Brooke Burke-Charvet’s new line of workout apparel, Caelum, promises to help achieve fitness goals while staying stylish all for under $100. Celebrity Baby Scoop caught up with the always on-the-go mom of four to talk about Caelum and where her inspiration came from.
CBS: Tell us about your recent photo shoot in Venice Beach for your fitness line, Caelum Campaign. Was it nerve-wracking getting in those teeny tiny outfits for the camera?
BB: “We decided to let Venice Beach be the home for the Caelum Campaign photo shoot. I absolutely love the energy in Venice Beach so we chose to use graffiti walls and have the heart of Southern California be the backdrop for the launch of the line.
The line offers styles for every type of woman and the goal is to inspire women to dress the part and live their fittest life.”
CBS: Tell us all about the brand. It looks colorful and cozy. What inspired the various designs?
BB: “My goal for Caelum is to inspire women to get fit and dress the part. I always say, if you are going to sweat to do it in style.
I created Caelum, derived from the acronym that defines the brand: ‘core, active, evolve, live, uplift and motivate,’ for women with active, on-the-go lifestyles. I also believe that fitness is fashion! This line was inspired by seasonal colors and current fashion trends so women can have fun when they are pulling their fitness wardrobe out of their closet!”
CBS: We hear the line will be available in Nordstrom. Congrats, and tell us more!
BB: “Thank you! I am very excited that a two year dream is becoming a reality and Nordstrom is the perfect home to launch my brand. Right now, the line is available at Nordstrom.com and within the next week, will be available in Nordstrom stores across the country.”
CBS: How do you stay in check re. body image and staying healthy? How do you bring a healthy message home to your daughters? To your son?
BB: “It is very tricky. Right now, my older girls are totally into fitness, which I think is great. I try to never use words like ‘fat’ or ‘skinny’ and instead I talk about being healthy, strong and getting fit. I try to lead by example, because working out is so much more than just the body. It is about mind, body and souls as well as the benefits of choosing to be active go so much deeper than the surface.”
CBS: Shall we watch for a fitness DVD to follow? Maybe you’ll be helping moms to get back into shape post-baby?
BB: “I currently have a DVD with Sony and have already produced four titles and plan on producing four more in the next year. For these DVDs’ I did not just lend my name, but instead I developed workouts such as Sexy Abs, 30 Day Slim Down, Tone and Tighten and Strength & Condition that individuals at a variety of different fitness levels can use and truly work!”
CBS: What’s with Hollywood’s obsession to lose the baby weight fast? What’s your best advice to new moms in the postpartum period?
BB: “I totally believe in belly binding! I wrapped my post pregnancy belly in a belly binding sleeve I developed, Tauts, for forty days and forty nights. This totally helped support the baggy baby skin and forced me to keep my core engaged. I really truly believe this is the best natural approach to getting back in shape.
I will say it takes a miracle to make and grow a baby. All women need to embrace the time and anything that happens to their bodies is so worth it, but it should not be used as an excuse. Stay healthy, stay strong and be positive… remember the pregnancy belly does not have to be forever.”
CBS: Tell us your best tips for moms wanting to get started in a regular fitness routine. What’s the key to success?
BB: “I firmly believe you have to be stronger than your excuses. There are a lot of tips and tricks, but no real secrets.
Making a commitment with a friend, signing up for a gym membership, purchasing a DVD, signing up for a workout class are all really helping and keep you honest. I also think women need to mix up their workouts, set reasonable goals and make the commitment to start.
If you are not sweating, you are not working out hard enough. So push yourself to your limits, write it down and make a schedule that allows you to be as equally important as everyone else is in your life. Make fitness a priority.”
CBS: How are your kids doing? Do they enjoy working out with you? Or are they into sports? Maybe they like both?
BB: “My kids are doing awesome! They love to workout with me. I really enjoy family fitness and sometimes will bring my son to a class and I love bringing my older girls to my Booty Burn class. It is a fun, rhythmic and free space for everyone to have a blast.”
