If you wake up every morning and turn your TV to the TODAY show, then you know who Savannah Guthrie is, and you know she’s expecting her first baby!
On June 30, the women of TODAY hosted Savannah’s Baby Shower at the Glass Houses in New York city with the theme, ”Extra! Extra! Read All About It!” Keeping it unisex, the party was layered in a yellow and grey color scheme, with an emphasis on books, letters, and newspaper. Guests included co-workers from TODAY, friends and family, and her husband, Mike Feldman.
Guests who attended the shower were asked to bring one unwrapped book for Savannah’s baby and one for a deserving child, which were then displayed on a bookshelf. From playing a personalized crossword puzzle, to decorating Burt’s Bees onesies for the baby-on-the-way, Savannah and her guests were well entertained throughout.
Get Savannah’s shower look, including banners, a photo backdrop, unique gift tags, and more! Whether it’s games and prizes, sweets and treats, and packed goody bags, letting friends and family take a little bit of your shower home with them is an easy way to let everyone share in on the fun (even days after your shower!). Savannah’s guests all took home a Minted notebook, Sprinkles cupcakes individually wrapped with “Extra! Extra! printed on top, Rita Hazan hair gloss and Hanky Panky undies in pink and in blue!

Baby Shower Ideas: How To Set Up A Onesie-Decorating Station
I must admit, I haven’t had a baby shower since my first son was born, but I often get asked questions about the etiquette surrounding showers for 2nd, 3rd and 4th babies. My response is always the same: There is no reason you shouldn’t have a party to celebrate this wonderful occasion, but don’t ask for gifts or create a registry. We simply can’t expect our friends to keep forking over money and gifts so that we can have the latest and greatest baby gear. Clearly there are exceptions to this rule (hello, unexpected triplets!), and, as friends, it is our job to throw showers for our friends that need them for one reason or another—they shouldn’t have to ask!
These most tasteful of second showers are aptly dubbed a “sprinkle,” which always makes me think of someone tossing sprinkles all over me in some extravagant version of the wedding rice-throwing tradition! (So far however, it hasn’t happened.) So with baby #4 on the way, I was delighted that my friends at Hot Moms Club and Belly Bandit decided to get in on my “sprinkle”-throwing action. Here are the do’s of throwing one yourself:
*Choose a fun location. Look for something that’s more reminiscent of the margarita-drinking, disco-dancing, pre-baby you, and shy away from the traditional tea rooms that you may have picked for your first shower. Those are wonderful for baby #1 and completely appropriate when your great aunt needs to attend, but this one should be a smaller affair, and more for you and your friends than for your granny’s bingo crowd. Mine was held at the newly-opened Herringbone restaurant at the Mondrian Hotel in West Hollywood, which provided a chic party environment as opposed to a ladies luncheon vibe. Tea cups were replaced with cocktail glasses (or mocktail glasses for mommies-to-be) because after all: “sprinkles” are parties.
*Serve sweet eats. Or, if you’re more of a pastry trend-setter, cronuts. Delicious, sugary treats never go out of style and much more aptly fit the party environment than fruit plates and finger sandwiches.
*Choose the yummiest of foods on the menu. After your “sprinkle,” you aren’t likely to have another party where you eat French fries with reckless abandon, so now is the time. We served French fry salad—such a great way to wreak havoc on a salad—topped with guac, bacon bits, cheese, and crisp lettuce.
*Ask for modest donations. Consider asking guests to bring diapers for a diaper drive or to donate gently used gear of their own to wonderful charities, like Baby Buggy.
*Assemble thoughtful goody bags. If there are some new moms amongst your bunch, considering including one of your favorite mommy tools in your goody bags. Mine included the tummy-shrinking Belly Bandit and some pieces from my new baby line. While I don’t expect you to go out and start making baby clothes, do include that special something you have so appreciated knowing about in your gift bag so you can share it with your friends.
Once the location, the gifts, and the refreshments are taken care of, be sure to relax and have fun. Your sprinkle is your party, your time with you and your friends, and a chance to celebrate one of the most amazing things in life. A new baby is on its way, so “sprinkle” away!
Safe Haven star Josh Duhamel is one busy daddy-to-be. With his baby boy arriving “in about a week,” Josh joined forces with Valspar Paint and Habitat for Humanity to launch Valspar Hearts & Hands for Habitat on Monday (August 19) in New York City, benefitting Habitat for Humanity’s Disaster Response program.
The New Year’s Eve actor, 40, opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about the “important” disaster relief program, his “excitement” to become a dad, and his lovely wife Fergie, whom he has “no doubt” will “be an amazing mom.”
CBS: Tell us about teaming up with Valspar Paint and Habitat for Humanity for the Valspar Hearts and Hands for Habitat Campaign. What is the campaign all about and why did you get involved?
JD: “I got involved because I believe that the work that Valspar Paint and Habitat for Humanity are doing is really important. I feel especially passionate about this because after my hometown in North Dakota was hit in 2011, I saw firsthand how many families were affected and how many people needed to rebuild.
When I learned about the work that Valspar was doing with Habitat, I just wanted to be involved with the Valspar Hearts and Hands for Habitat campaign. There’s an auction kicking off today on Valspar’s Facebook page where people can bid on canvases that various celebrities put their handprints on. We’ll be auctioning them off and all the proceeds will go to Habitat for Humanity’s Disaster Response programs.”
CBS: Are you excited to become a dad?
JD: “Excitement isn’t even the word. Everybody that I know that has children says it changes their life and that you can’t understand the kind of love you have for a child until you have a kid, and so I’m excited for that.”
CBS: How do you think you’ll be in the delivery room? Do you think you’ll be there every step of the way?
JD: “I plan to unless it happens right now! Just kidding – yes, I plan on being there. I’m taking a lot of time off after the baby’s born. I don’t want to miss anything!”
CBS: What kind of mom do you think Fergie will be?
JD: “She’ll be great. I have no doubt that she’ll be an amazing mom.”
CBS: What’s up next for you?
JD: “I finished a movie this summer called Strings and I’ve got a movie You’re Not You coming out later this year with Hilary Swank, which is really great. And then mostly just focusing the new arrival in about a week; that’s my main focus right now.”

Fact: Kristen Bell had her baby shower a few days ago. Another fact: I was somehow not invited. How I was overlooked from the guest list is an absolute mystery to me, but I really should have taken matters into my own hands and crashed the freaking party anyway.
If you’re wondering why I’d do such a thing and not just leave the lady alone to celebrate her impending mommyhood with her closest circle—let me explain. Here are five (clearly very good) reasons why yours truly should have been partying with Kristen Bell last weekend:
1. A long time ago, we used to be friends.
Okay, Kristen Bell and I never reallyused to be friends, but we SHOULD be friends, because we have so much in common. I mean, we both went vegetarian when we were 11, we both love corgis, and we’re both hockey fans? BFFs made in heaven. Obviously.
2. Because I have questions Rachel Bilson was there, and I absolutely need to talk to her about Hart of Dixieand The O.C. I wonder if she got to keep Princess Sparkle. And . . . was Adam Brody a good kisser?
3. I bet the sloth was there
4. To party down
Because it looked like the most fun baby shower ever. Not convinced? Check the picture (above) of Kristen Bell holding nipple pumps up to her breasts. Ridiculous, and ridiculously awesome.
5. The most obvious reason of all!
To wish her and Dax Shepard my absolute best. Kristen and Dax seem so real and cool—and their baby is going to be incredible. Basically, I’m psyched for them and want to raise a glass!
Love Kristen Bell as much as I do? Wish her well (and give her any baby tips you’ve got!) in the comments.
