Best of 2012: Favorite Maternity Trends

Monday, December 31st, 2012

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

There’s no question Hollywood had a baby boom in 2012. And in celebration, we’re taking a look at the best maternity fashion trends of this last year.

1. Sarah Michelle Gellar

Our readers love Sarah Michelle Gellar! Not only is she one of our favorite celebrity moms year-after-year, we can’t get enough of her fabulous fashions. And when she is dressing a baby bump, we all watch with admiration.

Before welcoming her son Rocky in September, SMG led the way in maternity trends this year. From going casual in skinny jeans and tees, to leggy floral prints and layers, we couldn’t get enough of Buffy’s maternity trends.

2. Reese Witherspoon

New mom-of-three Reese Witherspoon was simply radiant with breezy summer dresses throughout her third pregnancy.

Before welcoming son Tennessee in September, Reese delighted us with her stylish maternity duds. From polka dots, to stripes, to solid colors, the Oscar-winner often opted for above-the-knee dresses, flat sandals, and layered necklaces throughout her pregnancy. We loved it!

3. Kourtney Kardashian

From casual chic to red carpet ready, Kourtney Kardashian sure knows how to make pregnancy look good!

Before welcoming her second child – daughter Penelope – in July, the reality TV starlet was the queen of polished pregnancy looks. Whether it was at the latest Hollywood event or at the local farmer’s market, the reality TV mama did not disappoint. For her everyday maternity style, Kourt kept things casual chic in fitted duds showcasing her burgeoning belly, paired with the latest trends such as oversized handbags, fedoras, and blazers.

4. Kristin Cavallari

The Hills alum Kristin Cavallari was one of those lucky women who was ‘all belly’ during pregnancy.

And she dressed that bump beautifully while expecting her first child – son Camden who was born in August. From feminine flowing maxi dresses, to mini maternity looks, to skinny jeans and form-fitted tops, we could not get enough of Kristin’s maternity style.

5. Camila Alves

Brazilian beauty Camila Alves knows how to make pregnancy look good!

Before giving birth to her third child with Matthew McConaughey earlier this week, the model mom flaunted her maternity curves with fitted dresses and colorful prints as her belly grew.

Happy In Hollywood: 10 Strong Celebrity Marriages

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

After nine years of marriage to Michael Stone, we were sorry to hear Mayim Bailiks divorce announcement last week.

But they’re not the only ones. It seems there’s a new split every other week among Hollywood’s couples. But there’s a few duos that keep the flame burning in Tinseltown. From David and Victoria Beckham’s 13-year union, to Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick’s two decade-plus marriage, let’s take a look at 10 Hollywood couples with strong marriages.

1. David and Victoria Beckham

David and Victoria Beckham are practically British royalty. Dubbed ‘Posh and Becks’ by the media, the longtime couple have been married for 13 years.

Seemingly blissful since their July 1999 wedding, the British power couple have four children together: sons Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, and Cruz, 7, and 1-year-old daughter Harper.

“Our house is a really happy house,” Victoria said. “There are kids running around and laughing and joking, I smile so much more than people would think. There’s nothing better than being in LA with my kids, cooking dinner with my husband and having a romantic night in…I’m growing older with the most amazing man I’ve ever met – with my soul mate. Life’s great.”

2. Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck

Married for 7 years, Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck seem like one of the happiest couples in Hollywood with their three children: daughters Violet, nearly 7, and Seraphina, nearly 4, and 9-month-old son Samuel.

The Garflecks, who wed in June 2005, seem like the perfect match.

“Jennifer played such a profound role in making me a better person,” Ben said. “We don’t have a perfect marriage, but she inspired me; and finding myself in that marriage and having a child dovetailed with getting to be a little more mature.” He added of his wife, “She truly is kind. She means no one any harm. She doesn’t have ill will for any person. She’s not competitive with other people. She’s not spiteful. It’s one of those things where it becomes almost aggravating at times. Every time I go, ‘F— him!’ I see in her face that she just thinks that’s petty and small.”

3. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

Rockstar couple Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale have been married for 10 years and appear to have the perfect family-of-four with their two sons, Kingston, 6, and Zuma, 4.

After celebrating their 2002 wedding with three ceremonies, the No Doubt frontwoman recently said marriage can be hard, but a dream come true.

“My biggest accomplishment is my marriage so far,” Gwen said. “Because it’s hard, everyone knows it’s hard. [Marriage] is something that I always wanted to do successfully. It was a dream of mine. I like the official-ness and the family-ness of it all, having the same name and making decisions together.”

She went on to say they are closer than ever after a decade together.

