Alyssa Milano Wants Donations, Not Baby Gifts
Alyssa Milano is expecting a son later this year, but she’s opting out of receiving gifts for his arrival. Instead the actress and UNICEF ambassador for Child Survival Programs is asking friends, family, and generous fans to donate to the organization through her newly launched site Baby Bugliari.
“With every $5 donation, UNICEF can provide assistance to children in developing countries so they can grow to be healthy, happy and strong – which is exactly what we want for our child,” Alyssa says.
In many countries, childbirth is still dangerous and proper nutrition and medical care is scare. For example, many newborns and mothers die from maternal neonatal tetanus, a disease that can easily be prevented through a round of immunizations that costs as little as $1.80, UNICEF’s Web site says.
Do-gooder Milano has raised more than $150,000 for charity:Water by asking for birthday donations, so it’s no surprise the do-gooder mom-to-be is hoping to forgo the typical onslaught of freebie baby goodies most celebrities receive, helping those less fortunate instead.Add a Comment
