Coming Monday: The Premiere of Sheriff Callie’s Wild West on Disney Junior

Thursday, January 16th, 2014

Are you home with your kids this Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Then you’ll all be around for a children’s television event: the premiere of the first Western for preschoolers! Disney Junior’s Sheriff Callie’s Wild West follows a loveable feline law enforcer (voiced by Mandy Moore) and her friends on their adventures in the frontier town Nice and Friendly Corners. Each animated episode features two 11-minute stories focused on teaching valuable life lessons, such as the importance of sharing, honesty, and being a good friend.

We’re particularly excited about Sheriff Callie because she’s a positive female role model for kids. And as you would expect from a show utilizing the talents of singer Mandy Moore, each episode also features two original songs. Plus how can you resist that adorable cactus-wearing a cowboy hat?

Be sure to watch this exclusive preview of the show, and tune in on January 20th at 5pm EST/PST on Disney Junior!

Animated movies are great for entertaining kids as well as imparting a little wisdom. If there’s one message young ones will get from watching Disney’s Planes, it’s that no dream is too big.

Fans of the film will be familiar with Dusty Crophopper, a cropduster plane that dreams of becoming a professional racer. Despite the fact he’s meant to spray cornfields, Dusty embarks on a journey across the world to create his own destiny.

Though he definitely encounters a hitch or two along the way, the important thing is that he never stops fighting to reach his goals. As a parent, it’s safe to say you want the same for your child, and Parents’ latest giveaway is here to offer some inspiration.

Martha Stewart Christmas Cartoon on Hallmark Channel

Friday, December 17th, 2010

Martha Stewart and the Christmas TreeWhat was craft maven Martha Stewart like at 10-years-old?

We can’t answer the question, but a new holiday cartoon special called “Martha and the Christmas Tree“ will feature an animated 10-year-old Martha Stewart.  The cartoon will be the first in a ”Martha & Friends” TV series that will debut on the Hallmark Channel this upcoming Monday, December 20 at 7:00 pm EST.

A collaboration between Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, A Squared (A2) Entertainment, and AOLKids, the holiday special will feature “a 10-year old Martha Stewart as a problem-solving, craft-loving, generous spirit who, with the help of her three best friends, comes to the community’s rescue during the holiday season” (PitchEngine.com).

A clip of “Martha and the Christmas Tree” shows a 10-year-old Martha with her recognizable adult haircut, dispensing fun advice and tips for Christmas crafting and baking.  The animation, done in sweet, simple pastels also features her two French bulldogs (who talk, of course!).

Four more feature-length cartoons will debut next year along with 26 webisodes (plus related games and projects) on www.marthaandfriends.com.
