by bringing another one in too quick.”

CBS: How do you and Vanessa find time for each other amongst busy careers and diaper changes?

NL: “I think you just have to plan it. It’s one of those things where if you are not careful, your whole life can be consumed by having a child. There is something important about remembering what got you there, remembering your relationship and focusing on it. We make it a point to have at least one night a week to go out to dinner, to a movie, or to a concert to bring it back to our relationship. It’s important to have good babysitters around who can help relieve you when you need a little break.”

CBS: What’s up next for you?

NL: “Right now, I am just getting ready for The Sing-Off and the lullaby album. I am also working on another album called The Soundtrack To My Life, which is comprised of songs that are based on movies that I grew up with. They are soundtrack songs that were benchmarks in my life. I am in the middle of finishing that up. Next year, who knows? I am not sure if 98 Degrees will do another run next summer, and maybe I will do solo music or host a TV show. One of the great things about my career is that it evolves and there are a lot of different aspects to it. I am not really sure where the journey is going to take me.”

Happy Thanksgiving: Celebrity Parents Share Gratitude

Monday, November 25th, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop

To celebrate the festive season, we asked some of our favorite celebrity parents what they are grateful for.

From Holly Madison’s first Thanksgiving with daughter Rainbow and her new husband, to Bethenny Frankel‘s gratitude to her daughter Bryn, to Nick Lachey‘s happy family life, let’s hear how some high-profile parents are counting their blessings this Thanksgiving.

Holly Madison:

New mom Holly Madison has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.

In September, the former Playboy model married Pasquale Rotella in an over-the-top wedding at Disneyland. And the newlyweds are set to celebrate their 8-month-old daughter Rainbow‘s first Thanksgiving.

“I am thankful for my wonderful husband and baby as well as our close friends and family,” Holly tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Bethenny Frankel:

The Real Housewives of New York City alum Bethenny Frankel may be going through a high-profile divorce and custody battle with Jason Hoppy, but the talk show host has a lot to be grateful for this holiday season — thanks to her 3-year-old daughter Bryn.

“This year, I am thankful for my relationship with my daughter and the fact that we are so close,” Bethenny tells Celebrity Baby Scoop. “I am thankful that I truly know what love feels like.”

Nick Lachey:

Multi-platinum recording artist and TV personality Nick Lachey is counting his blessings this holiday season.

“I am mostly thankful for my immediate and extended family,” Nick tells Celebrity Baby Scoop of his happy family life with Vanessa Lachey and their 1-year-old son Camden.

“We are all happy and healthy, which I thank God for,” he adds. “I am also thankful for having my little boy now. This time last year, he was still pretty new at just two-months-old. A year later, it’s amazing to see what kind of boy he is turning into and what he is learning. He’s a lot of fun right now. It’s a great age—we can wrestle and I can teach him stuff. I am thankful for my family, for my wife, for my son, and all the love and joy they bring to my world.”

Nancy O’ Dell:

Entertainment Tonight correspondent Nancy O’Dell says she has “so much” to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

“Gosh, I am thankful for so much,” Nancy, proud mom of 6-year-old daughter Ashby and stepsons Tyler and Cason, tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

“But I would say I am most appreciative of the little moments these days,” she adds. “I have really learned to enjoy the simple things these past couple of years. I have my husband to thank for that. He is always telling me to live in the moment. For example, last night after I came home for work, my daughter and I carved and decorated pumpkins together. We had been talking all week about it and planned that last night was the night. I can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to that simple moment with her. It is so much fun to see her eyes light up with excitement about something. She actually squealed out of happiness when I walked in the door last night knowing it was time to carve! And we had the best time, giggling, roasting the seeds, and decorating our front door.”

She continues: “We have also been doing family game night these days. My two boys, my daughter, my husband and I gather around a table and play all kinds of board games and card games. It is such a fun family bonding thing to do and we have great conversations in between turns.”

Natalia Cigluti:

All My Children star Natalia Cigluti and husband, former NASCAR driver Rob Rizzo, are set to have a happy Thanksgiving with their 8-year-old son Kaden.