Offering the perfect balance of performance and style, Caelum’s design aesthetic is luxe, modern minimalism using soft, stylish and functional fabrics. Providing maximum performance and comfort for a better fit and a better workout at an affordable price, Caelum apparel will help achieve fitness goals while staying stylish all for under $100. Caelum will be available at Nordstrom stores nationwide in early May.

One celebrity mom who knows a thing or two about travel: Brooke Burke-Charvet. The Dancing with the Stars champ and mom of four has ventured all over with her family, from the states to Europe, even Africa. It makes perfect sense then that the TV personality recently teamed up with Embassy Suites Hotels to host a panel with her daughter Rain, 7, and son Shaya, 6, on the “Pretty Great Family Debate,” a discussion on tackling common family disputes like homework, bedtime and yes, vacation planning. Parents got the scoop on how Brooke keeps her cool while traveling and what she can’t wait to do with her kids this summer.
P: So your family likes to plan vacations together. What helps you all make decisions without butting heads?
B: I’m all for a family meeting, but it’s really tough. I have four very opinionated children. The little ones, Rain and Shaya, kind of go with the flow but my teenage daughters Neriah, 14, and Sierra, 12, always have their own plans in mind. We try to do one big family vacation a year, so what we do is we’ll sit down and agree on a destination. More so, it’s about them deciding how we want to spend the time once we’re there. I try to let everybody choose one thing that they want to do. You want to make sure that family travel is enjoyable for every member, so it’s not just all about the kids or all about the parents.
P: In your travels, what places have your kids found cool?
B: We have a pretty good sense of adventure as a family. My children love to be on an island; they love the water. This summer, we’re going to try scuba diving for the very first time now that the kids are old enough. We’re going on a family cruise too, which I’m really excited about. They even like to go to Europe and discover history. I’ve always felt like we make every destination family-friendly. We teach them how to conduct themselves in any environment.
P: How do you keep your children entertained on longer trips?
B: I really feel like that depends on the energy and nature of the parent. I mean, I took Shaya and Rain to Africa when they were 2 and 3, even though every other mother thought I was insane. It’s just a matter of trying to go with the sun rather than staying on your own time zone. Be flexible as a parent and try not to travel as Americans. Get into the mindset of the local people wherever you are. When you go into a trip expecting to have exactly what you have at home, you’re just going to be disappointed. And I’ve found red-eye flights can be really great for long trips because everybody can just shut down and go to sleep.
P: What go-to items are with you all the time on vacation?
B: Books! I’m a big believer of less is more, and I like to encourage my children to read. It’s a great way to wind down on the plane. I limit tech, but everybody likes to have some iPad time. They’ll play with a mix of educational and pure entertainment games. I also like arts and crafts that are containable, like everyone’s into these bracelet-making projects right now. The things that take up a small amount of space but are cute and nifty are great for me.
P: Family fights are never fun! How do you handle meltdowns during a trip?
B: With more kids, it’s bound to happen. There’s always one child not happy. I just think you have to nip it in the butt really quickly. I don’t tolerate a lot of family fighting.
P: With summer on its way, what activities are you most excited to do with your kids?
B: My two teenagers are into paddle boarding, and I also just started doing Soul Cycle with my oldest, Neriah. We have a trampoline in the backyard; that’s great exercise and super fun. Shaya is honestly determined to teach me how to do a back flip. God help me! We also like to be outdoors and go on hikes.
P: I’m sure you’ll have more free time this summer with your children out of school. What helps you unwind in your spare time?
B: For me, it’s really my workouts. That’s totally my only hour in the day that’s me-time where I really don’t have to think about anything else. It’s not just a physical benefit; it’s also great for mind, body, and soul. And I love to cook. I find that it’s really relaxing. It’s a huge bonus because my family loves to eat and there’s a lot of people to feed.

Love is in the air!
In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Celebrity Baby Scoop asked some of our favorite celebrity moms how they keep the romance alive in their relationships. From Brooke Burke-Charvet’s scheduled date nights, to Soleil Moon Frye’s gadget-free time, to Eden Riegel’s Valentine’s Day plans, read about how the stars keep the flame burning.