“[Our relationship] is better than it’s ever been. Like, we’re learning about each other all the time. He’s an amazing dad, he works so hard – I can hear him writing songs through the wall, and it is at a much quicker pace than me! He balances me out. And he – he never stops liking me, which is awesome! It makes me feel happy, that someone likes me as much as he does.”

10 Celebrity Parents Who Do (and Don’t) Want Their Kids In Showbiz

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

If you were in show business, would you want your children to follow in your footsteps? Or would you discourage your children from the limelight of Hollywood with every ounce of your being?

Celebrity Baby Scoop checks out which celeb parents have encouraged their children to enter the wild world of fame and fortune, those that forbid it with all their might, and the ones that sit on the fence.

1. John Travolta

John Travolta has kept us entertained since the 70s in the huge hits Saturday Night Fever and Grease. And not to mention his triumphant career comeback in the 90s cult classic, Pulp Fiction. Prior to the tragic death of his son Jett, John appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show and announced his daughter Ella’s debut in the big screen comedy, Old Dogs.

“Jett was young when he saw Look Who’s Talking, but he didn’t like it when I was kissing Kirstie Alley. But Ella took right to it right away. That’s why last year she said, ‘When am I going to do a movie with you?’ Little did she know, dad had a trick up his sleeve. She’s a natural performer,” John said. “She’s just like I was. I didn’t push it at all, because I knew that worked. My mother didn’t push me, either. We were just given our space to be whatever we wanted to be, and I decided that works better than any kind of pressure.” John added, “Unless they’re afraid they’re going to be rejected and they want to protect them. And I can imagine parents would fear that, but you can be rejected in any profession.”

2. Tom Cruise

Fellow Scientologist, Tom Cruise, agrees that show business is a great place for kids. Tom’s son Connor entered the family business (mom is Tom’s ex, Nicole Kidman) when he was 14 years old in Will Smith’s flick Seven Pounds. Perhaps one day Tom and Katie Holmes’ 6-year-old daughter Suri will follow in her big brother – and her divorced parents’ – footsteps.

When asked if he’d like Suri to enter showbiz, Tom said:

“I’d love it. Acting is work I love. I love to create life and give energy, create characters, and create stories.”

3. Will Smith

Will Smith and his wife Jada Pinkett Smith are all-for their kids entering the family business. Both of their children – son Jaden, 14, and daughter Willow, 11 – have graced the big screen. Jaden costarred with his father in The Pursuit of Happyness, appeared alongside Keanu Reeves in The Day the Earth Stood Still, and in the remake of the Karate Kid. Willow made her acting debut alongside her papa in I Am Legend and later lit up the big screen in Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.

So what does Will think of his kids entering the family business?

“She has a drive. She has an energy and she just connects to human emotion,” Will said of daughter Willow. “I think a big part was probably [seeing] Jaden after The Pursuit of Happyness. She saw what Jaden did, and she was like, ‘I want that,’” Will added. “Jaden is [like] Johnny Depp. He just wants to do good work . . . He loves acting, he just wants to make good movies,” Will said and joked, “and Willow is Paris Hilton. Willow wants to be on TV.”

Tinseltown’s Tots Go Trick-or-Treating

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

This post was written by our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Could you imagine the likes of Shiloh Jolie-Pitt or Honor Warren coming to your front door on Halloween night? Celebrity Baby Scoop is taking a look at 15 celebrity families that love to go trick-or-treating with their tots in their swanky neighborhoods.

1. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

RadarOnline caught Brangelina and their brood trick-or-treating in the Los Angeles area on Halloween night.

Brad Pitt looked hilarious dressed up as DJ Lance Rock from the kids TV show Yo Gabba Gabba! His leading lady, Angelina Jolie, went as the walking dead, while Maddox was a dead army soldier, Zahara was Batgirl, and Shiloh was a jet fighter.

2. Christina Aguilera

Grammy Award-winning singer Christina Aguilera was spotted with son Max trick-or-treating in Brentwood, Calif. on Halloween night. The mother-son duo looked adorable in their matching skeleton costumes.

3. Scott Baio

See Dad Run star Scott Baio and wife Renee have big plans for their daughter Bailey, nearly 5, this Halloween.

“Bailey got a witch Minnie Mouse costume that has orange and black polka dots, and we will go trick-or-treating up in our neighborhood,” Scott recently told Celebrity Baby Scoop. “There are hundreds of kids that come up here, so it is a lot of fun.”

When she was just 2, Bailey buzzed along as a bee in their Los Angeles neighborhood.

“We went trick-or-treating in our Toluca Lake neighborhood,” Renee said. “It’s very festive for Halloween. They close down some of the streets. Buses drop children off by what looks to be in the hundreds. A lot of the parents/adults dress up too. A few of the homes (the Kerns family – the juice makers – and the Disney family) really go out with turning their property into a haunted house scene.”

