American Baby’s Baby Booty: Get a Babysitter!

Baby Bjorn's Babysitter Balance

And no, we don’t mean someone who will watch your kid, though that’s certainly useful around New Year’s Eve. We mean the Baby Bjorn Babysitter Balance, which is an infant seat that can last you through the toddler years. I got one of these when my daughter was about 10 months old and had a cold; she had outgrown the bouncer seat and swing, but still needed to be sitting comfortably upright to breathe easily. A friend recommended it, and it worked like a charm. She sat in it (as a TV-watching chair, please don’t judge) through age 3. Then we used it for my son.

I got to thinking about the Babysitter Balance because of all the reports of other baby seats, mainly the Bumbo, tipping over when on a high surface. An advantage of the Babysitter is it’s pretty obvious it doesn’t go on a chair or counter; the wide base relegates it to the floor. And it has safety straps to hold a baby in place. The only downside is the price: $180. But it’s a good value, because you’ll use it for years with multiple kids. But don’t just trust me; it gets lots of 5-star reviews on Amazon.com.

Another safe place to put an older, sitting-upright baby is in an ExerSaucer, or a Jumperoo, or some other stationary activity center. Or in the highchair (use the straps!). I’m sure someone will want to comment “how about just holding your kid?” but everyone needs a safe place to sit a baby for 20 minutes here and there during the day, to use the bathroom, get dressed, or make a meal. Most of the day you can hold your baby or wear her in a carrier, but while you shower is just not one of those times!

How do you solve the challenge of either keeping your sniffly baby upright, or seating your baby somewhere safe? Leave a comment below; one lucky poster will win the Baby Bjorn Babysitter Balance for their child! It’s a light blue seat with dark blue trim, but otherwise, just like the one pictured here, and a $180 retail value. You have through Wednesday, December 28th to post and can post just once a day; read the full rules here. Goody luck!Really a comfy seat!

We inclind the mattress in his crib with about 5 or 6 of his cloth diaper pads under it on the end near his head. We also have the Nose Freida. That is a life saver and I wouldnt want to live without it. Its horrible when your baby is stuffed up. The Babysitter Balance would be a great added extra for when he is out of his crib.

Our baby is not born yet but we have been talking about how we are going to need this, I think it is great for after being fed if I need to put him down for a minute or when he is sick. When I worked at day cares in the past I know we often would stack a boppy on top of another to try to increase the childs incline.

My son is apparently on his way to being a giant. Wearing 9-13 mo. clothes when he’s only 5 months. The biggest problem is that he loves the bouncer chair but really doesn’t fit well any more. This would be such a huge help to me and my wife!

My 3 month old son is using an infant to toddler rocker to sit, he usually pretty calm sitting by himself for 5 to 10 minutes so I can do small, quick things before he starts crying. At other times I hold him in a sling. But this Baby Bjorn babysitter balance will certainly help me and my poor back. :)

I have yet to give birth to my first (due in July!!) but when I worked in a daycare years ago there was a baby constantly suck. The mother would put vapor rub on his chest and use a q-tip to get out the boogies. I’m not sure if that isthe proper thing to do or not but it was her way.

Excited at the chance! We’re going to need everything with our first. :)

But I’d LOVE to win the Bjorn Babysitter Balance! It looks like a FANTASTIC upright seat that is a safe place for baby when your arms need a break or to get something done!

We’re trying to save all our money for the baby but our house was inherited from my grandmother and hadn’t been renovated probably in 80 years, so our money is all going towards making the house liveable and baby-safe. My 5 month old just got his first cold and we both have been drained. I read blogs to get ideas to help him sleep more comfortably and to help him during the day. I settled on 2 pillows propping 1 side of his crib mattress which has somewhat helped. And during the day when i cant carry him I use pillows around him tightly tuck with a boppy around his waist as sort of a seat belt, I find myself spending more time checking on him than actually completing my task. This Baby Bjorn Sitter would be a huge aide to this single mom.

We are pregnant with our first. I was just on the Baby Bjorn website and Amazon looking at Baby Bjorn products!! Especially love the carriers and babysitters. What could be better? Winning one, I guess!

I bet my baby girl would love to have one of those. I didn’t really get around to buy much for my baby, because her daddy was unemployed and our finances got compromised. Most of what she got are used items given by friends or second hand bought on garage sales. Would feel great to have one brand new item on her nursery.

we are expecting our fifth.. and after our other kids have grown, and several military moves… we no longer have a baby bouncer for our coming little guy. this would be amazing! we have ALWAYS insisted on having a baby bouncer for each kid. WE WOULD LOVE TO WIN THIS BOUNCER!!! :)
