Kate Winslet to Release Book Inspired by Child with Autism
Simon & Schuster and Kate Winslet will be releasing a book in November 2011 titled “The Golden Hat“ that will raise awareness for autism. While narrating a documentary titled “A Mother’s Courage: Talking Back to Autism,” Winslet met an autistic boy named Keli Ericsdottir. He had written a poem about a magical hat that could allow a child with autism to communicate.
The poem inspired the book’s title and will feature stories of Winslet’s friendship with the Ericsdottir family plus Keli’s original poems and writings. In addition, the book will feature Winslet and other celebrities (such as Demi Moore, Don Cheadle, Javier Bardem, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, and Meryl Streep) in self-portraits wearing a magical, golden hat. Each celebrity will share the first words they would say if talking for the first time.