“I’m very thankful for my family, for my son, for the life I have, and for the people I love who love me,” the Saved by the Bell: The New Class alum tells Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Bruce Boxleitner:

Contagion star Bruce Boxleitner – dad to grown sons Sam and Lee – has a lot to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.

“I am thankful that I am still working,” the Tron actor, who is also dad to son Michael, 23, with ex-wife Melissa Gilbert, jokes with Celebrity Baby Scoop.

“I have been at this for many years, almost forty years, and I am very grateful that I have a good career going,” he adds. “I love what I do and the people I get to work with. It’s a blessing.”

Holly Madison: “Breastfeeding Was A Great Experience”

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

New mom Holly Madison is helping women reach their weight loss goals with the Holly Madison Diet. The former Girls Next Door star, 33, has teamed up with eDiets to create a custom diet plan and app for women who want to take control, eat well and stay healthy.

Holly opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about her former “unhealthy” eating habits, her 8-month-old “easy” daughter Rainbow, the benefits of breastfeeding and joys of motherhood, and how she’ll feel if Rainbow wants plastic surgery one day.

CBS: Tell us about teaming up with eDiets and creating the Holly Madison Diet. What inspired you to create the diet?

HM: “When I became pregnant, I really got into nutrition and healthy eating for the sake of the baby. I used to be so unhealthy — always running around eating fast food. When I was in the process of losing the baby weight, eDiets proposed working together to come up with a custom diet plan and app.

Revamping my diet was a huge lifestyle change for me, and I’m so interested in nutrition now. I thought it sounded like a really fun idea — and it is fun!”

CBS: Tell us all about the diet. Is it a food delivery program? Or online/mobile diet tips? What kind of support is provided for users?

HM: “When you login to, you enter your personal statistics, your goals and your preferences. A custom diet is then formulated for you to complete with shopping lists and diet logs so you can keep track of how you are doing. [There are also] recipes and support. It gives you new meal ideas all the time.”

CBS: How did you lose your weight after welcoming your daughter Rainbow? What kind of exercise did you do?

HM: “You know, I only recently started working out and Rainbow is now 8 months old. It was just the last thing I wanted to find time for while I was learning to be a mom and trying to keep up with everything else.

Diet became the biggest factor in my weight loss. Because I was breastfeeding, I had extra incentive to put healthy things in my body and I started to learn to cook because I was staying home with the baby. I used to eat all my meals out.”

CBS: Are you still breastfeeding Rainbow? Do you recommend breastfeeding to women? What are some of your favorite benefits of breastfeeding?

HM: “Breastfeeding was a great experience for me, but I’ve been told by moms I know that I am lucky my baby took to it so easily. Don’t beat yourself up if your baby just doesn’t want to do it and you go the bottle route.

But if you do choose to breastfeed, it’s nice because it burns quite a bit of calories and it kept me more mindful of what I ate because I knew what I took into my body was ending up in my baby’s food supply. ”

CBS: Now that you are a mom, do you have any regrets or different opinions about plastic surgery? How will you advise Rainbow if she wants to have plastic surgery? Would you be heartbroken if she got any plastic surgery?

HM: “I certainly wouldn’t let Rainbow get plastic surgery until she is an adult and it’s out of my hands. I hope she doesn’t feel the need to. I don’t regret the two procedures I had, but I am glad I knew when to stop. I hate the frozen face duck lip look you see on women these days.”

CBS: How do you plan to teach Rainbow about loving/accepting her body and promoting positive body-image? Are you concerned she will compare herself to you and try to live up to your beauty?

HM: “I bet Rainbow will be semi embarrassed of me and want to be totally different. Isn’t that how it works with teenagers [laughs]?”

CBS: How is Rainbow doing? What kind of baby is she? Tell us about the joys of motherhood.

HM: “Rainbow is an amazing, easy baby. I got really lucky! I love her so much and she has inspired me to slow down and enjoy life in the moment. It’s hard to keep up with everything when you are a mom, but you also realize it’s OK to let some of the stuff you used to think was so important go.”

