American Baby’s Baby Booty: Win $250 to Shop Zutano.com!

Your mind doesn’t work clearly when you’re pregnant. You come up with grand visions and crazy rules, like “my daughter will NEVER use a pacifier.” Then cut to two months after the birth and you’re frantically buying one of every pacifier the drugstore sells, hoping she’ll take one of them.

I actually decided, during my second pregnancy when I was sleepy, hormonal, and seriously morning-sick, that my son would come out into the world and wear nothing except Zutano clothing. I really thought I could somehow limit his wardrobe to this, my favorite brand. It was as if my brain refused to remember that some relatives would pass me bodysuits emblazoned with sports themes, or that friends would give me stuff with goofy slogans on it. Or that my mom, chief grandchild-clothier, has her own brand attachments. Most importantly, I had somehow shut down the part of my brain that remembered that a baby can vomit on every outfit in the diaper bag, and often you just have to stop into the nearest mass-market store and buy a huge pack of Onesies.

So lets just say that things didn’t go as planned. Joe rocked a lot of different looks. But I can promise you that when he was wearing clothes that I bought him myself, they were Zutano. Check him out below, determined to walk in his little Zutano footie! (Yes, he used his big sister’s potty as a walker.)

My kids have outgrown the brand now, but I still love to give Zutano stuff as gifts to friends who have babies. I love to visit their showroom here in New York City, where founder Michael hosts the press along with his now so-grown-up daughter. (Sigh…they grow so fast!) The company itself is up in Vermont, you can read their whole charming history here.

I could go on and on with my Zutano love letter (They let employees bring their kids to the office! They’re one of the few lines that offer extensive clothes for preemies!) but let me cut to the chase: They’re going to give a $250 giftcard so one of you loyal GoodyBlog readers can get a little closer to my “this baby will only wear Zutano” fantasy. You can use it to go hog-wild at Zutano.com, where the sizes go from preemie to 4T.

Here are some groundrules: You can only post once a day, through the end of Wednesday, June 20th. You can post anything you want, but maybe go ahead and say what you love and what frustrates you about baby clothes. (I love soft cotton clothes. And I hate when a decoration is all scratchy on the inside of the clothes.) You can read all of the official rules here. Goody luck!

Zutano is my favorite ever brand . With my 8 yr old that is pretty much all she wore and then when we had our son i loved it cause we could match them ,Then when our next daughter came along i could pass it all down cause it still looked awesome and then i could still match all 3 kids . By the time our last daughter came along she got everybodys Zutano and the great thing is it all still looked new . Now 5 years later we are expecting again and giess what our babys take home outfit is . The Gown and blanket from the Secret Garden line . I will stick this back for her to bring her baby home in some day if she chooses .

I am in love with Zutano, and have even resorted to buying vinatge and used pieces on ebay to further my obsession. I just love the prints and how soft everything is. I hate that most other companies gear their baby boy clothes to different shades of blue, and girls to pink.

How do I know I really love a children’s clothes brand? When I lend the outfits that my daughter has outgrown… I want them back! :)

The ones I don’t like… Well, that’s easy, because as others have said, there are so many over-the-top, glittery, over-cartooned styles out there; then there are these extrmely grown-up looking clothes that at first glance seem amazing but on the other hand take away the fun, color, and simplicity out of kids clothes!

I love Zutano patterns! What really annoys me about baby clothes is the lack of imagination that most brands seem to have concerning gender. It’s not just about pink = girl and blue = boy. Even the yellow/green gender neutral colors are lazy. There’s so much that can be done with color and pattern that there’s just no excuse for such a lack of selection when it comes to clothes. Thank goodness for brands like Zutano!

We are fortunate to live in Central Vermont, where Zutano’s headquarters are located (it’s true! Moms who work there get to bring their babies to work!). These are very popular clothes.
Every expectant mom – any Mom with a kid under 6!-gets very excited to see a distinct, colorful, careful Zutano store giftwrap on the shower/birthday party gift table.
Are the clothes a bit expensive? Yes. Are they worth it? Absolutely. These clothes FEEL good on your babies and kids. They LOOK fabulous in whimsical, bold or fashionable prints. They LAST. They hold up to serious play, serious stains, and serious handing-down. These clothes will be passed around all your friends. Think no one makes cool boy’s clothes? Zutano does.
I stumbled on this blog because I became an Auntie again yesterday and I wanted to check out the summer prints. Every baby in my life has rocked a pair of their NEVER FALL OFF booties! Usually, in about 6 months, Mom calls me to find out where she can get the next size, as Jr. has grown out of the pair I gave her at the shower!

My daughter has a large head and it frustrates me when clothing is tight around the neck, making it hard to dress her.

I dislike how boring many boy clothes are which is why we love to dress my son in zutano’s bright and cheerful stripes and prints!

I LOVE the Zutano crossover dresses with contrasting sleeves! I hate toddler dresses that aren’t comfy or practical to play in.