1. Neil Patrick Harris

Neil Patrick Harris shared an adorable picture with his twins – son Gideon and daughter Harper – last Halloween.

The family-of-four dressed up with a Peter Pan theme, with NPH going as Captain Hook, his partner David Burtka as Peter, and their twins as Smee and Tinkerbell. What a great idea!

2. Alyson Hannigan

Alyson Hannigan and husband Alexis Denisof love getting dressed up for Halloween. Last year, they dressed as a scarecrow couple alongside their sweet daughter Satyana who went as a pumpkin.

3. Jessica Alba

4. Britney Spears

Britney Spears and her family posed for a festive picture in London last Halloween. The pop superstar shared a photo while on tour, looking amazing in a femme fatale outfit alongside her sweet sons, her mother Lynne, and beau Jason Trawick.

7. Katherine Heigl

Grey’s Anatomy alum Katherine Heigl and husband Josh Kelley got into the Halloween spirit last year as they took their adorable daughter Naleigh to a party in Los Angeles.

While the couple looked great in their costumes, Naleigh melted our hearts in her pretty princess outfit.

8. Holly Robinson Peete

Weezy never looked better! Holly Robinson Peete dressed up in a Lil Wayne costume at the 18th Annual Dream Halloween event in Los Angeles last Halloween.

9. Melissa Rycroft

Reality TV mama Melissa Rycroft and husband Tye Strickland posed for pics with their adorable baby girl Ava at the Dream Halloween benefit in Los Angeles last Halloween.

5 Celebrity Moms on Losing the Baby Weight

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

This post was written by Jenny Schafer from Celebrity Baby Scoop.

Losing the baby weight is challenging for most women. But when you’re a celebrity mom, Hollywood’s beauty standards can make the postpartum period downright miserable.

Let’s take a look at 5 high-profile mamas who have opened up about weight loss post-pregnancy. Read about Gisele Bündchen‘s “muscle memory,” to Hilary Duff not losing the baby weight “overnight,” to Gwen Stefani admitting it was “no miracle” that she’s regained her svelte figure.

Alyson Hannigan:
American Pie star Alyson Hannigan and her husband, actor Alexis Denisof, welcomed their second daughter, Keeva Jane,  on May 23. The Buffy alums are also parents to 3-year-old daughter Satyana.

Since welcoming baby Keeva, Alyson has talked about not losing the baby weight quickly enough for Tinseltown.

“I think by Hollywood standards I’m supposed to be in bikini shape now that my baby is 4 weeks old,” she playfully tweeted. “My workout goal: Food drops in lap, not on belly.”

Despite her woes, fans of the How I Met Your Mother star showed their support for “setting a good example” and not rushing to lose the baby weight.

Alyson replied, “I still haven’t lost all the weight from my first daughter. Oh well.”

Hilary Duff:
Lizzie McGuire actress Hilary Duff and husband, hockey star Mike Comrie, welcomed their first child, son Luca, on March 20. The Disney darling recently said that she enjoyed eating during her pregnancy.

“My whole life you know I worked out and exercised and been in the public eye and always watched what I ate. This was like a vacation,” Hilary said of enjoying eating during pregnancy. “I had a blast. I wouldn’t go back and change it. I had a lot of fun.”

The new mom has also opened up about her postpartum weight loss.

“I’m not perfect, but I feel fantastic,” she said. “This is how it goes for most women – the weight doesn’t fall off overnight.”

The actress-singer, 24, added that she’s been exercising “a few” times a week, mixing spin classes with private training sessions.

She added that her hubby “doesn’t care” about her extra pregnancy weight, and added, “Even during my pregnancy he thought I was beautiful.”

Gisele Bündchen:
Supermodel Gisele Bündchen and her husband, football star Tom Brady, welcomed their first child together, son Benjamin, on December 8, 2009.

The Brazilian beauty talked about regaining her figure almost instantly after Benjamin’s birth.

“I think it’s muscle memory,” Gisele said. “I did kung fu up until two weeks before Benjamin was born, and yoga three days a week. I think a lot of people get pregnant and decide they can turn into garbage disposals. I was mindful about what I ate, and I gained only 30 pounds.”

Molly Sims:
Actress Molly Sims and husband Scott Stuber welcomed their first child, son Brooks Alan, on June 19. The new mom recently opened up about her mission to lose the 50 pounds of baby weight that she gained during her first pregnancy.

“Eating during my pregnancy was easy, but losing the baby weight – that’s going to be a whole other story,” Molly wrote on MollySims.com. “As much as I tried to stick to a healthy diet and exercise routine while I was pregnant, I ended up gaining 50 pounds—so let’s just say I have my work cut out for me! But no matter what it takes, being in the best shape possible has always been very important to me. I’m more than willing to put in the work to get my pre-baby body back.”