Nancy O’Dell: I Am A Big Believer In Explaining Things To Kids

Wednesday, November 6th, 2013

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Entertainment Tonight correspondent Nancy O’Dell has sure been one busy mama! In addition to producing and hosting the HGTV show Celebrities at Home, she is also gearing up to release the Santa’s Big Premiere storybook for her popular Little Ashby: Star Reporter app.

Nancy chats with Celebrity Baby Scoop about how her six-year-old daughter, Ashby, “loves” the app and “thinks it is pretty awesome” that it is named after her. She also reveals that her daughter and stepsons, Tyler and Carson, consider her a “softie” and shares her plans to host the Rose Parade on HGTV New Year’s Day!

CBS: What has the response been to the Little Ashby: Star Reporter app, with a portion donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, so far? Do you have ideas for the next Little Ashby storybook?

NO: “The response to the kids’ educational app has been so exciting. It is a project so dear to me, because it involves kids and teaches them about all kinds of good stuff!  I love hearing from parents who say their children have so much fun with the app and, yet, they are  learning at the same time. I also see how much my daughter loves the interactive app.

Little Ashby: Star Reporter – Santa’s Big Premiere is available again now on iTunes for the upcoming Holiday ( It follows little reporter Ashby, named after my daughter, on her journey to find the real meaning of Christmas. She learns all kinds of facts along the way and a moral lesson at the end. The app has so much for kids to interact with, and they learn so much while having fun! A portion of the app’s proceeds goes to MDA in honor of Goodwill Ambassador, Bryson Foster, who voiced one of the characters for me.”

CBS: What does Ashby think about the app and the fact that it’s named in her honor?

NO: “She loves the app! She plays and plays with it, because the app does all kinds of cool, magical things when you touch the screen of your device. I love when she tells me geographical facts she learned from the story. For example, we were watching Elf (yes, we start watching holiday movies early!) the other day, and all of a sudden she said, ‘Mama, The Northern Lights!’ She was right, because you do see the Northern Lights in Elf. She learned about the Northern Lights from the Little Ashby app, because Ashby the reporter sees them on her way to the North Pole.

She thinks it is pretty awesome that the app is named after her! When I was in the process of writing the story, I asked her what we should name the main character. She said, ‘Well, Ashby, of course!’ That was that.” [laughs]

CBS: Last time we chatted, you told us a bit about Ashby’s emerging independence, is she still asking to “make her own decisions”?

NO: “Yes, she is still telling me that she is six now and, therefore, she can make her own decisions! I try to explain why that is not quite the case yet, but she loves to use the phrases ‘I am a big girl now’ and ‘I’m all grown up.’ My favorite one from the other day is ‘I’m an adult now, mama.’ What?! My baby girl is so cute! Wait a minute, she might be mad I called her my baby girl.” [laughs]

CBS: Tell us a bit about your parenting style.  If we asked your kids what kind of a mom you are, what would they tell us?

NO: “They would tell you I am a ‘softie.’ My daughter totally has the ‘cute kid’ face down pat. Whenever she wants something, she gives me that sweet or sad look and I admit that works on me pretty much every time. My boys also know that when their dad goes out of town, that is the time to ask for things because Nommy (as they call me) is the softie!

I am also a big believer in explaining things to kids and not just saying ‘no’ without an explanation, because I think kids need to understand the reason behind telling them something. For example, my daughter didn’t want to take the time to put on her helmet the other day when riding her scooter. I didn’t just tell her, ‘Well, then NO scooter!’ Instead, I said, ‘Let me explain why I want you to wear your helmet. I love you so much and if you got hurt, it would just crush Mama. We must protect that precious little head of yours.’  To this, she replied, ‘I love you too, Mama’ and immediately put on her helmet.”

CBS: What else is on your plate or up next for you?

NO: “The ‘Little Ashby: Star Reporter -Santa’s Big Premiere’ story comes out as a children’s book this holiday season, so I am very excited about that! The story, which teaches facts and moral lessons, will be available on Amazon. I am so thrilled the story will be available in a whole other medium! I am also going to host the Rose Parade on HGTV New Year’s Day! That is always such a fun event to host and one my family loves to attend! Also, the show Celebrities at Home, which I produce and host, is currently airing on HGTV. If you want to see inside some fabulous celebrity homes, tune in!”
