Win an “Early Rider” Balance Bike from TykeRider.com

The entry period for this giveaway has now ended.  Congratulations to Lindsey S. of Effingham, IL and Amy C. of Middletown, NY for winning the two balance bikes!

Riding a bicycle is one of the most-anticipated childhood milestones, so if you have a little one who can’t stop moving, a balance bike (a pedal-less bike that teaches coordination, strength, and speed) is a great idea to improve gross and fine motor skills.

Parents.com has collaborated with TykeRider.com, an online retailer dedicated to selling high-quality balance bikes and helmets, to give away two “Early Rider” Classic balance bikes, valued at $180 each.

The Early Rider brand, based out of the United Kingdom, features balance bikes in three versions (Lite, Classic, Evolution), all with “Fat Boy” rear tires for extra stability. The Classic version, designed for 2 to 5 year-olds, is made out of wood and environmentally-friendly and has an adjustable seat with faux leather seat pad.

To win a balance bike, share what special milestone you’re anticipating for your child in our Comments section below.  Two (2) winners will be chosen randomly to win the sweepstakes giveaway, which runs begins Monday, October 24 and ends Monday, October 31.  Click here to read the full contest rules.

Goody luck!

Waiting for my oldest (5) to actually ride her big girl bike without being completely freaked out and her brother (2) to be fully out of pull ups (almost!)….love all the milestones and they just seem to be coming faster and faster!

potty train the younger (2) and have enough practice time for the older (5) to not need his training wheels. I imagine if we’d had one of these, he wouldn’t need them.

My 7 year old still has trouble with his two-wheeler so I’m eager for him to hit that milestone and I (really!)can’t wait for my 3 year old to fully master potty training. (really, really can’t wait on that one…) And today I get my first ultrasound and will find out if baby number 3 will be a he or a she. That’s not technically a “milestone” but I’ve very eager to find out if the next 20 years or so will be pink or blue ones!

Seems they are safer and help the babies to learn without the pain of trying to balance and petal at the same time. We have 5 grandbabies, 5 yr old, 2/4 yr olds, 3 yr old, 2 year old and a newborn on the way. Wow, Love those babies!!

He can take 6-10 steps on his own but then just gets too excited and proud of himself that his feet can’t keep up with how fast he wants to go! He can also say “Mama” but waiting for him to realize that means ME! :) This balance bike would be perfect for him…he already likes to sit on his Uncle’s motorcycle!

My two year old granddaughter is in the process of potty training. She does really good for a while then she stops again and don’t want to go to the potty. She is a very smart little girl and never ceases to amaze me with things she comes up with. I told her my tv didn’t work the other day and she said, well nana you need to get a antenna then it will work. I thought, how does she know about antennas. I would love to win this bike for her. She loves anything she can ride on.

My baby is 2. I’m a stroke survivor of 3 years. I don’t have use of my right hand/arm and limited right leg function. My daughter is so wonderful. She tries to help me all the time. She tries to “dress” me and “feed” me and anything else she thinks I need help with. She really has been my miracle. She is just learning to talk, but it was a nice surprise to hear and see she knew her alphabets and numbers. Reading to her has really made an impact! Developmentally she is on target, climbing furniture and everything else she can get to. Her favorite thing tho is dance. She has an uncanny sense of rythym and she loves music. She gets that from me though, but don’t tell her daddy that. I’m looking forward to more milestones as she grows into the precious girl she already is.

Well even though my daughter is just turning 1 in two weeks, she amazes me at her fine motor skills. She already goes for her 5 year old cousins bike and even though it is still big she runs up to it and wants to be placed on it and pushed. She started walking at 10.5 months and at 11 months she wanted her own set of wheels. As scary as it is of how fast she is growing. I love seeing her take on the next milestone or development skill. I can’t for basically every milestone! My 14 month old is on the cusp of walking and is starting to say real words. I am so thankful to be experiencing every moment. The balance bikes are awesome. Training wheels are terrible but using a balance bike you can avoid them give your kid a great start on a real bike when they are ready.

I have three kids and there is a different activity that I am eager for each one to meet.
My oldest daughter is 5 and just started Kindergarten this year. I am most excited for her first conference. It will be great to hear how she is progressing and acting in class.
My second daughter is two now. I am most excited for her to start helping with cleaning up. Right now she will put a few things away, but isn’t the biggest help yet. I love when they actually understand the concept of helping pick up the toys.
My son, the youngest, is 6 months. I would love for him to start walking (as he is already crawling), but the thing I really want him to do is say mama. None of my kids have said mama first, and I would love for the baby of the family to be the first one to do it.

The mom of two girls, 7 & 3, and one boy, 8months I always look forward to watching them learn how to ride a bike. I remember it being my favorite time as a child. My two girls are avid bike riders and I was looking into taking pedals off the little purple bike, painting it black and turning it into a “strider” like bike for our boy. Winning this sure would save a lot of time and trouble.. :) I can’t wait to see all 3 of my beautiful kids riding down the road behind daddy and in front of mommy..

I just went to parent teacher conferences for Caden (6) and got wonderful reports that he is doing amazing in everything except for his handwriting. So that is his next goal to become a better wrighter. Lincoln (2) is working on potty training but instead of moving forward we are going backward. He decided to wear underware for 2 days and only has one accident. He then decided he wanted his diapers back so for a solid week we would put him on the potty and made him sit there for at least 20 min and he would refuse to go until he would get in the kitchen.

I am also expecting the arrival of a new grandchild in May and a 2 year old little girl through adoption from China possibly in the spring. My son, Brydon, turned 1 in October. We are looking forward and WORKING HARD to get him to walk. He was born with bilateral clubfeet. So we have gone to physical therapy religiously twice a week since he was four months old. They recently suggested to us getting a walker, push toy, or something he could hold on to/stand with… and try to free walk.
It was an amazing day when he was finally able to put his feet underneath him and pull to stand. Now he can sort of cruise a few inches while holding onto furniture.
He still struggles with leg weakness but we are moving on and working hard. He is such a happy little baby, and nothing seems to phase him. He’s wearing casts right now to try and correct the left foot that is relapsing, but hopefully we’ll be out soon. And he’ll be on the move.
    :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
With or without this bike, I can’t wait. It’ll be the best Christmas present yet for us (his walking)