Gwen Stefani:
Rockers Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are parents to two sons – Kingston, 6, and Zuma, nearly 4. Five months after welcoming Kingston, Gwen talked about her postpartum weight loss.

“That’s been really hard,” she said of losing the weight. “But it’s almost gone. I’ve just been eating healthy,” she said, adding, “I cheat every day at least once.”

The uber-svelte No Doubt frontwoman has admitted to struggling with her weight and body image after having two children. She said that her current figure is “no miracle” and that it took eight months to lose the baby weight after the arrival of Zuma.

And even Gavin chimed in about the pressures on his wife to lose the baby weight under the limelight.

“Yeah, she does [feel under pressure to lose the weight fast], Gavin said. “I mean, she’s just so dedicated and she’s just amazing with that stuff (weight loss). It’s very hard because everyone’s so judged the whole time.”

Alyson Hannigan’s Potty Training Tips

Monday, February 27th, 2012

We’re gonna go ahead and guess that potty training isn’t your favorite part of parenthood. But it’s a task that every parent and child has to get through, so why not make it fun? This past weekend, How I Met Your Mother star Alyson Hannigan partnered with Pull-Ups to host a Potty Dance Party, introducing a new way to train. “Potty training is a big deal, so why not kick it off with a celebration?” says Hannigan. “The potty dance turns a daunting task into a fun, exciting experience.”  (See video clips of Hannigan’s Potty Dance Party here.)

How do you know if your tot is ready to start? If she shows an interest in the bathroom, tells you when she has to go, or asks to be changed, she’s giving you the hint. When that happens, kick off the training journey with a Potty Dance Party. “When my daughter was interested, I would sit her on the potty, and if she went it was a huge deal,” says Hannigan. “It wasn’t until I picked a day and committed to it, and began asking her every 20 minutes if she needed to go, that it actually worked.” That’s not to say she hasn’t had any hiccups (Hannigan notes a couple public-restroom-automatic-flush incidents that scared her daughter, Satyana), but the combination of keeping it fun and offering an organic-gummy-vitamin reward for going potty in public has helped them both get through training.

Visit Pull-Ups.com to learn the potty dance steps and song and to start planning your own Potty Dance Party.

Celebrities Who Announce Pregnancies & Births On Twitter

Friday, February 17th, 2012

Our friends at Celebrity Baby Scoop wrote this post.

Who needs a publicist these days?

When celebrities start sporting a baby bump, Twitter is the communication tool to spread the happy news. And when it’s time to jump on the proud-new-parent bandwagon, what better way to announce the new addition than on a social network?!

Take a look through a list of celebrities that took to Twitter to announce their pregnancy and birth news.

Pregnancy Announcements:

Jessica Simpson:
In one of the worst-kept secrets in Hollywood history, Jessica Simpson took to Twitter on Halloween Day to confirm her pregnancy news.

“It’s True! I am going to be a mummy!”

While cradling her baby bump, the 31-year-old singer and fashionista – who is engaged to former NFL player Eric Johnson – also dressed up in a mummy Halloween costume in a photograph accompanying the tweet.

Molly Sims:
Molly Sims and her husband Scott Stuber are expecting their first child later this year. The model and actress took to Twitter to announce the exciting news.

“Big news… I’m having a baby!” the blonde beauty wrote.

The 38-year-old beauty then directed her Twitter followers to read the following message on her official website: “I am absolutely, positively, downright over the moon to announce that we are pregnant!” she wrote. The mom-to-be added that their “honeymoon baby” is due in June.

Alyson Hannigan:
How I Met Your Mother star Alyson took to Twitter to announce her second pregnancy with husband Alexis Denisof.

Yes, I am pregnant!” Alyson wrote. “This time it is NOT a food baby. We are beyond happy!”

The American Pie actress was referring to her hilarious response to some photos we posted at the Malibu Chili Cook Off event last September.

She wrote: “NO, I’m not pregnant! I just ate too much carnival food, that time of the month, hurt my back & couldn’t suck my gut in, and need to do cardio!”

Alyson and Alexis are already parents to 2-year-old daughter Satyana.

Tori Spelling & Dean McDermott:
Reality TV stars Tori Spelling and Dean McDermott are proud parents to two children: son Liam, 4, and daughter Stella, 3. The Beverly Hills, 90210 alum announced her third pregnancy via Twitter.

“I know there’s been a lot of speculation, so I wanted everyone to hear from me… It’s official…Dean & I are PREGNANT!!!!”

The couple welcomed daughter Hattie Margaret on October 10, 2011. Tori has since posted several pics of her newborn daughter via Twitter.