Author and actress Sheila Kelley is bringing sexy back with a new campaign entitled, Redefining Sexy: Believe In Your Beauty, which aims to redefine the terms “sexy” and “beauty” through a provocative video featuring true stories of real women.
Mom to Ruby, 12, and Gus, 18, with husband, actor Richard Schiff, Sheila opened up about keeping things sexy in her marriage as well.
“My hub-man Richard Schiff and I are madly in love because he lets me be a woman, and I let him be a man,” she said.
“We balance each other and we have this love affair that’s like a dance of masculine and feminine energy,” Sheila added. “It’s divine. We both travel a lot for work and are sometimes apart for months at a time. He’s in New York right now for a role in Glengarry Glen Ross with Al Pacino. So I fly in to see him and we have these very intense romantic weekends at our favorite spots in Manhattan.”
Actress and mom Kearran Giovanni stars in the new hit TNT drama Major Crimes, the spin-off of the critically acclaimed series The Closer.
The actress — mom to daughters, Jordan, 4, and Peyton, 2, with husband Philip Ambrosino — chatted about keeping the flame burning in their relationship.
“We switch off roles constantly,” she shared. “And we have a set Thursday night date night.”
Pregnant in Heels star Rosie Pope and husband Daron Pope are parents to three kids: sons J.R., 4, Wells, 2, and 9-month-old daughter Vivienne.
The maternity concierge dished about keeping the romance alive in their busy household.
“This is going to sound corny but we are still so in love and we love being a family more than anything so even if we are at home, once the kids are in bed, we always make time to sit down together over a glass of wine,” Rosie said. “I think whether it’s a date night or a glass of wine on the couch it’s just about finding that time together.”
Melissa Joan Hart
Sabrina The Teenage Witch alum Melissa Joan Hart and her husband, musician Mark Wilkerson, are parents to three sons: Mason, 7, Brady, 4, and Tucker, 5 months.
The Melissa & Joey star shared how her and her hubby are keeping the romance alive in their busy household.
“We are so in love with our children and family,” MJH said. “It helps our bond grow even stronger!”

For many families, the back-to-school rush can be overwhelming and chaotic. Some of our favorite celebrity moms are helping to alleviate some of that stress and anxiety by sharing their best advice. From Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s G-Free snacks, to Bethenny Frankel’s best bargains, to Brooke Burke-Charvet’s must-haves, read some great back-to-school tips from Hollywood’s moms.
Dancing With the Stars host Brooke Burke-Charvet and husband David Charvet are parents to four kids: Neriah, 12, Sierra, 10, Rain, 5, and Shaya, 4. The mom-of-four wrote on her blog about preparing for the new school year:
“Back to school starts now in my house even though all four of my kids are returning at different times. This year will be my most challenging school year yet. Four kids in three different schools with four different drop-off and pick-up times.
Thankfully my youngest, Shaya, will still enjoy our beloved homeschool for two days a week. We decided to put him in a “regular” program three days a week so he’ll be with more kids as his sister is moving up to kindergarten.
I hate online paperwork and envy the parents with only one child. I literally have folders, separate file cabinets for each kid, their rosters, forms, sports and miscellaneous important documents. It’s a LOT to organize. Does anyone else feel that there are way too many orientations, meet-and-greets, pot lucks and social activities this month? Multiply it by four and you can imagine my schedule. Plus during BTS nights, I am divided in numerous classrooms and for SURE missing something.
I spent the day labeling backpacks, lunch boxes, water bottles and clothes.
Here are some of my BTS MUST-HAVES. My kids love them all and it truly helps to have some go-to items to help you keep it together.”

Days of our Lives star Alison Sweeney is mom to son Ben, 7, and daughter Megan, 3. The Biggest Loser host is also a blogger and shared some of her best back-to-school fashion tips for the “stylin’ mom” on AlisonSweeney.com:
“School is starting again, and that means meeting lots of new people, for your kids and you. I love attending back-to-school nights and open houses and other evening events at Ben’s school and Megan’s preschool because it’s a chance to learn more about their teachers and interact with their classmates’ parents.
When I get ready for something like that, I keep my outfit simple and comfortable, but I definitely get more dressed up than I would for school pickup or running around at the playground.”
